problems with TheBladeShop ?

I had the standard experience: Ordered a knife that didn't give any indication it was out of stock, got an e-mail saying backordered, called to ask about several other knives as a replacement, found none of those were in stock. They told me several times they'd get the knife in in the next couple days. Finally canceled, got an e-mail promising a charge back to the credit card in 10 business days, but that hadn't happened after 12 business days, and I disputed the charge with my credit card company. Still waiting on that.

I got the same 10 business day promise. I guess I'll be ready to speak with my credit card company :(

Well, I've found three other numbers for The Blade Shop. They are: (865) 584-5389, (865) 678-2526, and (865) 687-4326. As of right now, all numbers including the toll-free are busy.

They are located in a strip mall, at 314 Merchant Drive in Knoxville.

I called SOG, and they are not a distributor of SOG knives. The SOG lady was very nice, and gave me the number to Outdoor Sports, which has the same address. I called her and she said they were right next door. She was helpful enough to take my name and number, and walk it next door to them (she said she just saw someone from there walk by and that someone else was cleaning the windows).

I guess time will tell if and when they ever call back...........

Well...if they do call back it won't be from one of those three numbers as of five minutes ago all three are announced as disconected or out of service.

The toll free number is busy as always. and not one response to any of three emails. I think I just paid $75.00 for a lesson in on-line buying, first knife I had ordered on-line, glad the ones imediately after from other places went ok.I suppose it could have been worse....could have been a lot more. It's a shame though...I've never had a chance to check out that model of Ka-Bar before.

After reading other's experiences, I wish I had a place to put a big warning about these peopl in a prominent spot in big red letters to let future would be buyers know.

This goes way beyond poor customer service. The state attorney general should be shutting this business down and filing criminal charges!

couldn't agree more! I'd sign that petition. These guys are crooks. They gave me hell for 2 mos before i finally got my money back. They need to be shut down.

I got the same 10 business day promise. I guess I'll be ready to speak with my credit card company :(

On the 16th of feb. They told me that they canceled my order fully, and I would receive my refund within 10 business days. As of today I have received no such refund and no notification of anything else. I sent them an email yesterday with no reply back yet. hmmmm..!

My main problem with them too is that they take away business from knife dealers who deserve the business.

Time to have that talk with your credit card company.

When you take money for something you don't have over and over again you forget it's not your money.

Eventually the pyramid crumbles.

Ok guys, I just wanted to give an update on my situation with thebladeshop. They have finally processed my refund in full which they promised me. They said that it would be done within 10 business days, but it took about 18. Not horrible, but not great either. I began emailing them the same message daily after the 12th business day, and they never replied. Today I just looked at my bank statement online and I noticed the return, and low and behold there is an email from them in my inbox. Thank god. Good luck to you all!

It's been 2 months since my promised 10-day refund, and nothing. I fwded the e-mail to my CC company and got a temporary credit while they check it out.

I don't know what it is with thebladeshop. Some people seem to have had good experiences with them, and others have had horrible experiences. All I know is that as soon as I heard about how they are I was extremely polite in my emails to them, trying not to upset them or give them any reason to take their time with my refund, or anything like that. Maybe that is why I got my refund, or maybe I am just one of the lucky one. Who knows. I really hope you get everything straightened out.

Beware of TheBladeShop and its sister company, TacLighting!!
Here is my experience with them: I ordered 2 discontinued Lone Wolf Harseys from them (1 from each store) at the beginning of February. They were showing as "in stock".
My credit card was charged immediately. After about a week without any shipping information, I started sending e-mails. All my e-mails to TacLighting bounced. Those to TheBladeShop were not answered. It is only then that I noticed that the telephone listed in the Taclighting contact information was the same as The BladeShop.
I started calling that 800 number, it was always busy, or they put me on hold. After a couple of days trying, I finally managed to talk to someone, who told me that both knives were back-ordered and that they would get back to me when they had more information.
A week went by, during which I spoke to the people at Lone Wolf about a custom job they were doing for me. Out of curiosity, I inquired about my back-ordered knives; they said those knives had been discontinued for over 2 years and that they had no such pending order. I immediately called TheBladeShop rep and confronted her with this information; she said that actually they were "so big" that they could custom-order virtually anything they wanted from Lone Wolf. When replied that the people at Lone Wolf had said to me that was not possible, she changed tack and said they were getting the knives from a "distributor". I asked her to cancel both orders and send me confirmation. Another few days went by and no e-mails from them.
I called again to request a written confirmation and after a day or so finally received two e-mails, one from TacLighting and one from TheBladeShop; the one from TheBladeShop said that my account would be credited within 10 business days. The one from TacLighting did not mention any specific timetable for the refund.
After 12 business days without any refund, I started writing them an e-mail once or twice a day, none were answered. Finally, after about 15 business days I received an e-mail from TheBladeShop that they had credited my account. Two days later the money was finally refunded to me and today I received the refund fro TacLighting.
This has been a 5-week ordeal for me, it was time-consuming and stressful and I consider their business tactics to be akin to larceny. Even worse, the owner of those crooked businesses, a guy named Eddie, hides behind two nice ladies who must hear complaints and insulting comments from dissatisfied customers all day long.
I still need to understand how a business like this is allowed to exist, just look at their file with the Better Business Bureau.
Somebody mentioned earlier in this thread that we should petition the State Attorney General to investigate TheBladeShop and I agree. Why don't we start a thread to collect detailed complaints about this store, including order numbers and amounts still not refunded and inform the BBB about it?

I placed an order on 2/10/09 with these guys. That was a Tuesday. When I saw Friday morning that my order hadn't shipped out yet, I gave them a call to inquire as to why that was and I was informed that, as the e-mail they sent said, EVERYTHING (five items) I ordered was out of stock and they had no idea when it would be back in stock. My credit card was charged the moment I clicked the order button, and I never received said e-mail from them. I asked for a refund which I was told I'd have in 7-10 business days, but tomorrow will make one month of waiting and I still haven't received it.

On the 27th I filed a complaint with Citicard and that hasn't been settled yet either, but they did give me a "conditional refund" meaning I have my money back for now but they could take it back away.

I will never do business with these guys again.

Message to the administrators of this Forum: I suggest making the BladeShop thread Sticky because there seems to be more than questionable business practices involved, more like fraud or outright insolvency.
I think it would be more than appropriate to warn people as much as possible to the severe risks they face when buying from those thieves. Of course the proper authorities will be the last ones to act, as always...

LorenzoL, I wouldn't be bumping GB&U threads for no reason. Just a bit of friendly advice. Like staying away from The Blade Shop. There's a reason there are 258 posts in this thread, not to mention the other ones about them.

The reason I am bumping this thread is that I want the administrators to make it sticky. This is an important warning about a rogue business.
