SPYDERCO SALT THREAD...fishing, ocean, stories, pics and all things "salt"

They are supposedly in the process of updating all the salt handles to the newer shapes with bi-directional texturing. That is good news for the Salt 1, but I kind of wish they'd leave the Pacific Salt alone. I much prefer that handle shape to the E4, but I can live with the change I guess. Steel will remain the same...H1. I have no idea about the timeframe for the handle changes.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I'd be interested in getting a new Salt I with the updated handle. Hopefully more info on the release date will come out soon.

I much prefer the old style handle (same for the Delica). Shame it's going away!

I like the newer Delica, but yeah, I agree with you on the old Enduras. I don't like what they did with the finger groove placements on the new Endura. Can't figure out what's supposed to go where. haha.

Great news for the Tasman salt as well. Come to think of it, once we've got the D4 handles, we could conceivably see an H1 lil' matriarch at some point in the future.

Here's a couple from the last 2 days. All were gill cut and bled with my modified Atlantic Salt. SASHIMI FOR DAYS!!! :D

Here's an old shot of the knife I'm using until I replace my Pacific Salt. (it was sadly lost at sea a couple of months ago :()

Nice fish Lance. They're biting in the Keys as well. We caught 11 Mahi, a couple tuna (smaller than yours) and a nice wahoo on Saturday. Went diving Sunday and managed only a couple keeper lobsters, many shorts out there. Love this thread.

Thanks Bugs. I reckon those are yf. :) And yes sir, that's a finnor Lethal. Tough little bugger. Too bad I threw it in the ocean two hours ago. Tough day today. :(

Ouch. Win some and lose some... Paint everything yellow and work on your diving ;)

I have to wonder if that's just the new shapes, or also the new handles, liners, screws, 4 way clip and all?

Good question there. If they were to do that I guess it would be time to buy a shoebox full of the current Pacific model.

Wow yellow fin from a yak; even more impressive. My 2nd cup of coffee hadn't kicked in when I eyeballed those Tuna. Those Fin Nor Lethals the 100 model are great reels for the money. Some diver is going to have a good day.

Yes, they offer a lot of bang for the buck and value becomes important when you throw them in the ocean. :roll eyes:

Got some Roosters, Pompano and more Tuna before things got expensive though. Atlantic Salt doing the gill work as usual.

It's not from the sea but it is a lobster and it was slain by a Salt.

Tasman vs. Lobster Mushroom
:)

Does it make it easier for the knife to slip up on its prey when it is wearing lobster mushroom camo?:D Seriously though, cool scales on the Tasman.

You are killing me Lance. An African pompano too. :D

Yes! Here you can see the lobster mushroom in it's natural habitat as the Tasman slowly creeps up on it, going completely unnoticed by it's prey. :D

The yellow frn Pacific salt is part of my edc rotation. I really like this knife so I got a new one with black frn.

I have a Dragonfly Salt that needs a custom paint job. Is there any certain kind of paint that works best?

I think Rit Dye works the best. If you want to make some abstract (or non abstract) patterns you can use hot glue to cover parts of the frn before you dye.
