I have seen many thieves act out in this manner when called out as a thief. not saying he is a thief, but I certainly wouldn't ask this guy to hold my wallet.

He will almost certainly chargeback his gold membership when the mods drop the well deserved hammer.

What do we know about you? You have 3 pesky positive reviews. I have shipped and received many thousands of dollars on this forum alone.. without a hitch. This guy, admits that he misrepresented his blade and sold it anyway.. you believe him? There is NOTHING that shows that I am anything but a stand up member here.
Maybe you missed my first response to him?

Why don't you show his reply when you said $200 and I will send the knife back.

Do that and I won't post again in this thread. Promise

You realize before this whole crapshow kicked off that if you’d just said you were mad, and sorry you sent the lighter, and packed up the knife you’d probably be held in higher regard than whatever mess you’re in now?

You just keep digging deeper.

not sure if you have looked at my post areas, but I don't use BladeForums as a market. I use it to get better as a hobbyist and amateur knife maker. While certain threads have influenced my purchasing habits elsewhere, the only knives I have bought on here are from the knifemaker's section.

your tantrum and offensive outbursts are probably the thing that makes you look bad here.

I think the buyer scammed himself. He did not buy a knife from a dealer that was brand new. But that’s what he wanted. He’s angry.

The seller should’ve listed the knife used. But he thought it was like new, still no excuse.

$100 to each party for this ridiculous mess.

Side note, if Im buying a $300 knife for $200 thats listed as like new, I’m assuming its like a car off lease with 20,000 miles on it “like new”. But that’s just me.

Well in my honest opinion it was like new, I’ve never had anyone I’ve sold to say any other than that. How could I operate here since 2013 without a hitch. Would have thought yrs of track record would have been enough. Vs 6 months.

You need to adjust your opinion.

That’s my point was nearly 300 knife for 200 so I wouldn’t have that it’s bad but what apparently do I know, meanwhile dude is talking about knives in his ass and all kinds of other weird stuff lol.

Not to dredge up a "old" thread from the grave, all 14 hours or so ago, but I think this transaction warrants that members realize that they proceed at their own risk for using anything but PayPal G&S (or similar protected means of money transactions) regardless of what you "think your tax consequences are" or are "they are actually going to be". There would be reduced drama here on the forums if the moderator suggestions in the sales rules are followed without deviation, use a protected service like PayPal G&S and when shipping a knife it is the buyer's and also in this case, a returner's responsibility to provide shipping insurance.

The majority of users here are hobbyist's and the IRS has code for hobbyist's to help get around the $600 limit. Some people are blowing this tax limit way out of proportion and using it as an excuse to avoid paying protected transaction fees and at times allowing some individuals to be deceitful in their transactions. PayPal can see that their fee revenues decreasing for Goods and Services and the amount of F&F transactions increasing between groups of individuals that in turn are taking up the slack in number of transactions. Transaction numbers probably are nearly the same but the type has changed. Unknown to most people, is that the G&S and F&F information (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle and CashApp) is available to the IRS and these changes are being noted. Enough said...

What a mess. After reading this thread in one sitting the main take away I gather is that the buyer is completely unbelievable. Too many unreasonable and impossible claims. He made a conditional refund offer if USPS refunds him, which he knows they never will as there is no evidence of loss or theft. It is the buyers responsibility to get the returned knife back to the seller, which he did not do. This is the same as a seller shipping to a buyer. We say it all the time here. Same thing just the other way around with a return where the buyer chooses the return shipping. If it was shipped properly and lost or stolen, an insurance claim would be the first step in this mess. Unless there was some super-thief like tampering from the USPS, theft is off the table. Either the buyer or seller is responsible. Only one party here is acting unbelievable and unreasonable.

Seller obviously needed to describe the item better. Avoid acronyms. They aren't standardized and reflect no particulars of the actual condition of the knife.

Last, and most important here, never, ever, never refund someone until you have the item back in your possession. The item is not once again yours until it is in your hands. Did I say never ever?

Buyer should send back full refund asap, take this as lesson learned not to f-around, and hope not to be banned.
