SCAMMED out of Microtech on trade by lazy otter - Nick Reynolds, Richmond VA

That's true, if it were a saved PDF nothing would change. My thought was that a second reprint directly from their site might change the date in that left hand corner. I'd have to try it myself to verify though.

It's the label that ships/sends the package - not the color of the package. As long as you pay the Priority Mail rate and print off the label and put it on the package, the package could be anything within size limitations, etc..

I have a roll of USPS tape with Priority Mail and the USPS Logo on the tape and just put a piece of that on a package I send out and pay whatever the rate is.

Not if it goes in a flat rate box. You pay that flat rate regardless of weight or where it is going. Otherwise I believe priority mail needs to be weighed. Anything can be priority mail as you say but not if it is in their flat rate box, that is the point of them.

Looks to me like neither box should have been accepted. The first one is a medium flat rate box which is about $12 but it has a flat rate envelope shipping label on it with a difference of ~$7. The second box is the same or reprinted shipping label for a flat rate envelope and it looks like he tried to cross out "envelope". This is in a regular box. It should have been weighed to go Priority.

This is a mess.

If the box was changed in transit, why isn't LO trying to find a resolution to this? He should be down at the PO filing claims of theft. When I ran the tracking the package also seemed to be insured. Why no claim? But putting all that aside, if the OP didn't get his knife traded for he is do the return of his knife. LO didn't complete his end of the transaction IMO.
and of course there is the girlfriend factor-either as an excuse or other suspect if it went through her before the PO.
I certainly believe the OP received this package with the crap knives in it, and this would be the 1st case I have run across where PO theft put like items back in the box.

This is really sad. I have no doubts based off everything presented that lazy otter scammed him. Such a shame. OP has been truthful and presented stuff at members request. Otter just comes in and says don't you dare call me a veteran. I hope he gets thrown in jail.

We will never really know what happened but I find it hard to believe the PO would change the box themselves. LO is a proven liar and thief based on other situations we have seen him get into here. He is also not that smart. Looks like he put the wrong postage on a flat rate medium box to save a few bucks. The PO would not take it. This would be the point where he told the OP that the label was damaged or whatever. He went back home and used the same label, crossed out "envelope", and used his own box. How that worked I don't know.

The reason LO is not trying to find a resolution to this is because there is none other than him returning the OP's knife.

The problem is this is far from the first problem with this guy. He was still trading up until the end of September.

I understand why he is not being banned right now. This current situation needs to be figured out and then hammer away. But what about the last two times? And for the time being perhaps a banner could be made to go at the top of his posts warning people not to deal with him and linking to all his GB&U shadiness.

He is still active here. Over in the Busse group he started a thread trying to get people together for a camping trip. This trip is going to happen at the end of November, Do you think they would like to go camping with this guy if they knew all the trouble he is causing and what a scammer he is?

I have no control over who gets banned or who gets a banner included in their posts. I'm not a Mod. I was merely thanking the OP for bringing it to our attention. For the record, I agree that something needs to be done about this POS. In the mean time, at least the OP exposed him for what he is. . .

wait, if lazy claims that you received a different box than he sent, isn't that his responsibility as the sender per paypal rules?

Oh I know and agree. My point was he has already been exposed before, multiple times.

Like was said, trade, no paypal. The picture originally sent by Lazy shows the wrong postage on a medium flat rate box, off by ~$7. USPS would have never let that fly. The box had to be changed before he sent it. His excuses allow for this.

Doesn't really matter though. This guys if a proven scammer multiple times over. The OP gets the benefit of the doubt. The scammer needs to return the knife.

Sorry to the OP. That really sucks.

Unfortunately I have had this happen at my place of work also. Different product, but scam is the same. I ship out a machine, buyer initiates a return with literally garbage inside the original box....with the custom foam padding included. Paypal awarded funds to the buyer because "something" was returned. It didn't matter to them that I just got robbed, that we are an established business (35 years) with tons of Paypal transactions, or that the buyer was a new account with only a few transactions. They said the only way to get my money back would be to file a police report, follow it through in a court system (small claims works), then return to them with a judgement in hand. Really? I would have had to spend $500-$1000 or more to get my $500 back. It could have been as simple as the shipping documentation showing the weight going out of the original product, and the differential weight of the returned box. Paypal wouldn't even consider that info.

