Ritter MK1 in CPM M4

Mine arrived today. Beautiful. I am a user, not a collector, and I expect to enjoy these knives until I leave them to my son in my will. Worth the wait. Quit crying in your beer!

(PS: to those who opted for the S30V version; good for you. That is a fine steel. You won't be disappointed.)

I just got mine today. This diamond like carbon coating is unlike any of the other black coating I have seen on blades. It's almost a mirror polish and looks like black chrome. How does it look over time when its worn down?

Curse you guys. I bought one, I had been looking at them months ago and was thinking about it hard, after seeing the responses in this thread, and seeing that I didn't miss the opportunity to purchase one... I had to. Even though I just lost my job today, too. Talk about improper money management (I'm actually pretty good, and the HR department from my old job actually called and had a job interview lined up with a different company for me on Friday. Weird, huh).

Ordered: 4/15, received shipping 4/16. I doubt these will be in stock for very long, but that's awesome that there is no wait what so ever now.

Man you ordered at the perfect time. I've been waiting since January and mine just shipped today (4/16) as well.

I recieved one a week ago and am so impressed with it that I actually ordered another one. I like the combination of the blade shape, steel, and geometry so much that I just had to have a backup incase something happened to mine way down the road. I wouldn't want to try to hunt one of these down in 10 years! And yes the stonewashed blade coating is awesome!

I ordered my second one on monday and it has said backordered since then. I hope I didn't wait too long. I called Aeromedix not this friday but the last to ask how many full size were left and he said not too many at all. I asked "What like 50?" and he said "No, no much less than that!" So good luck to all of us that ordered this week.

What a fantastic blade. Simply amazing finish! I don't think I can say more about this knife that hasn't already been said before. I loved the 556, but this one is infinitely better in my mind!

I came this -->||<-- close to canceling my order for one large and one small. My small arrived on Saturday and I have to say I'm glad I didn't Based on the performance of several other M4 Benchmades and my other Ritter Grips, these are going to be amazing knives. Thanks to Doug, Dr. Blue and Eric for hanging in there. I'm glad I hung in there too.

how is the blade centering on your ritter m4 grips? on the benchmade forums it seems a few people have been reporting problems with blade centering. maybe a few slipped through QC

I don't know about others, but mine is problems-free. In fact I like the knife (especially the very nice coating!) so much that I place an order for another one.

Mine is good, and so is the one my older son got. I did ask about that when I talked to AeroMedix about my order. Early on, they were apparently assuming that Bnechmade had QC'd all the knives and were shipping them as received. After a few early reports of off-center blades, they started checking themselves before shipping to buyers. They told me that they believe that the knives shown on websites were all/mostly knives shipped before AeroMedix started doing their own QC check.

Short version: if you order now, you should be fine.

i have a mini on the way, and im sorry if it's already been mentioned (i didnt read all 16 pages) but how hard is the blade hardened to? i've heard benchmade does their m4 a little softer than spyderco does and i was just wondering.

Benchmade runs their M4 between 60-62. I have not been able to find Sal's post but the Gayle Bradley was at about 65 while the mules were at about 62

My RSK S30v version came with an off centered blade :barf: I hate that. I was able to get it closer by tightening the pivot very tight and making it a pain in the a** to deploy fast (the way I like 'em).

I PM'ed Critter and he wrote back "that's not right," - send it to Benchmade or back to Aeromedix and it would be repaired or replaced. Pobably repaired by BM or replaced at Aeromedix, I'd assume.

Just thought I'd let you guys know if anyone else got a stinker.

i admit after a report from a friend that uses his cpm m4 folder i decided to buy one and choosed the mk1 , it should be arriving next week and i am looking foward putting it to the test, i want my edc to be able to hold an edge and so far none of the folders i own do , made out of sv30, 6k and cpm154, d2 and 3v.

If they won't hold an edge for you chances are that cpm m4 will not meet your expectations either.

You don't happen to carve statues out of stone with your knives do you? :D

When you think about it, that's actually the best, and most concise, report on this (or any other) knife!

Hi ar0maticdecay -

My example was perfect. I have the full-sized version.

I had the same issue. But someone here once posted a fix to an off-centered blade that has always worked for me. Basically, you open the blade, put the side of the tip on a table, hold the handle with one hand and put a lot of pressure on the pivot with the other hand in the direction that would seem, intuitively, to make things worse. But it makes it better. My blade is now centered.
