Sodbusters, whos got em'?

Definitely... I have been drooling over your "trapbuster." Very nice.

That one is quickly becoming a favorite, thanks to the CV blades I have two razor blades in my pocket, and the pocket worn look of the bone is just so fitting to the shadow style and the general overall look of the knife. The file work is just icing on the cake. I really think I am going to have to have one done full size.

When you consider the wait required for most full blown customs, the two month wait for one of muskratman's knives seems almost trivial.

Just picked up a case cv jr tonight from bass pro shop. It's my first soddie(yup real basic stuff I know). It is my new NYC EDC. Because my normal edc's will land me in rikers for the night and cost me a fortune in lawyers fees...so the sodbuster. I like it, it looks like it is going to work out perfect. I tried it out in my DM Bullard trapper sheath and it fits perfect. Because it was so cost effective I still have some scratch left over for another much needed knife. Really like that Schatt and Morgan swayback clasp, case small texas jack and the amber bone swayback in cv. Anybody got any other suggestions, let's hear'em

Here's one I finished recently for a customer in Chad Nichols raindrop damascus and black G10. Stainless liners, pins and lanyard tube,. Closed it's 3 3/4", open it's 3 1/2".

Took some time to get the edge reprofiled but it was worth the effort. Not quite hair popping but close. I really like her. My first but not last Queen.

That trapbuster buckles my knees every time I see it.

Jr. on top.
1980's Eye brand that my step-dad gave me. It was gifted to me after I found his knife box down in the basement and cleaned them all up and oiled. I wish the Eye's had date marks on them. Built like a tank.

On a Dutch knife forum we have been having a discusion on traditional Herder sodbusters. I want to see what they are like to handle and use for my self. So I picked one up this week. A Friedrich Herder. So far I am no crazy about the thick handle, but I do like the smooth action, lack of blade play and the fact that the carbon steel takes a great edge!

Two interesting articles about the German Herder sodbusters as used by the paniolo, the Hawaiian Cowboy can be found here and here .

This is mine:

I was inspired by the guy who reprofiled his soddie and did so with my own. While at it i changed the scales to maroon linen micarta and fileworked the thing. It's fresh out of the shop,so look past the buffing compound. [/IMG]

Never had one before, so I got in at the shallow end of the pool. Bought this RR locking soddie in synthetic tortoise shell, 4-5/8 inch closed.

Great minds must think alike. I just got a canoe and a sodbuster to see how I liked the pattern and went extra inexpensive. Got the same RR soddie. Haven't played with it enough yet but will remember to keep my fingers and thumbs away from the edge.

Here are my soddies, I want to add some more. #1 on the list is a Queen Country Cousin. Then maybe a small case in cv rehandled in some elk antler that I have.

Thanks for looking.

Nice. I love the soddie design.
Black Bear Knives is coming out with a modern Sodbuster. Can't wait.

I really enjoy the simplicity of a Sodbuster Jr. I carried one in my watch pocket for a good while, and it made an excellent backup to my stockman.

We had to replace the plastic on a green house at work, not a fun job, but lots of cutting chores. When I had to do a lot of cutting I just reached for the closest knife, which happened to be my sodbuster. It went from hand to hand doing all the cutting chores needed, we had a group of 7 and I think 6 cut something with the knife. It actually cut everything for the green house. I was a proud sodbuster papa. :)

Well a few months ago I made the mistake of cutting something with it in front of my grandfather. He has a love for a single blade folder so he asked to see it, now he had to have one, so I gave him the sodbuster and have been without one for a while now. :thumbdn:

I'm have memories with that little knife, so I guess I'm waiting for him to want to trade me for something else, we'll see. :D

I guess I should drop a picture of the TLAR sodbuster (by Keith Johnson) in here. Easily my best knife.

It looks big in this picture, but it is the small sodbuster size. It's a great knife.
