I just looked up Tero Tuf. It looks like the orange will be slightly more subdued than G10 (kind of more of a linen finish)?

It looks like it will be a good compromise between being visible without being obnoxious. What is your experience?

I'm debating picking up a couple more for the BOB's before the sale closes on Sunday....

That is exactly why I changed to Terotuf from G-10. The orange will be less loud and the surface texture will be more similar to micarta. More of a dusty orange.

That's always something a bit confusing when people do a cut-off time.

Does it mean orders stop Sunday AM 00:00 (Saturday night), or Sunday night 23:59:59?

I've missed cutoffs before because the cutoff time was not clear (ended one day earlier than what I thought they meant)

You raise a good point concerning the time line and clarification. I'm sure Guy does not want folks to miss out on this special.

There is a link on Guys website concerning the Christmas Preorder Special for the GSO-4.1 that states, "The store front will close next Sunday, November 18th at midnight (EST)." I take this to mean midnight Sunday.

First, MAW, thanks for posting that info from my website. The full details of the promotion are on the site, including the cut off time. I'm really generous with the cut off, most often not actually closing it down until the morning after the promotion is supposed to close. The safest bet would be to just get your preorders finalized as soon as you can. Any late submissions will be discarded without notice or exception.

That assumption has caused me to miss out in the past Mark. Technically, the only "midnight" is the start of the day (as Saturday becomes Sunday).

...although I think most intend it to mean "the end of Sunday". I just want to make sure no one that wants one misses out.

The safe way to be sure....get your orders in today!!! ;)

I just ordered 2 more today....just to be on the safe side.

....anxious to get them, as well as the release of the GSO7!

I just tried to order mine, but the shop on the website only shows the regular price of $165. Has it been like that the last days, too? I think thre are still a few hours left to order the knife and get the special price, right?

I have already ordered my limit of four GSO-4.1s, but to try and help...I just logged into the surviveknives.com website and added a GSO-4.1 into my cart for $120.00 USD and made through the last ordering step. I stopped short of paying for it and completing the order for reasons mentioned herein. Hence, it appears that I could still get the sale price for this knife.

The "sale" feature on my store seems to have a mind of it's own recently. I set the sale end date and time and the program does what it wants, regardless. I've reset the sale price to reflect the $120 price and I'll check it throughout the day to ensure it stays that way until Midnight, EST(Eastern Standard Time).

I hope Guy doesn't bite off more than he chew !Don't grow too fast ! Everyone wants a different type knife .And now I have to wait 6 weeks for mine before I can check it out .Peter's HT is a good sign ,they know what they're doing.

Hahaha! I might be pulled in a lot of directions right now but no worries, I've got this handled. I'm enlisting some personal friends to help pick up the slack on assembly and packaging right now and I'll mostly likely have my very own shop and a few employees by late spring. When we get the SURVIVE! shop established, all will be welcome to swing through and visit. I plan on the location being open for retail business as well as manufacturing. We are getting there, I just need a little more time. ;)
 
Ordered one in M390. Cant wait to see test this bad boy out.

BTW, Is ELMAX tougher than M390 at the same hardness?

That would depend on who does the heat treat and how well they know the materials they are heat treating. In the case of Peter's, I believe we can get improved edge holding with no noticeable loss in toughness. I had a long conversation about this with them when I was first looking at using the Bohler M-390.

Thanks for the info Guy,
Although it is important, for me, toughness is not as critical as edge holding in a knife this size. I am probably going to use this one for bushcraft stuff like feather stick making and stuff like that. I was just curious because the way these two steels are described by their manufacturer. This knife looks like a real winner to me. I will probably have one in every steel you make it in. Is the 8 weeks over yet? LOL

Well, I am now enjoying my first cup of Monday morning coffee and answering emails. After my second cup, I will close the preorder promotion down. A huge thanks to everyone who is participating. Would you guys like me to close down this thread or should I keep it open for the production updates?
