SNG rant

You need to Call CS @ 1-760-471-8275 and let them know about what's going on, they will ask you to send the knife in and they will take care of it.

I have 3 SmF's and all 3 of them are smooth as glass with excellent fit and finish. ;)

They don't answer and they don't return phone messages. I tried that number just in case it's a number I haven't tried yet and they didn't answer again.

What a complete letdown, just recieved my Strider SNG a week ago from GP Knives and already blade play after a few cycles...nice. QC took a few weeks off?

This is unfortunate. Honestly I'm at a loss to understand the appeal of Strider knives given their cost, as these kinds of complaints seem to be all too common when you consider the prices they charge.

It's simple. They look cool and they are over-built. We dig 'em.

As far as smoothness, customer service, an some other areas of concern...

...AS LONG AS PEOPLE KEEP SNATCHING THEM UP AT $500 A POP.....Well...

....DING DING!!! You're gonna keep getting what you're getting.

Get a top-notch Spyderco AND a ZT for the same price.

**That said -
I love the looks and would buy one if they weren't so pricey.

But this is clearly a case of the Emperor with no clothes. They are only worth $500 because peoples wallets keep saying they are. (Think Harley-Davidson)

Perhaps, Strider should send the knives out in kit form and buyers can put it together themselves. They might get a knife that works that way.

After getting my Sebenza I wanted something cooler and tactical looking and bought a SNG and PT CC and both were a disappointment. Over priced, over hyped with wandering QC.

Bought them on looks and they never cut better than any other knife I own. They were easy to sell because of kick ass cult status.

I don't understand, I've seen Spydercos and Benchmades with great F&F and no QC issues whatsoever, and a quarter of the price

Don't believe everything you read in this thread, a lot of them have never seen a Strider in person or owned one. ;)

That's why I always say.... Pictures or it didn't happen. ;)

This thread has gone down the sewer now that all the trolls have found it.

Sorry dude, but get yourself a Blackberry and respond to Customers! I'm an attorney, and if I blow people off like this I get sued for malpractice. It's just bad business in this day and age. *shrugs*

So sue em!!!:D

I stopped buying Striders a while ago. I expect fit and finish to pretty near perfect out the box at $400-$500 and it was just not happening with the Strider line of folders.

But if I was going to Iraq, Afghanistan or Haiti I would certainly want one as part of my gear (after it went back to Strider for adjustments a few times)

For awhile, I thought I was the only one to get lemons from strider, now it seems they made peck baskets of lemons. Out of my 2, the 2 new ones were bad. The one good one was one someone else bought and took the chance on. I think everyone from now on should only buy a strider if you try it out first. Its obvious that they dont have very good QC, so that way you see and handle it before you plop down your hard earned dollars. If everyone does that, they will easily only sell less than half of the knives they sell, maybe then they will get off their butt and start putting out better quality.

I just spoke to someone at Strider. She said send the knife in and include $15for return shipping. So I'm out another 30 or so bucks on a new $500 knife.

Wow. If I spent that much on a new knife and had the troubles you're having I'd expect the manufacturer to pick up the return shipping tab, especially if the knife was recently acquired. Actually, I'd return it and get my money back. A knife of such high repute and cost should be flawless out the company door. Good luck and let us know what happens.

It's a shame to have to spend the money for shipping, wait the time for them to adjust it (which is unpredictable, from one week to many), and pay again for return shipping. If you were anywhere within a 25 mi. radius of NYC, I'd fix it for you for free.

Personally, I wouldn't own a folding knife of any brand, if I couldn't service it myself for almost anything it needed. Seems to me, if you had confidence in your own skills, it might be more sensible to buy the spanner tool and adjust it yourself. It might come in handy in the future, and despite all the dire warnings... it really is a simple knife. Should you elect to send it in, Strider will make it right.

He *did* blame me. lol. I "should have done a little research before buying a $500 knife." lol. What a joke. That absolutely reeks of "fanboy."
There should be no excuse for not researching products before buying, especially higher priced products. Sounds like you just bought an SNG because you heard all the hype about them. Strider's aren't for everyone, it's not a fanboy remark it's the truth. It takes a while to break in a Strider, you obviously haven't broken yours in. Do you have a callous on your thumb? If not you've got a long time to go yet. Again, doing some research would've helped you make a better choice as to getting an SNG or not. You would've found that they take weeks/months to fully break in and aren't the greatest on FF, but due to hype everyone thinks they should be just like the Sebenza and are worth the $400-$500 price. They're overpriced, overbuilt, thick, robust folders and you decided to pay for one. Your rant sounds more like buyers remorse than anything, just resell it if you aren't happy.

The only good thing about Striders is that they resell easy. Break in myth is part of cult status....just masks poor F&F and over hyped "bull" pivot system.
