I just got alerted to this promo and I have some questions.

Is the EDC 4 and GSO 4.1 the same knife? Are there any in hand pics of the actual knife being offered in the promo on the website? (https://www.surviveknives.com/products/?slug=product_info.php&products_id=30)
The 3D prototype picture shows spine jimping, no lanyard hole and it looks like it has a slightly more obtuse tip than the knives in the color selection picture.

If you can help clear up the confusion, I'd very much appreciate it :)

GSO 4.1 is the successor of the EDC 4 with small adjustments
Spine and pommel jimping, hidden lanyard hole,...
The GSO 4.1 isn't build yet, only renderings

Man the wife picked a crappy time to go out on maternity leave! Lol! We've got to watch the expenditures right now, but I really love the look of these and I'll be picking one up as soon as funds allow! Unfortunately it wont be while the preorder is available.

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing what's coming in the future!

Ok, I'm being lazy and just copying my facebook explanation to this page. The GSO-4.1 is a revision of the original EDC-4. The entire rear pommel area changed slightly, both in it's perimeter profile and the lanyard hole. The pommel modifications allowed me to increase the usable handle size while at the same time, slightly reduce the overall size of the knife. Also the blade's tip was changed to more of a spear point. I found this to be generally more functional and slightly more robust than the EDC-4's drop point.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification!

I'm going to order two knives, I'm only not quite sure about the kydex sheaths.
I hope it's ok to order (and pay) the two knives and when they are ready to be shipped over two months, make a second order only for the sheaths ?
I would prefer a simple pouch style leather sheath, there might be a chance you got this option over two months.

I am looking into a few people for leather sheaths. Actually just ready to send a sheath to Sagewood Gear this coming week, to see what they can come up with. I am also looking into another guy, that a friend in the industry suggested, for more of a pouch style leather sheath.

Certainly! The sheaths will be the same cost, whether you get one now or later. You are also correct, I may very well have some leather options sorted out by then. I am working on some potential leather options, from several makers. I just have to shake the tree and see what comes loose.

Ordered 2 GSO 4.1

The GSO-5.1 is similar in looks to the Enki Knife Research just came up with. ;)
Funny coincidence :)
Your knife is far better priced

You're doing an excellent job

Holy cow! You are right. That thing almost looks like a blend of my GSO-5 prototype and the GSO-5.1. Nice looking blade but does the price seriously start at $350USD?

And probably - I think - a better a choice of blade materials, although I'd love to know more about the differences between CPM 3v, K390 and Vanadis 4 Extra
Anyway, be your own judge and read this (and other) material:
But who knows, perhaps we'll all be screaming for SM-100 or something else next year ;)...

Yes, thank you Guy. Keep it up!!!

Like you might see in some links I was looking for knives in vanadis 4E for at least 3 years :)
Didn't find many knife makers that use this steel, a good heat tread is demanding for this steel.
I managed to make an order for a custom but it might take a while to be made.
Vanadis 4E is a perfect mix of thougness and wear retention at about 62 HCR
(Fredrik Haakonsen heat treat his to 66 HCR)
Another interesting steel is Bohler K490

Both vanadis 4E and K490 are powdered toolsteels.
Böhler -Uddeholm seems to promote their stainless steels more.
Logic because there is a greater market.
After all the global "higher end" knife community is a relative small buyer for such a massive Corporation, how strange this might sound.
I don't even think K490 comes in good sizes for knifemakers (at the moment)

This said cpm3v, elmax and M390 are excellent steels.
We are already spoiled ;)

I have to say that this is a company I can really see myself getting behind. I love what your doing and what the mission of your company is. You've sold me on everything and now I'm just waiting to test the product which I'm sure will be pretty damn awesome. I'm looking forward to getting the 10 and I'm on the fence for the 4.1 but I'm really loving the direction you're taking.

+100

how would the GSO 4.1 in m390 do as a hunting knife...skinning, field dressing all hunting tasks.

I believe it would be everything a person would need in a game knife. It's stainless properties make it very low maintenance and the edge holding is outstanding. It would certainly be more than comfortable to use for extended periods of time. Field dressing an animal is one of the many reasons I went with more of a spear point on the GSO-4.1, with a more noticeable sloped blade spine. When you are opening the belly cavity of your game animal, the heavier sloped spine is more inclined to slide over the gut sack, rather than piercing it.

Dude.....that makes total sense and I've never thought about that. .......when I grow up, I wanna be just like you!

And for what it's worth, I plan on using my GSO 4.1 as my field dress knife for the late season antlerless, if all goes well and it's here by then....

Ordered one!

One question: When ordering an extra handle set, in what option is it provided (with or without bow drill divot) ?

Hahaha! I overlooked that. In my mind at least, I saw just delivering a second set without a divot, whether a person ordered their first set with or without a divot. You can always add one but you can't put it back after the hole is there. lol For you DIY guys and girls, I simply use a 1/2" ball end mill for the divot. I'll make sure that stuff is worked out a little better for the next run. That's how we learn though, I suppose.
