Quartermaster Knives....WTF

Until there is action by the FTC either way, these threads are just a merry go round of babble.
I challenge you to prove QM's legitimacy. I've been trying for 2 weeks to visit their facility and they won't allow me. If it smells like poop and looks like poop, then it probably is poop.

This is like Pizzagate.

No, its nothing like pizzagate. In fact not even a little bit. Just because YOU dont want to do the research and dont want to read all the evidence and dont care it doesn't make this a non issue. Its just an issue you dont care about. A persons ignorance on an issue doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist.

It's not the accused that has to prove innocence, it is the prosecution that has to prove guilt.

BTW, I went to Spyderco in Golden, CO and asked to see the factory. They said they could not because of liability. They must be hiding things from me, so my only conclusion is that they do not make knives in Golden.

I have read all the evidence. In fact if you look at earlier threads, I have stated this same position. I am opting for facts, not made up stories. That is not taking the path of ignorance.

That's in a court of law and, looking around, I'm pretty sure nobody snuck a judge and bailiff into my living room. If so they would almost certainly have made me put on pants by now. Also, in civil court the standard is a preponderance of evidence, which has pretty well been compiled against Quartermaster and you've made literally no effort to address. So I'd say the burden of proof is firmly in your court if you're still in denial at this point, sport.

There has been no proof. Also, no action by the FTC.

^ I love that quote! :D

Happy New Year, Screwdriver. I actually had a couple of screwdriver's last night...with a splash of cranberry juice.

What I find interesting, is the fact that these stories have been going around for years...and there is no new evidence.

The evidence that is all ready out there is pretty damning. And your argument of evidence is laughable considering the company itself has not done much of anything to disprove the claims. And what little evidence they did provide was more proof of wrong doing that of being a legitimate USA company. You can take the opposing side for the sake of doing so if you want to, but many of us have our "i told you so" ready and waiting.

There has been no proof. Also, no action by the FTC.

There has been evidence repeatedly presented to you. Trying to deny it just makes you look silly.

Also, "They're not committing a crime because they haven't been caught," is incredibly weak logic. As I've pointed out before that kind of logic absolutely confirms that they're stealing designs from Warren Thomas because he said so and they haven't sued him for defamation.

Says you...the one using internet "words" as proof....Like I said. Pizzagate.

BTW, I am sure you will use this thread as more "proof" and not even understand the irony.

What do you need as proof? If you dont believe what has been shown over the years to be proof, especially the pictures of the Chinese bearing system complete with the same inset steel washers and tooling marks from other Chinese made knives then I am forced to assume you and others take the opposing side for the sake of doing so rather than any real knowledge or care of the issue. What about the picture Quartermaster posted of their CNC machine that just happens to be identical to the CNC that WE knives uses in china right down to the tooling and jigs? I swear some of you would deny the existence of aliens even as you are being sucked up into the ship. But given your signature I can see where one might lean on the saying "ignorance is bliss"

Wait, so the giant building that says Spyderco and is located on Spyderco Way in Golden Colorado exactly where they say is what, a figment of pur collective imagination?

if pictures of identical manufacturing equipment, bearing systems unique to only Chinese knives, lack of physical address and/or manufacturing facility and bill of lading for shipments from a well known clone manufacturing facility in a large industrial complex in china are not enough for you to at least consider it as a possibility then yes that is a path to ignorance. There is a hell of a lot more proof supporting that they are Chinese than USA. And no, sir you are wrong. If a company claims USA MADE they have an obligation to prove such a claim if requested to. Just because there is no current legal action being taken doesn't mean they aren't looking into it. And when a company hides behind a PO box and wont address the issue it becomes harder to make the case. When you ask a company to provide a physical address to their manufacturing facility and that address shows a picture of a 3 story wood panel house and inground pool of course that isn't proof of anything. Just the fact that they are hiding where and how their products are manufactured. You would deny stealing cookies with your hand stuck in the jar. "but the cookies are still in the jar! just because my hand is in said jar and I cant remove it without dropping the cookie doesn't mean I was trying to steal one. You have no proof. " Whatever man, keep taking up the opposition for the sake of doing so.

Ignorance is bliss

Love how he goes straight to the FTC as the ultimate answer to the question.

Their is so many facts that prove without a doubt that qmaster are selling Chinese knives from his living room.

Anyways he is just trolling just ignore him

Woaaa.. wow..
Holy mother of shill alert..

I have no dog in this fight never heard of this company.. But....
was just randomly browsing here and reading though posts... and these posts by Screwdriver really caught my eye raising HUGE red flags as someone beyond willful ignorance, trolling, and looks to have hallmarks someone that is on the take shilling for them and not even trying to hide the fact. I have a collection of spyderco and as everyone knows, they are an established company that has done factory tours and has tons of video proof. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlsoX_Hkd1c

The burden of proof IS on the vendors/OEMs regarding country of Origin by FTC trade law so starting off with a completely false equivocation then go on with looks like a blatant shill, just reaks to high heavens here.

Just calling it for how it appears, creepy as $%ck!

Not "ignorance." "Willful ignorance": intentional and blatant avoidance, disregard or disagreement with facts, empirical evidence and well-founded arguments because they oppose or contradict your own existing personal beliefs.

So call matters of public record or pictures from Google Earth "no proof" or "internet words," close your eyes, hands over ears and repeat "no," "no," "no" . . . .

Because if "Quartermaster" brand knives are sold as a scam, that would mean the reality-deniers who bought them were suckers. They can't have that.

Ahh.. Good point, I was not considering there could be a history here. So you are saying this can be a case of willful ignorance because of some that spent hundreds on a china knife would rather publicly deny and subvert the truth rather accepting the possibility they got taken for suckers. That is sad, but good to know. The main reason joined BladeForums was to get real non shill feedback from real-world knife users so I can make informed decisions. ALL that all hinges on the credibility and unbiased fairness of members here. So when I see a member that goes off the rail on bias or subverting truth it sets off huge flags to me and an afront on the very core principle and value of BF.

So you are saying that because I said that Spyderco would not allow me to see the factory on my visit, that I am really using that as definitive proof that they do not make knives there? That just me saying that on the internet it proof?

Or was I just showing how ridiculous these proof threads are?

Tada!

^ I agree- a reputable company such as Spyderco, should never have been brought into this discussion! :thumbdn:

I do agree with most of the poster's here. But what I can't understand: if these knives are in fact made outside of the USA; why hasn't the FTC taken any type of action against QM knives?
