QTRMSTR Knives being sketchy (screenshot photo)

It's true that this thread is nothing new, but it's good to know they're continuing to be sketchy. I was thinking about picking up a QSE-8 because of my love of wharncliffes, but the price and the reputation makes me just want to toss another hundo on the price and get an insingo sebbie.

I try to keep an open mind, but for the life of me I cannot see what's appealing about their knives.

Even disregarding their sketchy reputation I wouldn't have bought one of their products...

This is the only one I've ever wanted.

I havnt seen the doc brown offered by any dealers. At the full retail it's not worth it.

This thread just confirms why I never bought anything from this company - sketchy business practices while pretending to be made in the USA. QTRMSTR? No thanks.

What I find sorta funny about all this is just how much they deny deny deny but all this could be ended if they either just owned up to the china thing or opened their factory to prove they make them in the USA. Seeing they choose to do neither I think speaks clearly what the truth is. And honestly its pretty easy to see. Manufacturing leaves tell tale signs of how and where something was made. And there are so many similarities between how their knives are made to how certain chinese knives are made that I dont know what would be worse. Having your stuff actually made in china and lying about it or actually taking inspiration from the chinese and taking design cues from them. Sadly I have my suspicions they are not the only one doing this. There seems to be at least a few different large scale Tim Britton operations out there.

Anyone remember that laser-guided-zombie-chopper-thingamajig? Or whatever the hell they called it...

Now, if you can find the covert, top secret video of Jared West in the vegas hotel room prior to Blade 2012 talking about that groundbreaking laser guided knife (Wikas was it's name I believe) I'll be really impressed!:rolleyes:;):foot::D

I'm also interested in this. I need more clues.

They refer to him as "Crazy genius" in the video description.

I really find the "movie star" attitude off-putting, I cant really say what is wrong, but this "cool" Robert Downey Jr. attitude is strange. All laughs and stuff, you'd think all the interviews are rigged and set up.

I'm not a folding knife enthusiast, but I really dont think QRTRMSTR or Mantis knives are all that famous (Like VERY famous, to the point of acting like you're the chillest dude ever).

For square folding knives I prefer Extrema Ratio (and even then, I got to admit they have weird shapes)

I'm sorry but is he running a presentation on a f-ing kitchen?

Aint that weird? I am not claiming anything in a definitive way, and I could be wrong, but to me it looks like he's just selling knives as he could sell any other thing. No matter how weird or "aesthetically unpleasant" knives are, makers and designers usually are enthusiastic about their designs.

To me (TO ME) he looks like straight out of a Mark Twain novel , you know, one of those 19th century con artists, like the ones that (in my oppinion) destroy the last half of the Huckleberry Finn book.

If it looks like a duck...
he does have that con artist aura to me as well. This company will never see a single cent from my wallet.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QgG6LVH-XG8 not sure if this is the video but he does explain the laser guided knife in this video.

No, the one I'm referring to was filmed in a hotel room prior to one of the past blade shows. The video looks like in was filmed in infrared or with a red lense as everything is red like this:

Surely someone else here saw the video?... I can't find it on Google or I'd post it. Literally, the most contrived piece of dung video I've ever seen but good for LoL'z... :D:rolleyes::foot:

This one is not from 2012 but it is just as weird.

Your average Blade HQ video spotlight on the makers, only this guy doesnt have a booth. Looks like he is in the reception / some random sitting place.

Pretty weird riiiight? I think by now its clear like (clear) water.

I think I remember this one, wasnt the hotel room dark so you could see the laser? I think the knife was a chopper for bladesports.
