Pro-Tech knives what say you?

Ok, I can't take it anymore I'm buying the tan aluminum godfather that's been in my blade hq wishlist for like a month.

This will officially be my first Pro-tech.

I think they are made decent but I find I am not that into them. I am not a fan of their satin finishes and I find many of their designs have boxy sharp shouldered handles that to me are a bit uncomfortable. I actually prefer the protech knives from when Wayne Clark was involved. My favorite model though is actually a brend combat companion fixed blade.

My only other quality auto that I own besides my Pro-Tech Runt is a Wayne Clark/DKD Shark Tooth. TBH, its quality and action rivals Pro-Tech's. It's also CA-legal, but it's blade feels bigger than it is; it's a hawkbill design.

My only Pro-Tech is the Les George Rockeye collab. It's my only auto but I couldn't be happier with it.

Post a photo when you get it. =)

Here you go!

Great choice Leftytwogunz!

Thanks!

The blade came quickly from Blade HQ. It was packaged nicely, and a decent price. The action is lightning fast, and the pocket clip is strong. My only dislike is that the handle finish isn't really a desert sand color as it was named, more like a metallic bronze. I really don't like the color, but it's not that big of a deal.

The action on these really is strong. While deciding if this was possible for weak side carry, the first time I opened it with my left hand it literally jumped out of my hand, and the tip poked a small hole in my shirt on my left side on the way to the floor. Be sure to practice strong grip techniques when opening these. It is sharp as hell, the point is like a needle and the grinds are nice. Good knife.

I have Pro-Tech Runt #29. I bought it years ago at the Costa Mesa, CA Blade Show. They were a brand new company and some great guys starting out. Couldn't help but buy one of their knives. So I sprung for the $100 Runt. My buddy bought 2. One for himself and one for his brother a Miami Dade cop. Runt still pops!

I currently own a Ciabatta and a TR-4. I've owned many over the years from little Cali legals to Brends of all three sizes, Godfathers and Godsons. The knives are some of the best around and Dave is a good guy for sure. I'm currently a bit put off by the trends toward skulls, barbed wire and collabs I don't care for but that's obviously where the money is nowadays.

The Sig and Protech are a great match Leftytwogunz. Congrats!

Thanks very much. I'm actually EDC'ing the Sig more than the Protech, LOL.
In all honestly though, I didn't really expect the protech to fill any specific role, or replace my EDC, just something fun to play around
with and to give protech a try. It's a good quality knife that doesn't break the bank. Who knows, I might actually have use for an auto
some day.

Here you go!

Thanks!

A great looking combo!

Very nice combo- they compliment each other very nicely. Wasn't kidding about the godfather jumping out of your hand if you don't have a good grip huh? Don't worry- once it happens you learn rather quickly and never make that mistake again huh? Since the blade opens to the left, how do you deploy weak side? Do you flip it over and open with the clip facing up?

yeah, I stuck it in one of my mag pouches in the same position as if it were in my right pocket. Pulled it out and hit the button with left index finger.
I probably won't carry it that way, was just trying to learn it's/my capabilities and limitations with this one.

Nice LTG! Always cool to try new deployment techniques to find one you're comfortable with. May they both serve you well!

How's the lock up on their autos? I've always wanted to get one but never pulled the trigger!

I've owned about a half dozen Protechs. All have been solid, a couple had a very slight flex side to side with with a button lock that's pretty common.

My new BR-1 has no play in any direction, but its more of a lockback mechanism.
