Sebenza VS Buck 110

Call me nuts, but the Sebenza goes past the point of diminishing returns when it comes to edged pocket tools.

A CPM-154 Buck 110 goes for less than a third of the price of a small Sebenza and a fourth the price of a large one. The statistics look even more tilted towards the Buck when you factor in C.Reeve upgrades like micarta and unique graphics.

Buck 110 for me, even in 420HC

There is really no comparison. My large Sebenza 21 clipped in my right front pocket is just so comfortable. I only like a sheath for fixed blades which I don't edc but use for the woods mainly. I couldn't imagine having having a 110 in my pocket for long.

The only thing about the Seb is that it gets suggested all the time to people who are in fact newbs, so they get industry-leading fit and finish and can't even resharpen the knife when it dulls. It's one of the best-made production folding knives, and in the hands of a true newb it won't even work for the intended job after a few weeks

Well said

Thanks

Thanks Spookstrickland. Just felt like stepping on toes, did you? Lol.

It fun listening to people scramble to justify buying the "latest, greatest, most popular" whatever. You can find the same thing on watch forums, and camera forums, and gun forums, etc.
People is people. They always will be.

I'll bet right now you're setting back, thinking about the next sacred cow to splash cold water on, aren't you? More power to you. Makes for fun reading.

Thanks, glad to hear your thoughts on such things.

It sure is funny how people think because it cost money it's good. From the vids I've seen of the Sebenza I could just tell that Sebenza was like one of them High Priced Italian Sports cars that sure could haul ass but also required a huge maintenance schedule to keep it performing. Where as the American Made Muscle cars could go for years and take all kinds of abuse and keep right on ticking at a fraction of the cost.

It's the same with guitars. When I was young a buddy of mine had a Peavey t-25 that sounded awesome and played great, I wanted one so bad but instead got bit by the Fender bug and had to have a stratocaster like Jimi Hendrix that cost about 5 times what the peavey did. It did sound great but you know what years and years latter I got to play that Peavey again and it still is a nice sounding guitar at a fraction of the price of a strat. That is the kind of value I speak of.

Wow. Not sure how you can "just tell" the Sebenza is high maintenance from a Vid, or even come up with that kind of comparison when you've never owned one.

We're not serriously talking about this are we????? A knife I picked up at Walmart to a Chris Reeves sure logistically you make a good point, but REALLY?????
its like compareing a farrari vs. a dodge

I hear it all the time from the owners talking about how you should take it apart and clean it all the time. Crazy!

Wow, the last time the Sebenza was seen as the latest and greatest, the interweb was just a twinkle in Al Gore's eyes...
