RICKYHAWK: Took 36 days!! to receive the knife... with help from Good/Bad/Ugly Thread

I would be willing to bet this character has some issues of his own! Maybe like an alchy or something? Common thing with alchys/ addicts theyre always coming up with stories! Very good liars! It wud make sense! The money has prob been spent. And who knows where the knife is? He could ve sold it on another forum. Sounds like youre on top of this but def give the ultimatum and get the authorities involved if need be! Good luck! I hate reading these deals gone bad posts! Have a problem with dishonest people!

I think he probably will send the knife off Tuesday. Without being told there would be action taken if not, I'm not so sure it would have happened, at least not for a long time, if ever. I myself having had an expensive knife kept for a long period of time, without any return of my emails know these threads will motivate slackers and people that would never make things right, to come forward and make it right, sometimes fairly swiftly. (along with the promise of legal action)

The thing I find strange is, Campbellclanman had a very long wait too, with this same individual and listened to the same type story of why and was largely ignored, when he would inquire as to where his paid for merchandise was. When I look at someone failing to deliver paid for merchandise in a timely manner, in different instances and using the same excuse, I tend to be suspicious.

Yea, definitley. The feeback system only works if the negative feedback is also documented. Otherwise theres no point. Not everyone has time
to go through a bunch of threads and posts to do detective work.

I understand some are wary of using an absolute term like "Negative" when maybe they got their knife after a long delay, or the guy refunded their money eventually after not shipping, etc. But even if you don't do anything else, just post the story here and let future traders make their own decision.

You can post something like "John Doe and I agreed to a trade (add link to trade post) and agreed to ship the next day insured with DC. I sent mine as promised, and verified that he received it two days later. After many emails and excuses I finally got my knife 3 weeks later. I did not get ripped off, but I would hestiate to trade with this person again unless he ships first and I ship after I recieve his knife or money."

This would at least allow people to make an informed decision.

I've had a number of forumites ask me about my recent transaction
with RH. I bought a R. Doucette Ti Framelock from him and everything
went through the way it should have. I do have empathy for those of
you who are in this predicament, and I hope this is resolved.I do feel
a sense of trepidation knowing that I think I just missed the accident
on the freeway.....it could've been me two knives down. Best to all of you.

Anyone notice that there are more of these 'questionable' types here on BF these days? House of cards...is it a personal issue? This case here is starting to remind me of the Maniord debacle. Perhaps it is the economy, but when the stories unfold, many of the offenders are not correcting the situation. They even seem reluctant to change or smooth things out. It is really a shame. The etiology of such behavior can usually be traced to communication, sex or money issues. Buyer beware!

On 8/3/11 I "purchased" an Emerson from Ricky and promptly paid. Same excuses that have been aired here. Slow responses, etc. Last email was one week ago -sent on way home, should be there Wed, Thursday latest. Unfortunately I paid using the gift/personal tab so I'm out the buck and a half. But this was gift for a young man going on his first deployment. He left Sunday with another Emerson in his pocket. Sh*t happens to the best of us and I understand and have pushed that rock uphill many times. I consider it a cost of my continuing education in life. But the shame is I deal with people in good faith and my word is my bond. Here in Texas we say "get a rope!"

I don't care what is going on in your life, if you have someones money and you are able bodied enough to do so, you should be honorable enough to make it to the post office and mail their paid for item away. Seriously, even if a relative did pass away and even if you are having romantic troubles, it isn't impossible to go and mail off a package. Maybe a delay of a few days, but a month, or more? Come on, most employers won't let you stay off work for longer than 3 days, if a close relative dies. So no, I don't buy the entire story at all, people that say this crap and delay on and on are FOS, in my opinion.

So true, the only way there is an excuse to delay for more than a few days or so is if the seller HIMSELF is in a coma or dead. All it takes is slipping away for one second to the post office, I know because I've been there. What I find more interesting is that he hasn't appeared to man up to his mistakes. He knows his rep is shot, hopefully he doesn't use that as an excuse to take the money and run. I hope the local authorities do get involved if needs be. Again to the OP, I feel for you man. Nothing is worse than wondering if you just got ripped. Hope all ends well.

Sh*t. Just found this thread after being directed here from a fellow forumite. My timeline:

June 3: sent ~$650 via paypal for a batch of knives.

June 15: hadn't shipped yet, so I asked him to temporarily hold off due to the Canadian postal strike at the time.

June 30: strike ends, I give Ricky the ok to ship

July 2: Ricky replies apologizing for delay due to a car accident in the family.

July 10-19: repeated emails sent to Ricky asking for shipping status - no reply.

July 20: open paypal claim; Ricky replies within MINUTES. Calls me, convinces me to close paypal claim.

Aug 5:Called Ricky, he picks up, tells me the knives had shipped "on Wednesday", and will email me the tracking info shortly.

Aug 6-24: no further contact from Ricky via email/phone

Aug 25: Ricky emails, says he had the knives ready to ship in his car(told me he had shipped 3 weeks ago!). I gave him the benefit of the doubt in case I had heard him wrong on the 5th. Assures me he will send "by 4PM" the next day.

Present: No contact since.

He was here reading this thread about an hour ago, then he left. I figured he'd have something to say, but no not a word as of yet.

He can whine all he wants about the dark side of life, I say if you've got a person's and don't ship the item off right away you are at best an inconsiderate slacker, at worst a thief.

Dude... Are you f***ing serious? This cat is full of $h!^. Most definitely on drugs or alcohol. The compulsive lying is out of control man. Sounds like this addict needs to go. Open the claims and call his local PD. It's clear you can't believe a thing he says.

Sounds like poor Ricky is beset by one tragedy after the other, doesn't it? His Uncle died, his Aunt days later, marriage problems, family car accidents. The "dark side of life" is kicking his butt! I'm surprised he had the time and mental fortitude, to make all those for sale threads and take all those nice pictures, and collect people's money, with all of this continual hardship upon him.:(

Boy have we ever been chumped! RICKYHAWK is RICKY1971 over on JD. My little tan Emerson "sold" over there on June 30, 2011!

You may be SOL, but you still may be able to report him to PayPal for abusing the Gift function. It seems like he's scared of losing his Paypal access, maybe this will close his ability to run future scams.

Rickyhawk took time out of his tragedy filled life to log on today, I spied his name at the bottom of this thread, yet he had NOTHING to say?

I think there are enough instances of failure to deliver that the mods need to be called in to consider shutting down his account. This is BS.

I had some transactions with Rickyhawk also. Though very slow I did eventually get my knives 3 weeks later. I was able to get his home phone# from anywho.com. I also sent Ricky a picture of one of my custom knives from the 50's. He caught me at a weak moment I sold it with the condition I could get it back. Ricky told me this knife would be in his own collection and when I was ready to get it back he would sell it back to me. I agreed to sell it only on this condition. Three days later I saw it on Ebay for $200 more that what he paid for it and my heart sunk. That was one of my biggest mistakes. I loved that knife and should have never let it go. I had it for many years and planned to pass it down to my son. Will never deal with him again. I will just say to be careful to anyone that deals with this man. Well I spoke my peace. Just wish I had spoken earlier. Sorry Guys

This seems like ArtSig1 all over again...get the authorities (postal inspectors and police) after this POS

ETA: Post his full name, address, and phone number so other people don't get robbed by this guy
