QTRMSTR Knives being sketchy (screenshot photo)

This one is not from 2012 but it is just as weird.

Your average Blade HQ video spotlight on the makers, only this guy doesnt have a booth. Looks like he is in the reception / some random sitting place.

Pretty weird riiiight? I think by now its clear like (clear) water.

I would think that they hang out in the lobby, as to not have to pay for a booth/space at the show? Probably the best of both worlds, they dont pay for the booth, but can still meet up with industry people who are in town at he same time.

This is the Jared West I remember...

He looks like he has been through some rough times in that previous video though. From the things his own father spoke about him, I wouldn't touch his knives with a 10ft pole.

However poor this picture is, it illustrates the laser knife concept.

The fact that it's named Wikas (sounds an awful lot like wicked-ass)does not help one bit.

Also, as much of a knife tard as I'm becoming, I've never heard of bladesports before.

*Wikus, my bad.

And now he has worked with Chip Foose? Really?

That Deviantart-like, roughly finished fantasy picture that looks like D&D fanfiction does not help him one bit.

I'm not a professional scammer (nor a scammer at any level at all), not even particularly interested in bussiness running, but I think he'd do better with a discrete, simple website much like the ones of big makers. Also, the name is very off putting, and so is the logo. And dont get me started on those ineptly designed prices.

I get the Mantis and QRTRMSTR "Hi-tech, many angles, futuristic" approach, but this is just nuts.

QTRMSTR...

QuiTteR MaSTeR?

QuarTeR-Mick-STRider?

QuaTRo MuSTaRd?

I feel like there may be a hidden meaning here...

Hello everyone,

I'm probably beating a dead horse here. But I was recently intrigued by QTRMSTR's collaboration with Austin Weiss on one of their new knives. Austin is a respected fabricator and welder. And QTRMSTR seemed legit as well, although I had never seen them before.

I started to do research and realized they have a history of being sketchy and the knives might not be USA made like they claim them to be. As I was reading through these forums, they posted a picture on Instagram of the knife I was interested in. I figured I'd ask them about it.

I asked if their knives were made by Wayeah and if they were in fact made in China. THEY BLOCKED ME IMMEDIATELY. I know a company's instagram might not be the best indication of their legitimacy, but I have asked these kinds of questions before and have gotten prompt and proper responses.

They sure as hell know what they're doing in the marketing department at least. They get a lot of attention on social media. Oh well, just thought I'd drop in and share my experience with the hive.

I HAVE ADDED A SCREENSHOT IN A REPLY BELOW.

The screenshot was from the page of the guy who runs the shop. I was blocked by him as well soon after asking.

Thanks for sharing this information with us. I find it helpful to know that they still are still playing the same games, and I hope that lots of people new to BF see this. Id never consider buying or supporting this shady company. The only thought that sounds worse is the thought of actually using one of these terrible knives. The fact that the only even remotely appealing designs are those that look to be stolen from hard-working, respectful makers doesn't help their case [emoji107]

I actively work to view the world around me with open eyes and open mind, but when I look at QTRMSTR knives all I see is VRTHNG (see what I did there? 😜 ) that is wrong with our knife community and knife design in general condensed into limited run, over-priced, moderately performing (at best), pieces of crap.

Easily the most vomit-inducing company and designs currently on the market...

LMAO,wow what a steaming Crock of Bravo Sierra ! So now he's a master blade smith too. I don't know who's crazier Jared West or the clueless Dealers that continue to believe him and pedal his snake oil ?

This is what I keep wondering too; I follow QRTMATER on Instagram just to see the LOL pieces of angular turds they're "creating"...

There's quite a few Instagram famous people that are touting their stuff as top notch to the masses as well...:foot::grumpy:

Man, I watched that BladeHQ vid from the lobby. One of those knives looks like he almost completely ripped off the Kershaw TiLT :thumbdn:

Jared can't make a decent knife, but he is very good at marketing.

Warren Thomas Knives does not approve any reproduction of it's designs by Quartermaster Knives.
There was a limited arrangement under Mantis Knives with Jared West with the friction folder and coin knife, ANY and ALL other copied designs are NOT approved by WT. Thank you.
If their sketchy manufacturing origins doesn't run you off, hopefully this will.
