You need a DEK.
Oh lord don’t I know it!!!

The other side of the river and all that :)

Be aware that if your hands are larger, the DEK is a poor substitute for the FK2 that you just sold :D

Edit by moderator: I would like to point out, to those who are new here, he is just screwing around. It is difficult to infer tone in text, but this is said jokingly. My forum is a low drama zone, if he were serious, this would be a problem. I'm only mentioning something because I have seen some folks who are new here be confused by this.

I am pretty sure that guy is a certified ding dong, so I don’t know if I would trust any of that dribble.

At the same time, I can tell you with no uncertainty that, so far, there hasn’t been a CPK made that will stop you from
wanting “just one more”. Trust me, I have been looking for it, and it isn’t out there. Just joint the CPK of the Month Club like me and you’ll be alright.

This is truth. I thought I’d stop at the BFK, but once I saw the upcoming SDFK, I knew I just had to have it. I would love to add a HDFK to the mix.

I fear new things…Any real users have first hand experience using Magnacut? Sometimes “professional reviewers” are so excited about being the first to evaluate the new I am skeptical of their objectivity (I would count you as a real user, Nathan),
I’m more of a knife addict than a real user. But I have used Magnacut for a bit of cardboard cutting. Cardboard is pretty nasty to knife edges. I’ve been pleased with how it’s held up there. The fact that it’s salt-proof level stainless is some pretty good icing on the knaf cake.

Still can’t wait to see what Nathan does with it in sweet hollow ground form.

It is my intention to have the best in the industry. The heat treats prescribed by Larin work pretty well and it's possible there may be no additional gains to be had, but I'm going to work on it as if I were developing a cure for cancer.

I finally have the hundreds of pounds of material that I need to work up a full heat treat optimization like I did for Delta 3V. It is a work in process.

One truism for me with CPK's is that I grow to recognize and appreciate the many subtle design features they have over time and use.
Yeah I don’t think you can know if a CPK “works” for you until you’ve actually used it. I didn’t love the HDFK until I did some chopping with it and then I realized how great the handle is!

That's a feature! We worked on that!

These are things that are not obvious when you look at pictures on the internet.

I am literally setting the vises on the table of the machining center right now.

I would really enjoy a WIP of the Magnacut optimization process, unless you need to protect it as intellectual property. Methodology would be incredibly interesting to learn.

If that is not possible, would you be willing to follow 1 knife, whichever model, from start to finish? Such as:
Day 1 here is the plate steel shipment *picture*
Day 2 here is Sadie pissing on the plate steel *no picture necessary*
Day 3 setting up the vises on the machining table

Perhaps it is a lot of tedious work, but I am quite intrigued by your day to day doings, and would be captivated by a day to day account of what it takes to be Nathan Carothers and Co.

Every CPK I’ve handles melts in your hand. Nathan is the best in the business when it comes to handles, just my opinion.

And why hasn’t one of you bought those FK2 rag micarta scales yet? I’m having a real hard time not snagging them 😂
Speaking of which, I do enjoy using my DEK for grilling, the handle spot for fine work let’s itself for a chef handle.

Also, we need a 10in cooking knife Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist
