I took some pics of my first Sanrenmu 738 which I received yesterday. It's really a classy little folder:

Classy and little is right. If it was 50% larger I would LOVE this knife, but as it stands (as with so many Sanrenmus) it is too small. It sure does fly open though. Maybe mine is really good, but this knife is really fast for a thumbstud.

I would recommend getting the Diamond stones for your sharpmaker, makes reprofiling WAY easier! You really can't beat the Sharpmaker, I always get a perfect edge when using mine, no issue at all, and you basically can't mess up the edge.

I've been thinking about those diamond rods for a while, unfortunately they're quite pricey...
How fast do they wear off?

The Diamond rods are great. I've had mine for about 4 months and can't see any wear at all, the diamond coating is tuff stuff. They can be found for right under $40 in the US, not sure elsewhere. Definitely worth the price in time saved alone IMO, makes reprofiling an edge super quick!

Waved the EDC.

What I found is that the protrusion against the 'spine' is what's most important. It is very critical to allow the 'hook' sits as high as possible against the 'spine' in front of it. The EL01 naturally waved best, and EL02 has most chance of failure.

Assuming you don't find them grossly offensive, it makes sense to get Navy knives that mimic more-expensive items. I just wouldn't purchase some of the designs they're based on. This one, however, is just a bit less expensive than the real deal. Same blade steel, and same essential design, but with less effective blade length, less jimping, and a one-position clip. No thanks.

Hello all,

I now have the SRM 733, 710, 707 and 763. All of them are great knives. Mostly really sharp out of the box, and (sometimes after breaking in) they open really smooth.

I also have the Enlan EM-01. It has a nice finish, but it's really inferior regarding opening/closing. First of all, there is a huge diffrence in smoothness: sometimes the knife opens really fast, sometimes it seems stuck. Something I also have with opinel, but they have a wooden handel, so that's normal. It can also be openend without touching the tumb stud, retention (is this te right word?) is not nearly as good as all my SRM knives...
Anyone else has this problem?

Just ordered the Bee L05-1, looks like a great knife too!

Any experience with this one?

It's the Enlan M025

I'm thinking of buying it so any reviews would be appreciated:)

Highly recommended. I've mentioned it in posts once or twice.

It's a liner lock, the blade is 2 7/8 inches, G10 handles. The clip is not deep-pocket but you may not need one.

I haven't weighed it but it's close to 3 oz. Feels substantial for its size but wish it were just a bit lighter.

I had to flush the pivot area under hot water a number of times and lube it before it was as smooth as I like. I've opened two of four I purchased and both had the same issue until the cleaning and lube.

Both are well-centered with no play in any direction and f&f is about what we've come to expect for the better Chinese folders. Blades were fairly sharp out of the box. Just one thumb stud. Feels good in the hand.

The size is perfect for pocket EDCing.

Love the blade shape, which I'd call a combination of a wharncliffe and a drop point. Like it so much I've been searching unsuccessfully for something similar with better materials.

In the meantime, this will do just fine.

I've been wondering when this would take off and become popular.

Thanks for the info :)
I love the blade shape too.
Since i got my Insingo that i've fell in love with wharncliffes.
If your looking for something with better materials the Insingo is definetely the way to go;)
That's also what i was going to try to do if i buy that knife!
I will try to fit that blade in the handle of the SRM 710:eek: Do you think it's possible?
Can you imagine? It would be the "poor man's Insingo":D
If it works i own the copyrights LOL

mantzao,

I admire your idea. Although the Enlan M025 and the SRM 710 are similar in size, I'm dubious about exchanging the blades. But, hey, go for it!

As for the Insingo, I like them enough to have two small ones. It is my favorite wharnie.

What I like about this Enlan is the combination wharnie and drop point shape. I've seen a Klotzi with a similar shape but not much else.

Keep your eyes peeled. This is a great-looking blade -- surely someone else out there recognizes that and is making it.

I've had my Enlans in hand for about a week now and so far I'm impressed. The EL-01b and 02b are nice quality knives, the fact that they were 15 bucks each just increases the value and makes them that much better. I am liking the flipper action of the 01 slightly better than the 02 and its replaced my Benchmade auto stryker as the edc for the time being.

I've found a dime works well for adjusting the particular pivot screw of my 01 but haven't figured out what I can use for the 02.

I'm normally not one to own multiple knives as I stick to the few I own but these enlans are definitely making me want to try out all the variations.
