Any possibility of a unnecessarily large Survive knife? I got a GSO-10, but now i need a GSO-16 :D

Any chance you’d do a one-off custom for me?

Hahaha! So a sword? I would but I just don't have enough hours in the day to do anything like that. I still have a hard time accepting that. I have like a MILLION ideas that I want to pursue but don't have time to blueprint them.

Hey Guy I had somethings come up that forced me to not join in the 2nd promo run, but I am always checking out your site to see what new things might be around the corner and I noticed you have the GSO 4.1 listed at $200 on the site. Just wondering if that will be the going rate once the are for sale on the site?

Yes, that will be the regular price of the GSO-4.1 with a kydex sheath. After getting things figured out and realizing I was either breaking even or losing money, I had to revisit my pricing. I won't be around very long if I don't make any money. lol.

Oh I totally agree you need to make profit and its cool that you are inculding the sheath in the cost. For people like me (dont acutally factor in additional costs) its very helpful. Also any chance on you going back to ELMAX or are you pretty much sticking to M390?

Yeah, the knives will be a complete unit with a sheath from now on, with a discount if a person doesn't want a sheath for some reason. I'm still probably not charging as much as I should but at least now I can wholesale to retailers and still make a few dollars of profit. I still only have enough margin built in to deal with retailers directly but no other levels like distributors. I will probably go back to using Elmax after this run, unless I can continue to get the super sweet deal on M-390 in the future.

Have you got test those 13's you had made?

Actually, thanks for reminding me. LOL I had actually just sent those up to Bark River, along with a batch of GSO-5.1 blades, to have them full convex ground. That has a following, so I wanted to offer that one last time. Most of those went down to Edgeworks Knife and Supply, down in Frederick MD but I have about 10, that I'm going to let go for a steal on here. I'm moving my shop and just want to make sure they get good homes. I've grown to be a little too neurotic to be able to appreciate the unique, hand ground looking nature of the full convex grinding.

Thats awesome I was hoping you would be going back to ELMAX, now if I can just get you to do me a 4.1 in CPM-154 I would be a happy guy :)

Something like that. I dont know if you follow the youtube community but Gavkoo makes a knife called the Excalibur, it is 21” of insane 3v chopping magic. Just something to think about for the future :)
Since i got the GSO-10, i have been following your projects pretty closely, and im liking what im seeing!

Quick GSO-4.1 update! Heat treat is finished and precision double disc surface grinding is underway! This will take some time, as these steels are very abrasion resistant and there are over 700 in total, to surface grind, then bevel grind. We're getting there though!

I might be interested in one in CPM 3V, but forgive me, as I am not very familiar with your brand and I have a couple of questions: (1) what is the weight of the knife? (2) How does this model differ from the GSO 4.1 listed on your website?

Thanks!

Hey there, no problem. I just picked up a postal scale the other week and your question made me finally unwrap it. lol While the GSO-4.1's aren't quite completed, my personal EDC-4, the GSO-4.1's predecessor is tipping the scales at 6.4 ounces naked or 9.5 ounces in a kydex sheath. Mine being custom hand ground will be a little lighter but the GSO-4.1 will be right in the same ballpark. These GSO-4.1's are the same as the GSO-4.1's that you're seeing on my site. They just aren't available for sale quite yet. Once I get the preordered blades finished up and shipped to those patient folks and my new website platform is completed, they'll be available to the public. I threw a bunch of extra money in to this run, trying to finally get ahead of demand a bit. I should have some available for a while after the run is complete.

With the new expanded shop, my output capacity is really going to increase this year. I have so much I want to share with everyone this year.

Thanks for the update! Looking good so far. Do we have a ball park on the shipping time of these per orders? Such as 2 weeks or another month?

Thanks

Hi Guy,

Thanks for your quick reply, and I'm sorry to bother you again, but how can I be sure to get notification so I don't miss out on an upcoming 3.5 pre-order deal? I would be super-interested in that knife, and I am super-bummed that I missed out on your super-generous promotion for this blade.

Cheers!

I feel a little hesitant to give an update on a time frame, until the surface grinding is done. I learned from the GSO-10 run that those estimates quickly become "promises" but I don't believe 3-4 weeks is a completely unreasonable estimate to begin delivering these. After this one, I'm limiting my preorders to 200 numbered pieces and not giving any time lines. I tried to give good faith time lines but it's just too stressful if anything goes wrong in production and something always goes wrong somewhere. This new way, everyone involved will get a numbered piece for a discounted price and I'll get the time I need to get them done right, without as much stress of a deadline expectation.

thanks for the quick reply guy. even seeing your presence in this thread be a little more frequent i assume your process is becoming less stressful. but you have been doing a great job keeping us informed and always doing your best to eliminate all the hang ups and time delaying factors. it really is great to see a manufacturer/designer/seller keep the customers so in the loop and always making changes to improve everything. it is so refreshing. this is how you establish lifetime and repeating customers. keep up the good work GUY!

however i will still be waiting for the postman daily in hopes your estimates on delivery are over estimates. wishful thinking i suppose ha. cant wait for the 4.1!

So it's safe to assume that delivery will be after Feb huh, oh well such is life.
About the future preorders, since it's limited to 200 pieces, is it going to be 1 piece per person or 4 piece per person? Tho got a feeling its subject to change and should wait for the details for the SURVIVE! club:p.

It will be one knife per model, per customer but as a bonus this next go, there will be a few variants. lol. They share a common handle, with different blade sizes and choil/no choil options. People asked enough that I'm inclined to make it happen. After visiting SHOT, I've also learned that I have a new certified Cerakote applicator in my immediate area, so I will most likely offer a few Cerakote color options, perhaps as many as five to start.

Moving in to this new shop space REALLY helped my stress level. Each step of progress there makes me a little happier. I can already visualize the new equipment on the shop floor. lol Seeing all of these photos and videos of happy people, with their SURVIVE! knives makes me super happy. That is the big reward for me. Each run will get a little smoother, as the inefficiencies are identified and ironed out. A few more months and I should have constant, overlapping production runs and hopefully some help, even if only part time. Then I can get back to the drawing board, to design some ideas that are rattling around in my head. Thanks for the kind words also. I really appreciate it.
