Snow, Snow, and more SNOW!!! Yuck!

Here comes another round of arctic bi**hing about the polar vortex

In a wind warning, by Tuesday they're predicting the wind chill to be -30 or more with a high of........well not high


Hibernation doesn't sound bad. Let the beard grow out, sleep, no work, stay warm, and don't have to use the bathroom cause I'll be plugged up with twigs, leaves, and a pine cone.

Starting to build a plan....
 
It has been so cold and the snow has been non stop! I am seriously ready to be on the water with the sun on my face and a beer in my hand. This snow stuff is for the birds :D
 
Been extremely cold here in western NY, not a ton of snow though!! Suppose to have wind chill factors reaching -25!!! Should be fun!!

Spent the day cutting firewood in the wonderful weather!
 
Yesterday I went out into the woods with my dad to help him stock up on their supply of winter heat. It was windy on the way there, the snow was blowing so much that you could barely see the road. It almost looked like we were driving on a cloud, it was pretty cool to see.

Once we got back in the woods there wasn't even a breeze with all the trees to block the wind. It wasn't so bad. Working in Carhartt bibs and jacket, I got warn enough to take off the jacket and work in shirt sleeves. It was a nice breath of fresh air.

Tonight, on the other hand, is supposed to get down to -14° without wind chill. :eek: Holy smokes!! Bundle up everyone, it's going to be a cold one!
 
-15 without wind chill this morning after a -20 degree night. Freaking cold. Although it wasn't so bad in town because there wasn't a lot of air movement but we're supposed to get up to 40mph gusts today once it gets going.. Hate this crap but it got me to put together a cold weather BOB, all I'm missing is kitty litter.. And a kerosene space heater.. It's warmer in Alaska right now than here in Illinois.
 
I've gone through more cold weather ski wax in the past two months than I have used in close to 10 years. My, but winter is big and wide this year.
 
Ok this polar vortex thing has to go !! I don't mind the cold so much when it's cold and stays cold. But yesterday the sun was out here, I washed and waxed ! my trucks, with only a sweatshirt on. Was able to use the garden hose and everything. Today high of 19 without windchill, these temperature swings are horrible. Although my trucks are nice and clean :D Stay warm everybody, I see some of you have it worse than me, be safe.
 
Temperature in Wauseon right now, well there isnt one. 0° the temperature is 0° and that is actually about 15° warmer than it was this morning when I woke up. 0° actually feels like a heat wave.

We are finally getting some snow. About 2 in right now but seems like it should be 6 in with as much as it has snowed.
 
I'm not going to complain about the snow one bit. Like I heard this weekend, "The grass will be greener than it has been in years, and if I hear someone complain about the heat I'll just refer them back to these temps"

I heat primarily with wood, and had propane for backup heat. I switched to oil 14 years ago, its more flexible and can get my oil from different sources and can top up my tank at any time. With propane one is at the mercy of the fuel supplier and there is no easy way to top up the tank myself and must rely on delivery.
 
We are getting it before you guys :)

I am feeling you on that one! I just ordered 100 gallons which is all they would allow me to have at $4.55 per gallon. I just filled it 3 months ago...bring back Summer!!!!!

The only complaint that I have about the snow is that it has turned that ugly January in Ohio color. What happened to the fluffy white stuff that was so pretty?
