thanks Roger for the vote of understanding...back in my earlier posts is one reason I mention knowing real names ..it's hard to get to know oilman? :) and the gravity of thought that went into that or other posts from guys we don't know or can't get to know...

I have only myself to blame for my lack of education guys plainly put..

I'm glad you took it with a little tongue in cheek like I meant it. I have no doubt that you are an intelligent and helpful person, I just find it hard to read your posts. I meant no disrespect by it. Group hug??

Nope, I'm an old guy.(Old = 33 :D ) And as far as the label goes I think it's funny who brings up Dungeons and Dragons references when they are making fun of people here. Oddly enough though they seem to know how to play. :D And yes, I did play when I was quite a bit younger. (Like 10 to 16. I even had decent luck with the ladies then too so it wasn't like I had to play.) :o So... if you can't make fun of yourself than who can you make fun of?

And the first beer is on me Dan. :thumbup:

I brought that up only because my younger son had a room mate in collage that was in the DandD hard... that kid was weird, IMO, not to put a label on him that he hadn't already himself :)
I got sheaths to make later...

Yep, I count myself among the D & Ders when it was owned by TSR, not Wizards of the Coast.
 
The buyer has the right to feel the way he does. He ordered something, paid, then paid in full. He has tried contacting the maker and nothing. When the maker comes forward he can tell his side. Then a decision can be made to accept it or not.

Someone has lived up to there part of the deal but not the other. This kind of thing can hurt a man trying to make a living with his hands, but that is the same reason we order there knives in the first place.

Cant argue with your logic there, but if you read the whole thread you will see that the maker has chimed in and is apparently in some kind of contact with the customer.

Well, I've read a lot of this thread, but just skimmed through the name calling and bad mouthing about Roger!!! I purchased a knife from Roger and there were no problems at all. I don't know the man but I know he is very well respected by many, many peaple here at BF. I personally would have tried to contact one of his friends here on the forums before I started all this mess. I will say one thing "IF THE OTHER MAKERS HERE AT BF ARE AT ALL LIKE ROGER, THEN I WOULD BE WILLING TO BUY A KNIFE FROM THEM AS WELL". Roger is a stand up guy trying to make it just like the rest of us! I will in the future purchase another custom from Roger Linger!!!!!!! He is not a thief at all, SIHT happens. Roger don't let this bump in the road stop you at all. Your work is too awsome!

After getting the WSK in question to my new sheath maker for the brown sheath that was originally requested the customer informed me he had bought another knife and demanded from me a full refund. I just minutes ago refunded to him the total of all payments he had previously sent me ($365). I had received the payments as U.S. currency and that is the currency I used in my remittance to him. I am happy to finally be rid of the knife and happier that its new owner is also.

and here is the final word I just received from the customer:

Whatever is on that Blade forum is THE TRUTH. Perhaps less than truth. MORE than one year, I waited and trusted your words and I got nothing but you taking my MONEY ONLY. What happened to Feb delivery ? did I ever complain to you ?? NO I DID NOT !! I was very nice to you . What you gave me is a stupid unreasonable EXCUSE. I will not erase any on that board. I wish I could get deep apology from you. How long did it take to pay me back ?? You were just wrong about how you should be treating your customer who had already paid you. I won't read any thing you will be sending. I won't even thank you for paying me back.

Sometimes we get what we call "The Order From Hell". This is when no matter what we do the order gets screwed up. Roger, I think you just had "The Knife From Hell". I offer my condolences to you. If you still have the knife let me know.

Yshimo, someday the roles will be reversed and you will be in the same situation. You will remember the final note you sent to Roger and it will twist your insides. I'm speaking from experience. :(
 
This seems to be a tragedy all the way around. A customer feels wronged, the maker feels bad but powerless to change the ill feelings that have developed. In the end you rely on your own actions. The two makers who stiffed me? I don't know what happened, and frankly that is not all that important to me. I take responsibility for my own behavior, not anyone else's. I saw no good coming from a public hanging here on the forums. That's why I walked away from my bad deals with the intent to never do business with those makers again. That's the only thing over which I have control. Who knows, such a decision may be my loss, it may be theirs, but we all have to make decisions in the absence of perfect knowledge, and then live with the results.

it's interesting, I would think he'd see it for what it was and would get over it. .
he missed out on the knife and was this close to getting it.. :eek:
it's too bad he's heading into a bitter life it sounds like to me or has been living one,
he had his chance to get Rogers number, but he didn't put in the effort to get it either..doesn't that make him at fault too :eek: just MHO
