Quartermaster Knives....WTF

Like shiny said, they have at least placed a disclaimer on those specific sales pages that the claims of being made in the USA need to be taken with caution as they can not be substantiated.

OK. Now I understand. I agree that NG deserves credit for the new language.

Guys look at the source. Disclaimers and such are only needed by the morally ambiguous.

I'd be more concerned if they were dog treats or luncheon meat from the people's republic. NG has done more than most.

I see our name mixed in these posts alot, however we stopped carrying the quartermaster line very early this year after some concerns about the origin of their products. The current listings on our website are priced pretty much at my cost to clear them out.

Like most of you, I've raised this question over and over with our distributor and have yet to see any real solid proof of where the knives are made.

Gpknives coming through. When I look to purchase my next knife I will definitely be checking out these vendors.

Thank you very much for responding, GPKnives is my favorite!

customer service is also the best and for me shipping is the fastest since they are closer than the other shops are.

This is a fantastic thing to see a dealer do, I'll definitely be making my next purchases from you guys. I liked you quite a bit before, I like you guys more now! Definitely inspires more confidence and shows a great view of your business integrity.

I emailed Blade HQ last week about displaying Quartermaster's dubious country of manufacture and got this response today.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I understand your concern, as it has been expressed by multiple people.

We have removed any mention of country of origin as it has not been proved one way or another.

Also, we have pressed the question to Quartermaster, but they have been resolute in their answer.

Again, until there is solid proof, the country of origin will remain removed from Quartermaster items.

Glad to see the dominos start to tip on Quartermaster's made in USA claims. New Graham, and Blade HQ have modified the description, and GP Knives has discontinued selling them, other than their remaining stock. Awesome to see dealers taking action on this issue.

The fact that Quartermaster is unable to prove to dealers that they make their knives in the US, and that some dealers are dropping them as a result, is the strongest evidence yet, in my opinion, that Quartermaster is lying (as if any more evidence were needed).

Yep seems pretty obvious doesn't it...didn't really know this was an issue until reading this thread. Thanks BF!

On topic, I agree with your post. I know blade hq was called out on this before and blatantly blew it off.

I won't support them anymore either.

BladeHQ and bladehq are the same company. bladeplay's website is saturated with knockoffs like Lightening OTFs and custom balisongs from Terry Guinn and Ikoma. They're not going to stop because of a few grumblings about Quartermaster. They may be a supporting dealer here, and I know they provide great customer service, but they'll never get money from me.

EDIT: Saw the more recent posts, and it's great that dealers are modifying the descriptions for the QM knives they sell. If dealers stop selling them, maybe they'll rethink labeling them "Made in USA" to justify the extra mark-up, and simply be honest about country of origin and charge less. From what I've read, they sound like well made knives so people will still buy them. But Jared West has never been known for being honest. The S60V scandal, screwing over his father, rip-off designs, etc.

That makes 3 of the larger dealers taking action........most excellent!!!
This truly shows the character of the character running that joint.
If the fact he refuses to answer a simple question from his dealers, he'd rather lose their support???
Sounds quite intelligent to me.......ugh.
Any more proof needed??? Don't think so.
