Seems to be gettin' a little slow in here

Sounds great!

Seems like about a year ago when I first found this place, there was a contest based on surviving a few nights with nothing more than a knife and what you could fit in an altoids tin, and while there were only a few people who actually got out and did it, I learned from reading their entries.

I think for my own good / self-improvement I need to do an entry in this contest, knowing my skills are such that there is precious little chance of me winning anything. I'll be looking for the post with that liability waiver form!

its a great time to upgrade.
theres a sweet incentive-a free esee arrowhead
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=816&a=164
once again the esee gang come thru for bf and its members

I have looked into in, that arrowhead will cost me more to ship it to Canada then if I just bought it of a website. Under no circumstances can I justify something like that considering I don't really want it.

Also too.. ESEE big disappointment your setting this up in a way where its gold or higher. I recall you setting up a facebook group to facilitate non gold members in entering contests after one contest went through with like 2 entries. I actually created a facebook profile for just that reason.

For a company with great customer service, I feel ripped off. :thumbdn: Hopefully I'm jumping the gun with this post, and you plan to work something else in, but I read your new sticky too. I shouldn't have to pay to enter a giveaway. :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

That's your choice. This contest runs on BFs only since BFs is the biggest single piece of media that supports our company and has the broadest reach of people with all levels of skills and a common interest. All of our contests on here are Gold or higher. For the small price of admission to help out a great place like Bladeforums, you may just win a lot of good stuff from us. Sorry you are disappointed.

Actually we don't even try to please everyone anymore, Tony. We take care of our customers but whatever we choose to give away, and how we choose to do it, is strictly up to us and the mods here. Now, that might sound "elitist" but Spark and Bladeforums has been a driving force behind our company, so if we can give back a little while also making it possible for some folks to win big prizes then that's what it's all about. Nothing of any value is free in life. Nothing.

We're not forcing anyone to participate or upgrade. And if they don't they are always welcome here as part of this discussion community, and always will be. It seems like every time we run a contest it's almost like someone thinks we have control over their checkbook and forcing them to write a check for something they don't want to. Again, we're not forcing anyone to do anything. But if they want to enter the contest then we go by a set of rules that we have agreed on.

I became a gold member shortly after joining because I felt it was the right thing to do. I could tell almost immediately this forum contained a boat load of valuable info and I know just how expensive it is to maintain a forum like this. Then after obtaining my gold membership I realized I could enter cool contests like this one. Bonus!

Hell I think it was $25 for a two year gold membership, how can you beat that?

I'm entering this contest simply because it's the kick in the ass I needed to get started building a "primitive" campsite that my kids and I will enjoy. I recently purchased a new house with some acreage and I've been wanting to construct a campsite.

I may not win any prizes from this contest, but I know when it's done to my satisfaction I'll be a winner each and everytime my kids and I use it to spend some quality time together.

Thanks to ESEE, and Bladeforums for the kick in the ass I needed. :D

I promote Esee knives more then enough thanks. Although all my ranting on how great their customer service may have been premature. Paying on top of all this doesn't fit into a students budget.

Don't forget where you came from, not from gold members but from satisfied customers who recommended you to others of which only a small portion are gold members.

Anyway I thank you for listening and I hope you take my feelings into consideration and redirect yourself back onto a path I can support.

So far, eseeratfan, you're in first place because you're the only one who has thrown their hat in the ring. :D

believe it or not you are not the only student here ;) personally i find the 25 dollars more than worth it, and if my budget allows i will go platinum when i need to upgrade.

Hmmm....nothing has changed about the way we conduct day-to-day business. You are just as important to us as any other customer. Bladeforums is not ESEE Knives and has no bearing on our customer service we extend to our customers. It is a sideline piece of media we use same as Facebook and has nothing to do with the end-user who buys our knives. We offer contests for people who support this site simply because it costs a lot to run a site such as this without much (if any) profit.

So, with this line of thinking you would probably get upset to know that we give a way a LOT of knives in other venues that are not part of Bladeforums, but again, there are rules to those as well. Some have to be certified law enforcement. Sometime we simply give a knfie away because we happen to appreciate a phone call or email we got. There's nothing fair on how we give away knives, but how we deal with a customer who has purchased a knife from one of our dealers is fair across the board. How we deal with our dealers is fair. What we give away is a direct loss for us since it generates zero income, so I think we have the right to give away something any way we see fit. The same as giving money to any charity we choose to do so. Rest assured, if you ever have a problem with one of our knives, whether you bought it or it was given to you, we will back that up 100 percent. Always have, always will.

I'm also about sipping good Tequila, associating with crazy women, and listening to good rock and roll,.

:D I'm in college and could easily do that check list, heck I already got #2 and #3 done today, any chance for a side contest?

Well it feels like it has changed, and i'm still half expecting 'bladeforums' to replace ROWEN on future knives.

No, not at all. I get upset when none of your chosen venues are free. Also Im ok with rules, just not ones that make me pay.

With your company you can choose your rules, but with my wallet I get a choice too. I guess we will agree to disagree and let the chips fall as they may.

Maybe the guy that drinks the most Tequila while naked with two crazy women and listening to AC/DC while building his survival camp?

Exactly! That's what free market Capitalism is all about. Now we are on the same footing with our understanding. Thanks.
