Then our first production stop will be Peter's Heat Treating. We learned a LOT regarding ideal production work flow during the GSO-10 run, so this GSO-4.1 run should go quite a bit faster. HERE WE GO!![]()
Guy, does this mean the primary grind is done post HT? Just curious, not critisizing. I've never been part of a run from the beginning like this.
Thanks!
I was wondering that too. I wouldn't think so though it would be quite a bit faster and cheaper to do the the primary grind before the steel is hardened.
I changed my mind.I definitely want one in M390.Where do I sign up?
\
edit-nevermind,looks like I'm too late.Oh well![]()
How do I join the S90v ranks? I ordered m390.
All of the grinding is done after heat treat. Heat treating full thickness blanks makes the nicest, straightest finished blades. Of course it would be cheaper and faster to grind the blades in the annealed state but that's not what we are about. I try to do things the best I know how, to produce the highest quality knife possible.

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the EDC4 I grabbed from Edgeworks on Friday! It's in 3V, so I'm thinking I need one in M390 to balance it out:thumbup: Glad to hear there will be overs, Guy!
Please keep those GSO4.1 updates coming, it's the only thing that keeps me sane short of buying other knives. But with CPM S90V around the corner other knives will have to wait.
Guy, my man, you are like the Santa Claus of knives.
Ahhh, so you bought the last one? lol I was down the other day and things were looking pretty slim. Just some GSO-5.1's left and well, those few prototypes Sean keeps hidden around. I'm glad he holds onto those and doesn't seem to be actively trying to sell them. They remind me of where I started and how far things have come since then. Those first prototypes are going to be collectables one day.
Haha! Thanks Man. Let me just give you guys an update then. The M-390, CPM-3V and CPM-S90V are at the laser cutting facility. They should begin cutting today or tomorrow, into early next week, then the M-390 and CPM-3V will be going to heat treat. The S90V as it turns out ABSOLUTELY can NOT be ground in the hardened state, so those particular blades will in fact be ground and then heat treated. Looks like we all need to get the abrasives companies caught up to the steel industry. These steels are outpacing the ability to efficiently process them. Pure silliness. That also makes me very excited about the edge holding potential of this steel.

So are these S90V knives going to be in the 4.1 or the 5.1 configuration? And will they show up on your website, at Edgeworks, or did I already miss another preorder:grumpy:?
