RR-Cutlery problem

I was in this on page 1, but I think everyone may need to take a step back here. Things are getting heated and I don't want to see people banned over this type of mess. I'm not a mod or even really a valuable member, but I agree that this has escalated quite quickly. From what I can see the mods are doing what they can but I understand they can not just ban or force a member to a different membership level on suspicion alone. I think before we start mod jumping we All need to realize that they are volunteers who keep the forum running and are not paid for the hours they spend here. I could be wrong but that's how most forums I use work.

What I know is that you bought a knife. Paid for the knife. The knife was supposed to arrive in five days. It arrived in six. Before the sixth day you called your credit card and canceled the payment.

AND, he (bones555) still has the knife, (that he is presently being refunded for)! To add insult to injury, didn't he post (in this open thread), about shipping RR's knife to another member, for testing...how twisted is that! This 7 pages of drama, is so convoluted, excuse me, if my facts have become distorted!

I'll Say This About RR: His English/Grammar, Is A Heck Of A Lot Better Than Some Of The Member's Here!

I'm not backing anyone up.

First you made post where it didn't belong, not only that you said as much in the post. That creates work for me. It also started all this drama again. You didn't expose anything that wasn't already known and/or discussed. I asked the question because you said last night You had stopped the payment. That's just a little gun shy. Now today the next day you receive the knife and say you're not going to return it.

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but if this thread didn't expose anything new, there's obviously been some level of understanding that this seller is misleading buyers and breaking forum rules.

I find so much of this entire issue disturbing. From members and knifemakers acting harshly and posting questionable material to moderators knowingly allowing someone to conduct dishonest business and deceive forum contributors. I've only been a member for a few months, but this has opened my eyes to the definite need for caution when purchasing here.

Perhaps it all truly could have been handled differently, or it could have been totally avoided if the seller in question had been taken care of before this current "issue".

The issues regarding this maker, were over quality issues. Members are responsible to do THEIR OWN due diligence. BTW: The Mod's aren't mind readers, & rycen, didn't know the facts until a half a day later, when bones555 finally gave an update after trashing RR & disappearing 7 pages later...

FYI- NorvTex: The Mod's here on BF, have a difficult job to do, but they do a great job policing this forum, & make the difficult objective decisions that keep this place from spiraling out of control. Trust me on this: if a member crosses that line, they will be banned!

This is absolutely unbelievable.......again...

The absolute temerity by some of the people in this thread is astounding.........and shameful.
Some of you would be pretty livid if the shoe were on the other foot and another maker was attacking you in this manner or if another member had conducted business with you as in this thread..

RR Cutlery has paid to do business here, just as everyone else has. If you like his product or not is your choice and your prerogative to purchase or not.

The long and the short of this particular thread (RR Cutlerys status or product notwithstanding) is that a member ordered a knife and it was sent......Before it could arrive payment was stopped....for whatever reason.

The item will either be paid for or shipped back to RR Cutlery at the buyers expense or whatever arrangement he can make with RR Cutlery......

End of Story.

I don't wish to have to ban anyone, but some of you here really need to check yourselves and your actions/behavior here before proceeding.

I didn't mean to disrespect this forum, or it's moderators in any way, but if I did so I take responsibility and ask for forgiveness. I'm a member of many forums, and I openly admit that all of them run very differently. I'm trying to learn the ropes here, and truly don't want to gain the reputation of a trouble maker. I don't envy the job you moderators do, but I know that it's necessary, and I trust that you guys work tirelessly and thanklessly most of the time to maintain the integrity of this forum.

I deeply apologize if I've offended anyone. So far I've had nothing but positive dealings here on BF, and I look forward to many more in the future (though my bank account has suffered greatly already...).

Thank you Sir. Hopefully we all learned from this mess. Please, by no means, judge our makers and members because of the very few problems we have. No doubt you have heard the story about one bad apple. 99.9% of the makers and members here are honorable people. If there are any ligit problems the makers jump to make it right. I have found the people here truly care about all of us. The mods make a few goofs but keep in mind we all screw up at times. Hang in, it's a pretty cool place.

I asked for an address. The knife in question has not been sent to anyone. There is, by no means, anything twisted. The knife is sitting here waiting for a call tag to be returned. I have every email that was sent between myself and RR. I suggest you get the facts before you pass judgment. I have no problem posting the emails here. Back off and let it be behind us.

Plain and simple. I was told by R&R that it would be shipped and I would have a tracking number. After many emails R&R would not furnish a tracking #. Would that not raise a red flag to you? Get real. All you have to do is ask for the emails. I'll post them for all to see. Don't you think enough is enough?

Not getting a tracking number does not absolve you of paying for the item or making sure it is promptly and properly returned.
Unless you specifically paid for said tracking number, you have no reasonable expectation it be given to you. Otherwise it is a courtesy that it is provided, regardless of what anyone told you.

Thank you for your response. If I was not told that a tracking number would be supplied I would have not reacted the way I did. Again, would you like the emails posted or should we let this go? I would like to see this issue die or should we post it along with the soaps? Again, it's done, it's over. Let it go. Thank you.

No need to post emails really. It's pretty evident what is going on.
The thread will end when the item is paid for or returned.
I highly suggest that you do one or the other without waiting on RR Cutlery to do anything.

RR Cutlery, please let us know if the item is paid for or returned, or if neither has happened.

This thread derailed in a strange way. It did nothing new to expose RR (although I could see it leading to a change in his status). I knew from the get I would never do business with him, and I know others knew that as well. What this thread did do was expose some unbecoming traits in several other members and makers here, from premature escalation to towel head jokes to odd warnings and threats.

Captain Kirk, I guess you are new here. Indeed Bladeforums exhibits certain traits that may shock newcomers. I must say I never got completely used to it, but perhaps you will. I have thought about it, and I think it is related to the subject matter we talk about. This is no fine wine and watches forum. In here, members can get away with things that would simply horrify other communities, like you see in this thread. It is is not really about political correctness, it is more about coward vileness. Just the way things are around here.

I have seen it time again, but it aways leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Certain traits may shock newcomers, like calling out "coward vileness" without naming anyone -- which is tarring with a very broad brush. If you think it's wrong in others, why do it yourself? The forum just came to a point where we could stop and think about cleaning up the mess. Everyone, please relax.

Question for the mods. If the knife woodysone is sending to richard j for testing turns out to be substandard steel etc., will RR-Cutlery still be allowed to sell here as a knife maker?

If a manufacturer is found to be using less than the latest supersteel, will he be allowed to sell here on his manufacturer forum?
