Somebody screwed up big time... 3/31/16 UPDATE

Hi Mike,

My name is Jacob and I'm the product manager at Blade HQ. I believe we have been emailing but had not heard from you since my last email. We apologize for the mistake. The knives appear to be labeled the same as our CF inlaid exclusive, and we mistakenly received and sold the solid CF handled one. We will be sure to contact you as soon as we get more of the CF inlaid model. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

-Jacob

Hi Jacob. Yes it is me that was emailing with you. Sorry I didn't see your last email. We just got back home, and I hadn't checked it yet.
I did just reply to it a few minutes ago.

I can see where there could be confusion if both knives have the same labeling, and I can see why they might not get checked. I'm guessing that CRK might be changing that soon :D

I just got back from the post office, and I got the knife mailed out, so it's on its way back to you. That would be great if you could notify me when you do get
the correct knives in stock. I would greatly appreciate it, as I still really want one. Thanks for taking the time to post in my thread too.

Aweeeeeeeeee!!! ❤️❤️❤️

:D

I didn't have a problem complaining about how this transaction unfolded, and how the person I talked to on the phone this morning, just
didn't seem interested at all in what happened, so in all fairness, I'm posting this...

I have still been emailing with Jacob, and he told me that they are still talking with CRK and are trying to get this mess sorted out.
He did say he would notify me when the right knives come in, and he is trying to get an ETA for me as well. While it doesn't fix the mess up, he genuinely seems like he is doing everything he can right now, and is trying to make sure I am taken care of. I appreciate that... It goes a long ways towards making an unhappy customer feel better about things.

Yes Mike, I understand 100%. This knife is going to mean a lot more to you by the time you finally get it. It's gonna be a keeper!!

Who did you talk to this morning thay didn't seem interested ? Just curious.

OP this sucks on your part , I do wonder if anyone has got ahold of KnifeArt and if they have the bladehq exclusives.

I do feel your pain OP spending your funds on a knife you want that most don't just go out and buy for the hell of it , getting your hopes up and then sending it back and now the wait begins.Whoever acted like they could care less in this issue needs to remember customers keep your lights on. You treat someone good and they tell 1 person. Treat them bad they tell 5 and jump on the internet and tell the world lol.

That's true Justin :D

I'm not sure who it was. I called the 888 customer service number. I guess I shouldn't say he didn't care, but he didn't offer to notify me when the knives do come in, and seemed less than enthused about the situation...

You are right about good and bad advertising. In the days before the internet, it was a lot different. Now you can post something and millions of people can read it in a matter of minutes. That's a lot of bad publicity in a hurry.

I know they have been in contact with CRK, but not sure about KA. Perhaps CRK is doing that on their end. I'm not sure.
It really shocked me to find out that two totally different exclusives had the same labeling. I would think they would have labeled the inlay
knives as such. They probably will be now :D

As I stated earlier, I didn't start this thread to badmouth any of the companies involved. They are all very reputable, but like anyone, mistakes can be made.
I mostly started the thread to vent :D, and to let others know that may have ordered the same knife, what was going on.

I never was pissed, although I was getting close this morning when I found out they didn't have any of the smalls in stock, but I've regained composure and am now just disappointed. However, I do feel better about things after communicating with Jason.
In the end, life goes on and all things work out over time...

It is amazing and totally understandable how one seeming minor mistake can compound into way, way more than it should. Maybe a box labeling error lead to a shipping problem which lead to an inventory problem which lead to another shipping problem which resulted in a big customer negative experience . . .

According to Jacob at BHQ, the BHQ CF inlay knives and the KA CF knives have the same label; Carbon Fiber Sebenza, which to me seems really odd when the knives are distinctly different. Knowing this, I can see how a situation like this could happen.

I have no doubt the labels for the inlay knives will be changed soon to eliminate the chance of this happening again.

LOL - I'm picturing the BHQ person coming in on a Monday morning and getting hit with this issue first thing and thinking "wut???". They were probably trying to grasp the situation without having finished their coffee, wondering if this was legit? Could it really have happened? If so, how? And where did I place my coffee...

No kidding... I sent two emails, one to the "questions" email , and one to Jacob. I wanted to make sure someone saw it first thing this morning.
I'm sure everyone woke up real quick when they found out what happened :D

Now I understand what you said about not having good luck with some knives.
Well, do you think if you called CRK, explain what happened(even though by now they know), they would give you a heads up when the knives are going to ship.

I'm not sure if they would or not. I guess I could call and ask, and yeah they definitely know what happened :D

What a bunch of crud! Cant anyone do anything right anymore. Nobody has any work ethic any more?

Whenever I do any business with anyone I have to check and double check to make sure I'm getting what I asked for.

Wow. Hope I never make an honest mistake around you.

So you ask vendors to open the packages of each item you order before shipping it to you?

Really there seems to be only one error that caused all the others . . . when someone at CRK decided the label for the cf inlay should not be different than the cf scale KA version. All other problems cascaded from that one! And this probably wasn't a conscious decision. The probably just didn't look up and see there were two different cf knife labels.

I just received a large CF inlay and the box says 'Large Sebenza 21 w/ Black Carbon Fiber Inlay' so there is a naming difference.

He is a troll, so that kind of response is to be expected....

I know some people do, especially if they have very specific requests, but in reality a company that does a huge volume of sales, doesn't
have the time to open each shipment. Although it would eliminate mistakes, it would be very labor intensive

Yep. I think that about sums it up. Had this mistake not happened, they probably could have continued to use the same labels for years, and never
had an issue.

Yup. When I buy a knife with a wood or Mammoth ivory inlay, I want to see a picture of the actual knife I am buying.

You are correct... Not sure who to blame and I guess it doesn't matter after the fact. However, the two different knives the ARE labeled differently on the box. One says "Black Carbon Fiber" the other says " Black Carbon Fiber Inlay".

A simple search on the sales forum of the two knives, provided there are pictures of the boxes, would also confirm this...

Well, this is odd... I wonder if perhaps a CRK employee just put the wrong label on the box that BHQ received ?
