SanRenMu 710

:D

LOL, I know eh! The 710 is decent for what it is, which is NOT a Sebenza. As much as I may want to try EDCing it I hate smooth SS handles so in maintaining my original purpose for buying these, they'll stay primarily as loaners so I don't have to lend out my better blades (Benchmade, Spyderco, RAT/ESEE knives, etc).
I'd love to buy a Sebbie some day and although I could probably afford one now, I just can't justify the price at this time. There are too many other things I'd prefer to spend my $$ on. One day maybe, one day.

i received two 710s in the mail last week and think they're great. perfect centering, tight lockup, no play, super fast, exceptionally sharp. exactly what one hopes for in a knife. furthermore, i have no qualms about using them.
love the design and expect to pick up a couple more.

In the same boat here. I just got one last week when I returned home from South Carolina. It far exceeded my expectations of what a knife that cost $9.49 shipped to my door would do. The fit and finish was also better on this then many of the other folders I own, at more than 5-10 times the cost. All in all, I think it is a great knife for the money.

I read all of the complaints about the 710 being a knockoff and decided that at the cheap price to see what all of of the fuss was about. I got it yesterday and I was kind of surprised at how nice it was for the price. I've certainly spent more to get a lot less. I can't imagine CRK being very concerned though.

So, in your mind, since other people copy knife designs, that makes it ok in this case? How is that logical? And, the Bradley Alias has been fairly well discussed on this forum. I do not own one of those, either.

Also, there is a sticky from Chris himself in the CRK forum where he asks that knock-offs be reported to him. So, yes, I'm going to assume he cares.

I'm pretty much done discussing this issue. It's pointless, and annoying.

How do you feel about this faker EMT? Do you think Benchmade feels threatened? Guy said it had decent F&F too.

What's vitriolic? Those guys think any knife is cool! :) Real blade lovers across the pond. Too bad they have crappy laws or prices that make them complain. Something must be wrong about the laws or customs or something. I'm not apprised of the situation but I sure hear them being upset about prices. It's too bad, fellow knife nuts suffering for lack of good knives is bad! :(

Well, it's not the point of this thread, but a good remark, so I hope that my little diversion isn't bothering others too much.
Over here the knife nuts like me often import knives themselves, by buying on websites and ebay. With a bit of luck, thy may bypass customs as well without extra charges. But even with taxes, they typically cost half of the American price. For example, a Spyderco costs typically in euro the number advertised in dollars on the spyderco website. Meaning, if you order from a reputed ebay seller the net cost will be maximum half of the price here.
Indeed, enterprising private importers must annoy the distributors over here, but hey, I also have to work for my money and I don't see any personal benefit of buying local.
Only non-knife-nut people buy expensive american brands in local shops.
I don't think I would have bought many Spydercos next to my Tenacious at local prices. Now I have 37 or so.

(back on topic here): Compared to local standards, San Renmus are even a better deal here than in the USA!

Honestly, F&F and all, but I cant stand this shit...

There is an important difference with the 710: the 710 doesn't claim to be something it isn't. It is not a fake. The design is indeed inspired by a certain illustrious folder, but not a copy. Just as some Benchmades may be mistaken for Spydercos for the uninitiated eye (and there seems to be far less fighting over that).

Well, I dont buy them either...

If it has a hole on the blade, it better be a Spyder on it as well.

EMT_Lee - Where I was going was that the knife is such an obvious fake that you could never be fooled but the poster bought it and liked it enough to put it in his display case (I agree on the trash can :) )

So I don't get why the SRM 710 for e.g. what make you so upset since it's like the difference between a Posrche and a little red wagon - using the small Sebenza "look". Who would care or lose money? I don't think Mr. Reeve's Sebenza (small) is threatened in the least by this little sucker. It's a throw away knife to me - YMMV. I have no quarrel with you but I don't understand your obvious hatred of or moral dilemna with the little Chinese folder. :)

In a nutshell are you saying that you guys get these USA knives for less than we do here? If that's true - go away and leave our knives alone d*mmit! Buy some of those Farfenuggens or whatever they are. No pity now. :) :p

No, i pay the same price as you do, but add slightly higher shipping. In total an american brand usually costs me maximum half of the price here in European shops.

So you want to buy locally then I assume, if you only pay 1/2 price. You may mean 1/2 what it costs to ship it to you from here....omg

How about if you have time? How much is Spyderco Military G-10 shipped to you from US - compared to if you buy locally?

You might as well use dollars or we can do currency conversion. This is very interesting to me. I hope it's not a bother as I'd like to understand. :)

What he means is he can buy on the net for half the price of what he can buy locally. (I think ). The situation is very similiar in Australia , except I suspect the range is much less. I have NEVER seen a benchmade knife in the stores (a genuine one) , Spyderco is rare but can be found , kershaw is pretty rare also. you can find Buck knives if you feel like paying 140$ for a 110. Last time I looked at a tenacious it was 70 or 80$. A vic swisstool is about 150$ and a Leatherman wave is over $200. As far as I can tell these prices have forced people to buy on the net , and in return regular camping and hunting stores reduce the range they carry (claiming customs restrictions)
So yeah , SRM knives are a fantastic bargan user here in OZ , even more than in the USA or even Europe.

Indeed I buy in the USA because American brands cost me more than double if I buy them locally.

Why does an American website knife (let's pretend a SRM 710 is one to stay on topic) - cost 1/2 more or less, to order from the States than in your local stores?

There must be reasons and I supppose the answers are in a business forum. I should log in to a couple of business boards I belong to and ask this. I don't ship outside of the CONUS so it's never come up, but a lot of the members do. Thanks guys. :)

SRM 710's the black one kinda sucks IMHO - stay with the silver one! :D :p

If it has a hole on the blade, it better be a Spyder on it as well.

I believe Sal said SMR makes knives for Spyderco, so do you really think that's warranted?

I was responding to Dagon, which said, that some BM´s have holes like Spydercos do.

What I tried to say:
If a knife has a hole in the blade, it should be a Spyderco (or a Byrd, I give you that).

Cziv , its not just knives (or the 710) , amost everything is cheaper in the US it seems . you guys pay peanuts for most stuff far as I can tell. Food , Petrol , housing , In fact its been noted that food that we export to you is actually cheaper for you to buy in the US than it is for us in our own country. But then again we have free health care and a minimum wage thats waay higher than the USA as far as I know. USA vendors would do well to offer shipping to AUS since by our standards we're still getting a bargain in most cases even with shipping , even tho some have 40$ shipping on a velcro patch worth $5 (whats with that ??).
