Show Your Patina, Forced, Earned, or Accidental

Earned but very young.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Very nice!

I love the way that light reflects off of a blade with patina. Reminds me of a summer storm or how the sky changes in different light. Here are a few from my Case JR sodbuster and Case Med. texas jack both in CV. Also a background shot of the GEC Pony Jack (both blades open to keep it sitting up straight!). All earned patina.

Hey it's no the end of the week yet, why has the posting stop?

Anyways, here is an old Robeson ShurEdge that I found in my grandpa's basement among with some other old kitchen knives. I'm fairly convinced that this knife was not used as just a kitchen knife because of the condition it was in. I'm thinking it was used as a either a hunting knife, general utility knife, or maybe a camp kitchen knife. The blade on it is actually quite sturdy for it's thickness, much more so than a Old Hickory boning knife. I have no idea what the date is on the knife. The company closed it's doors in 1977 I think so I know it is at least that old.

These are all earned the old fashioned way.

This is going to be a tough go figuring out who gets the weekly title of the week for best patina...there will be three winners, and I'll do my very level best to be as objective as possible, and giving my rationale for the choices. Every knife pictured so far is a winner in my book.

It will be Sunday in a few hours, and seeing as it will be Sunday, I will be objective and honest. I have the first winner in the EARNED category, and the FORCED and ACCIDENTAL are going to be a chore to decide. It would be nice if someone could post a pic of a knife they found in their local dump, or in a swamp in Alligator Alley, then the ACCIDENTAL category will be a no brainer. Keep posting.....:D

Forced with hot cider vinegar.

Always loved this shot, reminded me of how my blued 01 Nealy Aikuchi looked in the early 90s when I first got it. Great job :thumbup:

Here's an older Kinfolks. Not sure of its age, but it is a nice old knife.

Nice shot, I love how the members have pushed themselves to take better pics, the composition, lighting, exposures, everything is so much better the pics are a lot more enjoyable to view.

Is it because y'all got smarter or smart phones? ;) keep up the great pics... :thumbup:

I just realized I accidental left my traditional hatchet in the tool box of my old jeep farm truck all winter. I will post a picture tomorrow.

- waynorth gets the nod for the most neglected knife, what with pitted bolsters and all.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Gosh Al, I accept this honor on behalf of this old, time, & battle worn Imperial, the sturdy cutlers that turned it out, and the selfless service member who used it during WW-II. I'm grateful for the honor and grateful to be the current custodian of the knife. Congratulations to the other selectee's! OH

You can re-post your fotos if you didn't make today's "director's" cut, for next Sunday's membership in the Order of the Patina Patina.

Quite a shame I forgot but it really shows how the buffing compounds from my leather belt really protect. Even after the hatchet was used relentlessly.
