QTRMSTR Knives being sketchy (screenshot photo)

until you glance at the knives or read how they spell their name.

Yeahhh.... 'cause if that alone doesn't set off a person's BS detector, and the crazy prices and info-mercial Sham-Woxy-Clean "marketing" style don't dissuade them... caveat emptor. *shrug*

There's at least one channel on youtube where folks put hilarious voice overdubs on top of goofy commercials... someone really ought to turn them on to some of the more, shall we say, "colorful" knife company videos... :D

The (team) at Quartermaster Knives, QTRMSTR Knives & Mad Blacksmith are Jared West and a knife factory in China.

This made me genuinely LOL. "Sham-woxy-clean"...gonna' have to steal that one. :p I think West keeps whipping up these spin-off companies to try to keep duping people when they catch on to one of the brands being garbage...but his ego causes him to still plaster his own name over everything and make the connection obvious. :D

Well crap... I just ordered this very knife last night. It was an impulse buy, saw it on the BladeHQ instagram feed and was hooked. It checked all my boxes, decent blade material, wharncliffe, relatively simple design, like the looks, at the top of my price range but doable. It looked like a limited run(pic of blade showed _of 300) so I pulled the trigger. Having never heard of the company, this morning I decided to do some research. Crap! You ruined it! What a joke! This guy is insane. There's no need to be this shady unless, well, you're shady. Crap! This is the only knife they produce that is even remotely attractive. Calling bladeHQ to cancel when they open... *grumble grumble*
I'm a novice compared to the rest of you. I own a few Kershaw Blurs and some ZT stuff. Nothing crazy and nothing north of $200. This was unfortunately eye opening. While I'm currently dejected, I'm glad I always do my research, even if after the fact. i'm also a new member as of this morning. Thanks, I think.
I figure maybe one of you can recommend a suitably sexy wharncliffe replacement? Off to browse. -Dave

Been there done that, don't worry. We learn as we go.
I doubt their knives even actually are limited edition. :D

There's posts almost daily on Instagram by people with a substantial amount of followers still pushing QRTMATER knives. :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

Not sure why people keep falling for the scam, unless they're part of it... ;):D

Even though it's been said before it bears repeating; I don't see how this is a knife manufacturing facility but I could be wrong.:foot:

It's not! I'm at a loss in reference to the retailers that continue to sell these knives and parrot the B/S about MADE IN TEXAS BY TEXANS.
Price Daniel Sr. State Office Building ;)

I'm surprised a reputable dealer like BladeHQ would sell these knives.

Who wants to let these guys know what they're actually selling?... ;):foot:

The issue with Dealers has been thrashed to pieces in at least one other thread. I think they're wrong and should not be selling these products - but they (and the mods here) seem to think that it's too great a burden to know where their knives come from. As a general proposition that may be true. However, when there is enough information in the public domain to raise a serious question as to whether a product is falsely claiming Made in USA, I think the burden shifts to the Dealer to obtain proof that the claim is true. Proof is more than "he says they're Made in USA in a really convincing voice."

Careful... it's trademarked. Use that phrase without express written permission, and my crack team of heavy-hitter attorneys will be all over you like cold on ice :D

Don't be too alarmed by all that. "Likes" and "Follows" and even comments and pics on social media don't necessarily mean doodly squat. You can literally buy them outright, by the thousands... I've been solicited several times by "marketing firms" that do nothing but use bots and proxies and bogus emails/profiles to generate as many "followers" and clicks to my website as I might be interested in paying for, to boost page ratings, search engine results, etc. Even "reputable" companies like Google and Facebook offer similar "techniques" like that. It's really nothing more than another, slightly more subtle form of spam, or paying for a larger ad in a magazine.

Anyway, there's not much sense getting all riled-up about companies like that, unless you're one of the designers that's apparently getting blatantly ripped-off... and at that point, good luck.

Buy knives you like from people you at least sort-of like and trust, not advertising and hype. *shrug*

I'm playing dumb and trying to get as far as I can with respect to visiting their supposed Texas factory:

No response yet, but not blocked, either!

By the way, I looked up the "Q Collection" thing and it's just awful. Another way to fleece the tasteless saps who buy their crap.

Hey, you never know; there might just be an underground lair churning out knives in them thar hills...

The "Q" thing actually makes sense sort of; their goofy designs are pretty comparable to the wacky stuff seen in the fashion world "collections".

"The Mad Blacksmith?" Really? I doubt he even has a fire-resistant lab coat, let alone round safety glasses. :thumbdn:

UPDATE!! Apparently "Q Collection" members can arrange for tours of their Texas factory:

So, who here's gonna do it? Or at the very least, who here is going to track down an existing "Q Collection" member and get them to try to arrange a tour of the so-called factory?
