Hypothyroidism is what is possibly suspected in Kobe's case. My understanding, like you mentioned, is that it's manageable with medication, and that it doesn't change the expected lifespan. We're going to see after a month if changes to his food intake, (even more than we had already), make a difference.My previous dog had hyperthyroidism. Aside from getting fat initially and having to take one pill a day for the rest of his life it was a non-issue. Hopefully it's something easy enough like that, E.
Yeah, flea, tick and other nasty asshole preventatives ain't cheap. Worth it though.
The whipworm is a different thing since most of the canine worm meds don't work on whipworm...Simparica Trio, Iverhart, etc. So, we now have one that handles whipworm and tapeworm beyond the norm of heartworm, hookworm and roundworm. First he has to take a course of meds for three days, and again in three months and again some months later to try to get rid of the existing parasites and keep new ones from hatching.
I hope all of you have good results getting your buddies back on the mend. Our lives are diminished without them.
