SCAMMED out of Microtech on trade by lazy otter - Nick Reynolds, Richmond VA

SeattleDude, I'd suggest adding his name to the thread title and 1st post so it will be right there for everyone to see and to know who not to deal with. Maybe his address too.

Use your new Socom in health!

Also... To the mods... put all of his known aliases in this thread for the same reason. Cheers.

Kudos to all involved and the OUTSTANDING investigating that has gone into this. Also a HUGE Round of "APPLAUSE" and Thank You to all the MODS that where all over this..
We all need to protect our own and our community.....
Just remember...The one BAD Apple...Should never detour anyone from having dealings
with the other 98% of the "STELLAR-HONEST-UPSTANDING FOLKS" here in our family.
We all prove time and time again..We all have each others BACKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

I know where he lives. He's about 10 minutes away from me in a not very nice part of town.
Yup. Very bad part of that city. High crime, D rated schools, three dozen registered sex offenders within 1 mile, etc. Hard to believe anyone dealing in high priced luxuries/hobbies would live in that area.

Ok..Google Maps shows 203 Hull Street Road in Richmond as the Cauthorne Paper Company, so if you sent the Microtech THERE..and he got it..he's picked it up at Work. A phone call to the Company would give you an answer, whether or not he works there, that is. ;)
Urban revitalization. That building is residential apartments now. Has been. Studios, lofts, 0ne and two bedroom apartments. Many such buildings in Richmond now. When my daughter lived in Richmond while attended VCU for their excellent fine arts program she once rented a loft in an old stove factory.

Yes. There is good news in all of this after all. =)

I am also a member of two big Microtech groups on Facebook and I shared this story there at the same time I posted it here.

Well something amazing happened! Anthony L. Marfione posted a comment on my post that he would like to help.
We got in touch and he asked me for my address and said that he wanted to ship me a replacement knife!
He wanted me to focus my energy on my daily life instead of using my energy to after the scammer.

How amazing is that? I absolutely had no words, but Thank you!

Anthony if you ever read this, I have a great respect for you as person. You have a big heart!

I am honored to have few of your knifes and you have a follower for life!

Today I get this pretty box delivered to me by UPS man!

It was shipped Overnight! I open it and inside is long sleeve Microtech t-shirt and BRAND NEW Socom Delta in Red with My Name engraved on it!
Socom Delta happens to be my absolute favorite knife from Microtech Knives.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Wow, I completely wrote MT off as anyone to do business with because of their atrocious customer service but that gesture is one of the most damned decent things I've seen a company do. Ever. Anywhere. At any time.

OP, I'd like to suggest a "good" thread showing what MT did for you. They get plenty of bad press, if they do something good it should warrant its own thread applauding them. They really do deserve it in this case.

Well thats certainly a pleasant surprise.

Thumbs up to Microtech for standing up for the community and fans.

I would still suggest you go after Lazy Otter as he needs to learn that this kind of thing is not acceptable.

Now that he's banned watch for a new screen name, something like lethargic beaver lol dirt bag needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Stolen Microtech Socom Elite SN 01357 03/2012 Tanto in Satin finish - Steel S35VN
thief: Nick Reynolds, Richmond VA
there now it will come up as stolen in a google search

Just hope that anyone that thinks of scamming someone else reads this. ITS NOT WORTH IT. Let's say Nick is looking for a job and the interviewer google-searches his name and this comes up, Or friend and family. Poor decision on his part. We all forgive because forgiveness is just better than being bitter. But the consequence of your action will always come back at you. Think twice.

Very nice gesture by Marfione!

Lazy Otter's thread on the Hinderer forum in September feigning poverty while trying to help a buddy in Afghanistan rang hollow. :thumbdn:

I hope Lazy Otter gets what's coming to him one way or another.

"Nick Reynolds Richmond VA" hit #5 on page 1 of a Google search.

Must be nice to be famous......

Scammers never think they won't get away with it...but I wouldn't argue against keeping them at the top of a Google search :D

I hope the OP follows through with reporting this too.

really nice that microtech did this for the op...shame the otter fellow got away with his scam. he'll be trying again under different guises or sites.....since it worked once that you can bet....unless of course the postal folks get involved and take action and bring punishment.

That would be nice for justice to be served only thing is I've been on various boards for years and never heard of anyone being prosecuted by anybody. I've heard threats of Postal inspectors but never a story of justice being served.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was.....

And if it wasn't the donated one, wouldn't the honorable thing to do would be to send the new Hinderer to the guy that he got to donate to his deployed buddy weeks earlier. Honor? Hahaha.

Was the Hinderer imaginary the whole time??

Wow, I haven't read this thread in a while, and I'm happy I caught up! What a great gesture on Microtech's part! Bravo! I've never really considered their knives, but I certainly am now.
