So wait a minute, as far as a GSO 4.1 is concerned, I'm thinking it'd be my dream knife in m390 or s90v.. but I'm likely not gonna have the funds for a few months.

After this run is bought up (likely in about a week of release, if the 5.1 is any indication), what are the plans, if any, for the future of the GSO 4.1? It's really the perfect size for me, and either s90v or m390 are in my opinion the best steels available for a knife this size (unless you're looking for toughness). I'm hoping that the GSO 4.1 is going to make another run sometime soon! How about it Guy, can you give us any idea on future production of this phenomenal design? Do you think it'll go into a regular production at any point?

Either way, keep up the top-notch knives and the fantastic deals (even after the slight markup on the GSO 4.1, it's still the best deal in knives IMO).

Don't worry, I fully intend to run the GSO-4.1 again. What you are watching right now is a new knife company being born. We are all going to have a lot of fun together in the coming months and years. SURVIVE! is here to stay.

Thats what I'd like to hear! I think this could be a great thing. Perfect knives produced with the soul of a great knifemaker!

Hey Brother, here are some user submitted photos. They are really beginning to come in now, with it being hunting season and all. Also, for you guys wondering what to expect from the GSO-5.1, the next time that is available, here is a review by Black Scout Survival: http://www.blackscoutsurvival.com/2012/11/survive-knives-gso-51.html

Anyway, to the photos!

Thanks for sharing Guy. I already got one buck this year and I hope to send you a few pics of my own from the IL late winter deer season with my 3v CAMO micarta GSO 4.1! Oh yeah!!

I can't wait for it!

Hello Guy,
I bought the GSO 4 and GSO 10 and now I unfortunately missed the GSO 5...
Keep up the good work. Your knives are functional at a good price. Don't make the mistake of getting a huge team and tons of overhead like some other knife makers... After that you will have to start cutting corners to cover all these expensese...

No worries, I'll be kicking off a run of GSO-5.1's and GSO-7/7's in January. Just a few weeks, really. And don't worry, I would never turn my back on my customers.

No worries. I will have PLENTY of overs when this run is completed. I am doing a bunch of these in an attempt to finally get caught up and have some inventory.

Those will be available on the website once the run is completed. I did end up getting a full sheet, so I should have a good few available.

Is it possible to change to the S90v instead of ordering a second knife? For some reason I don't receive proper updates via the forum for this thread for some reason:(

I'm not taking any kind of orders for those S90V blades yet. This is an experiment run and I want to see how they process in production and see how they perform in real life testing, before offering them to anyone. And unfortunately, even if they turn out great, I didn't get a super sweet deal on the S90V stock, so I couldn't do a straight up substitution at the preorder price. That stuff is pretty expensive.

Regarding the S90V, the cost comparisons of the steels you are opting for is a major factor in your choices, no? For example, M390 is the European version of American DuraTech 20V and CTS-204P: http://zknives.com/knives/steels/steelgraph.php?nm=DuraTech 20CV,CTS-204P,m390&gm=0 But what kind of price-deal you might get on each, and whether Peter's HT can work the best out of it make a big difference, I suppose.

Looking forward to the new year!

Cost is one factor but not the only factor. The biggest factor for me is supply. I like to know the material is commercially available and I can get the stock again and again, as needed, without waiting weeks or months for another mill run. The CPM and Bohler steels are readily available and in stock sizes that work good for knife making.

And it's not cheap to work with either. :)

Here's a shot from the other day. This is a GSO-4.1 blank in CPM-3V. All of the GSO-4.1 blades are on their way to heat treat. This one should move pretty quickly.

Guy,

Thanks for your hard work on this project. I am eagerly awaiting the knives I pre-ordered.

It was mentioned a while back that you were looking into the possibility of leather sheaths for the GSO 4.1 knives. Any updates on this front?

If not, can you confirm that the GSO 4.1 will fit into the BHK #9, Woodsman Pro sheath? I thought I remember the guy from E2E saying he was using one for his EDC-4.

Thanks for the kind words. I am indeed still working on getting some leather out there. I will be working with Sagewood Gear on a small batch of sheaths for some upcoming GSO-5.1's, with a Bark River full convex grind. I thought their sheaths would compliment these slightly dressier looking versions of that model. If I am happy with their stuff, I might look at expanding on that in future runs. Also still waiting to see what Martin Swinkels might be working on in a leather/kydex hybrid. I know he gets pretty busy though.

On the woodsman pro sheath, I can only speculate, as I don't own that knife myself. I know Adam was sporting the EDC-4 in a sheath like that but I'm unsure if that was the exact model. Whatever it was, it did fit in there nicely and the sheath was nice looking as well.

Bark River full convex grind?! I must have missed something?!

Haha! yeah, they'll look like the two outside knives in this photo. Corby'd handles and full convex grinding, done by the folks at Bark River. They are more expensive but I must admit, they are pretty. Not quite as robust as my production GSO-5.1's, with more focus placed purely on cutting efficiency, these are more of a gentleman's version of my GSO-5.1. Only about 35 will ever exist and only about 20 will wind up going on the open market.

Man if it wasn't for the choil I'd be all over that!

Just since it's still an "Would you pre-order" thread;

I ordered 2 GSO 4.1 M390's! Couldn't be happier :D

Was really on the fence about that second one since you mentioned S90V coming "soon" too (or well, limited supply after all the enthusiasm here), but after some research i found out M390 might be better for me for all-round tasks.. Maybe later ;)
They are going to be my first knives of over 50$ (1 knife just for backup... :P), and i really wanted super craftsmanship combined with the very best blade quality. Very lucky i found out about Survive! knives in time!, so much passion/love and working with an experienced heater (Cryo!) did it for me...!

Can't wait to see what other offers are coming in the future!

Ref leather sheaths, my Sagewood for the BK17 fits my EDC 4 great. The kydex band just needs to be tightened up a little and retention is perfect.
