Sharpest new knife you ever purchased?

Out of the box, my Kershaw JYDSG2. Whoever ground it at the factory did an insane job with the hollow grind and took that SG2 steel down to a ridiculously thin edge. It's almost as thin as a razor blade at the bevel's shoulders.

out of the box a BK-9
lol. I know.
Got Spydies, CRKT, Kershaws, Benchmades, Bayonets, Kukris and some other things.
The BK9 (one of my bigger knives was the only one which ever cut my skin while doing an arm hair shaving test.

The sharpest out of the box knife that I own would have to be my Esee Izula.

My Caly 3 CF was the only production knife I've ever purchased where the factory edge was sharper out of the box than I could ever reproduce or exceed.

HWF, you're right, that is a great knife. I got one a couple of weeks ago, put another clip on the other side so I can switch pockets at will when needed; fills the hand up too. Carry it every day, and nothing like the Emerson wave.

If you like it, you'll like the Civilian, too. It's that concept, taken to the extreme, in G10.

But the shorter tip of the Matriarch2 will allow you to use it far more, as in often. And I was surprised how well fully serrated blades cut in general. Pretty amazing. My Native5 serrated is a good cutter, too.

Did you get it today? If so, isn't it sweet?

Check out dericdesmond's sheath for it, he does a great job and it's only $20.00. You move the clip to the other side, the Civilian snaps right in and it makes for a great pairing.

Like a complete "system," it elevates it in a way. Doesn't mar the G10, either. I've put mine in and pulled it out at will and you cannot even tell it, it still looks brand new. Done it probably 100 times by now. :)

I like my waved Matriarch2, like yours. At that price point I'm gonna use the heck out of it and not worry, and keep the Civilian pristine.

My wife opened something a few days ago with my Sebenza. You're right that look is priceless.

A friend of mine saw a woman helping Chris (Reeve) at his booth once FAIL while trying to remove one of his fixed blades from it's sheath.

All 4 fingers, straight to the bone. Blood was present, lots and lots of blood.

.........yea, He puts an edge on stuff.

My D.Farmer Nessmuk.

spyderco Delica with super blue steel has been the sharpest to me. but all my spyderco knives have been good, my only Kershaw was pretty great too (basic, stainless steel leek).

My Spyderco Navaja came screaming sharp. That combined with a very thin blade made for the loss of a fingertip, didn't even feel it. (Careless paper slicing)ImageUploadedByTapatalk1388723741.569121.jpg

I dont know about sharp but this thing is just dangerous. Cold Steel serrations are just slicers!

The thin ZDP-189 blade on my William Henry Atlas B12 looks and performs like a surgical instrument!

My William Henry b12 Damascus is the sharpest out of the box production knife I have opened. From the custom side, Jerry Halfrich knives come crazy sharp and my Dozier folders have all come with an insane edge on them.