So with a pure exchange without even a middle man payment source, there is no way to return funds from a crook. Thieves know the legal system would cost more than the result. And unfortunately a crook has no conscience, it's just a way of life. But most have mastered their inner con-science.

Good luck.

I haven't read the entire thread, but Seattledude, seriously you should have known better. Lazyotter has recent negative feedback and like you said, deal was too good to be true.

Sucks to be in this situation and hopefully you can get resolution. But if he did scam you, you made it easy for him. Lesson learned hopefully.

Why is everyone doing the "explaining" for the Otter guy?!

If this really went down any other way than what most of us believe, he wouldn't even be in the GBU with 6 pages (and counting) dedicated to this issue.

He would have dealt with this already....

His choices are/where simple:

If there is some "label swapping" fraud going on here, you return the knife you got in the trade, and you deal with that issue.
If there is anything else that we can all throw out here as a possble issue, you return the knife, appologize, and figure out what went wrong on your end.

In both cases, you:

A: Return a knife you don't rightfully own.
B: Communicate with your trade partner.
C: Fix whatever the "issue" is yourself.

LO has done none of these things with the OP or the forum, and for that simple reason, and based on his past dealings, he needs to take a walk down the plank....

I think we can all agree that the actions of Lazy Otter are reprehensible. This includes his lack of defense, other that to claim that he never said he was a vet. Most people would be up in arms about being called a liar and try to present evidence to the contrary. Nothing more can be said. What i am interested in is hearing what good news SeattleDude has. It would be nice for some good karma to come his way.

Yes. There is good news in all of this after all. =)

I am also a member of two big Microtech groups on Facebook and I shared this story there at the same time I posted it here.

Well something amazing happened! Anthony L. Marfione posted a comment on my post that he would like to help.
We got in touch and he asked me for my address and said that he wanted to ship me a replacement knife!
He wanted me to focus my energy on my daily life instead of using my energy to after the scammer.

How amazing is that? I absolutely had no words, but Thank you!

Anthony if you ever read this, I have a great respect for you as person. You have a big heart!

I am honored to have few of your knifes and you have a follower for life!

Today I get this pretty box delivered to me by UPS man!

It was shipped Overnight! I open it and inside is long sleeve Microtech t-shirt and BRAND NEW Socom Delta in Red with My Name engraved on it!
Socom Delta happens to be my absolute favorite knife from Microtech Knives.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Lazy Otter once called me about buying knife I had for sale. The "only" stumbling block was his lack of money, which from reading this thread, always seems to be the case. He tried to finagle some convoluted BS trade, for which my reply was "F*%K NO!". I had to immediately take a hot shower after talking to someone of his ilk. I put him on my ignore list.

SeattleDude, I feel bad you got scammed by him. I hope it doesn't hurt you too bad in the wallet, although I know money isn't the only issue. Frankly, you shouldn't have high expectations for this "theft" to be resolved in your favor.

I hope he gets banned from Blade Forums & that no other members will be scammed by him.

I have to edit my post since I just saw your update. Very nice gesture Anthony, very nice indeed.

THAT .. Is priceless . He is right about wasting time on this fool .. Well at least about getting you Microtech back . I do feel there should be some sort of passing shot before you lay this to rest. Couple of good things actually came out of this. Lazzy POS Otter will never be back . He will get the boot. You got taken care of by Tony . Got a sweet knife and shirt and your name on the knife so you wont be able to trade this one.

I really just don't get why people do such things for little shiny pieces of metal .. Obviously Lazy Otter is mentally ill . The way he operates and lack of sophistication shows his lack of education , He ruined his name on all the knife groups and forums and his girlfriend will find out what a troll she has for a boyfriend . So in the end Lazy Otter looses .. Good bye Otter .
