Security in the timber

Here in Spain there is no chance you can carry a gun, rifle or shotgun for SD. Heck! You can't even carry an edged weapon for anything! When I go hiking, climbing, into de woods or whatever outdoors... I alwasy carry some short of knife, but that's about it.

I always feel better when I have this pair with me.... Neither one has ever failed me (and I don't think they ever will).

What an awesome combo. That Randall is something else. I love 1911's. They just feel right in the hand. Marty Simon enabled me to buy the Bond derringer. After I saw his, I just had to have one.
My favorite hunting arms are Thompson center Encores and Contenders. I varmint hunted with a 223 Contender pistol for alot of years. 243 Encore pistol smacked many a groundhog to.

1) I have never seen a METRIC 1911 before! 11.25mm ACP LOL!!! (Yes, I see that it doesn't actually say ACP on it!)

2) Is the fore end on that Marlin one that you slimmed down, or is it an aftermarket, or did it come like that, or what? I like Marlins despite their chunky feel but that one is unusually slim!

That's just the metric designation for .45 ACP. These are liscenced copies of the Colt 1911A1, the parts are interchangable. Not bad for $265 as a surprise gift from my wife. Mac

Outside of hunting big game... whether with a camera or a weapon... I don't feel the need for a firearm in the bush. I guess the two legged predators in my neck of the woods are few and far between. Its a shame that it has come to that in so many places.

My prefs in order of importance:
Attitued and awareness
M4 clone
Remington 870 police
Kimber .45 first gen
Glock 17
any one of the outdoors fixed blades I always carry when out
hiking staff
OC foam

Generally I have my knife, Glock 17 and staff with me any time I am out- so those are the ones most likely to be employed should the need arise. Attitude and awareness are a given. :)

I never carry a firearm in the woods. A good knife and a good stick are all I usually carry. The stick is my primary defense. As far as two-legged goes, the only thing the stick won't defend me against is an attacker with a gun. But in that case, I'm not so sure my own gun would make it a sure bet I'd be safe.

Check out the extra size stick from Brazos. It's a little heavy, but boy if I get ahold of someone with that hitchhiker's tip it's gonna know it:

The same here in France. I'm not sure that i'm allowed to carry a sling.

When I am out and about walkin or in the woods I like my Ruger .357 mag. I think 5 rounds is plenty!

I guess I'm the only idiot that doesn't carry a gun in the woods.

I've got my dog and always have a FB and Folder of some sort. My dog is a great judge of character and I am always aware of my surroundings. Call it corny, but I believe my mind is one of the best weapons I have. And I'm still alive.... :)

You're not alone. Up here in Kanada, you're not allowed to carry firearms for defense purposes.

I tried carrying a dog, but after a few miles they get pretty heavy. :(
