September BOTM - 102 in black palm wood/154CM

Man, I am grateful to Buck for continuing to drop these BOTM that I am not interested in whatsoever. I had just purchased another knife, so wouldn't have wanted the outlay.

I take it the [lower] price for the pro is for BCCI members? It was $145 where I looked, which makes the difference between the pro and botm insignificant.

I like the 102 and I find the palm wood interesting. I'd like to see it on a knife in real life. I'm passing, but just because I have no use for it. Pretty knife

It is a nice looking knife but I have a 102 pro and the handle is just to small for my liking. So I’ll pass on this one. I’ve never seen palm wood in real life and don’t know much about it. Is palm wood a hard wood ?

Black palm aka bahi wood (Philippines) is a very tough wood. Used in fighting sticks.

With as many that have passed on it, in this thread, I thought there would be more left. I guess the number of people commenting in this thread and sub-forum is not indicative of Buck's consumer base...at least for this issue.

I pass on this issue also. Main reason is the handle size.

Ok I’m in, just placed my order. I love small fixed blades with wood handles, and 154cm is one of my favorite blade steels.

I can see a need for balance. If it shows a high number, folks may think there’s no rush. They can always buy later, but then don’t. I do think they should show a number below a threshold (50 or 100?) showing they are almost gone. That number would encourage a buy then as you might not get another chance.
