Sleepybadgers modded bk-5

Some of you here may know sleepybadger. Well long story short, some months ago Sleepy b bought a custom cleaver from me. After that a small patch knife, and over that span we've kept in touch and seemed to have become pretty good friends. One day after seeing Murphs beckanet sleepy asked me if I would mod a bk 5 for him. Now, making knives from scratch I really don't like to do to many mods. But, it is a Becker, and sleepys a pretty cool dude so I said what the hell!

and then tried my first attempt at a snakeskin inlayed sheath. Turned out quite nice I think. Oh yeah. The handle is walnut burl. Hope you enjoy. Gonna hit it on the buffer once more and piddle here and there but for the most part this babies done!

damn.

Awesome job, sir. My first thought wasn't pirate knife, but Bill Moran inspired knife. I mean that as the highest compliment. The guard and handle shape remind me of his work. Beautiful sheath, too. If that's your first snakeskin inlaid sheath, then I can only imagine how amazing the 100th will be. What did you make the guard and pommel out of? Beautiful work, and thanks for the photos.

The pommel, pins and the fingergaurd are all made of mild steel. Thanks for your kind words! It means a lot!

Todd your killing me with this stuff man. Don't you know I'm Broke at the moment ?
Make Knives this nice when I have money to throw at you ..lol.
I still need to buy a M-18 from you, and you add this thing to my list ? Not cool man... Not cool ....lol

Better sell some shit lil buddy! These aren't the only tricks under my sleave! Hahaha!

That is awesome. But that's too much to just be a "modded" Bk5. So what do we call it?
A "semi-custom BK5"?
Whatever you call it, that is an incredible job. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Having seen a glimpse of this project, I thought I knew pretty much what this looked. It looks waaaaay better than I imagined. And I have a pretty vivid imagination. And, that dead rattler would be proud to know he was part of such a beautiful sheath. Beginner sheath maker my ass. This is one beautiful project.
All the best

I've been making knives for well over 15 years. However, It is true that this is my first effort at making a snakeskin sheath. Truth is I've only been making my own sheaths for bearly a year. Like the saying says about a whole village raising a child, there has been many sheath makers that I admire that have helped me with advice. Mr. Balding eagle is in fact one of them. Thank you for the help BE!

That is insane, bro! How did you get that thing that shiny??? You obviously have some time in that piece. Very nice.
