hey,buddy,can you say something about this NAVY507?i just ordered one on the way to my home,according to Chinese knifriends comment,NAVY always sell poor Quality products to Chinese knifriends.....

Everyone, if you go to exduct, try this: 4E2FD6B94BEAF. Hopefully it gives you discount.

@diablo
Never like serration, so can't comment
@swordbow
If you get from exduct, it should be same quality. Are you sure the bad Navy is not fake? Some faking happened to Sanrenmu/Land. Also it's possible you get a lemon. Navy QC is not as good as SRM or Bee/Enlan.

Mantzao did a review on his k507 sometime ago. If not here, at britishblades forum. If my memory is correct ;)

Could someone post pics of an Enlan EL-02 next to an Ontario Rat 1? Or instead of a comparison in pics alone, a comparison in usage would be appreciated as well. I think both might be used for the same usage (workhorse, cheap folder you don't have to be too afraid about of using it hard). I have an Enlan EL-02, but I was thinking if I could use a Rat 1 in addition, or if the Enlan could keep on fulfilling my needs.

I guess EL02 wins here, as RAT-1 AUS8 is run on the soft side (55-56HRC) while Enlans are usually around 57-59 HRC.

As of size and comfort, sorry, I don't have any info.

If you're looking at AUS8A, I'd suggest to look at Coldsteel lines.

Alas, to buy US branded knives & get them shipped is so cost prohibitive. Most with good price won't ship here. Those that do, charge a lot on shipping.
Tried searching around for Coldsteel Voyagers or Spyderco Resilience, the shipping is more expensive than the knife :eek:
From exduct it is usually less than 10$ per item ;)

I guess I have to stick with these well priced Chinese brand.

Yep, that's my problem exactly. I've seen Rat 1's and for example Kershaw Skylines for 25 USD, shipping conus only. Whenever I see that, I just don't want to buy the same knife for 40 excluding shipping from another source that does ship abroad. I especially don't want to do that since I was able to buy 2 Delica 4 FFG's here at the forums in the 40-50 range with reasnoable shipping charges. I always seem to be too late to catch a user on the forums though,haha. I'll pick a Rat up eventually, because I like the looks of it.
Untill I find something better price/quality wise, the Enlan EL-02 remain my backpacking/outdoorsy folder. Great folder, it amazes me every day. It just has an annoying pivot to loosen/tighten.

Damn slow internet. Spellcheck turned out new post :(

Ok. I see you're in Belgium, similar problem :)

On the pivot:

Try using UHU adhesive (German brand, should be available?), put some into the pivot pin female part, then screw & tighten it to your ideal tightness. Getting loctite might not worth it just for this :confused:
I guess the rubbery texture of the UHU will prevent it loosening, though not sure how good it'll work. I don't have this problem with my EL02 or any of my EDC.

[/IMG]they are both great knives.I find that the rat-1 is more comfortable in my hand .I have no problems with the blade holding a edge.I would think customer sevice would be better with the rat if you did have a problem.the el-02 has been great I have edc'ed this knife ALOT, used it to carve micarta with no problems .I prefer the lock on the el-02 but the liner lock on the rat is rock solid also.hope this helped.If you have more questions just ask.

I have one of the Bee models and a couple of Enlan's and SRM's on the way. Really like what I've seen so far.

Thank you very much, sir! I feel like the EL-02 is quite substantial already, the handles of the RAT 1 are even larger. But then again, I just purchased an Opinel 12 in a local hardware store and that thing is quite big... A lot of fun though! I do really like the looks of the RAT a lot, so I'll get one eventually. Customer service won't matter anyhow. I'm not going to spend the amount of money I'd need to buy a RAT on shipping the knife back to the States and to me again (I live in Europe).

Thanks again for the comparison pics, much appreciated!

Like many of these imports, the EL-02 is great -- when it's great.

One of mine is just fine; the other has a modest amount of blade play that I have found no way to fix.

what sizes of Phosphor bronze washers shuld i be ordering? got a bunch of SRM's and Enlans that could use a tune up, some that came with gross scratchy opening from factory.

it seems like the only ones that have shown up with bad opening feel(not just too tight/loose, but actually grinding) are the liner locks. My guess is it is the little roller ball bearing for the detent that is causing it. any solutions?

In such case I usually polish the area around the pivot on the blade tang and on the liners with 1000 and 2000 grit sandpapers (I even polish the surface of the PB washers too) then I apply some kind of lubricant.

Not sure if this has already been shared, but I was finding that my EL-02B was a bit painful to flick open with the thumb stud. So, I went out and bought some #60 O-rings and places those in the notch cut into each thumb stud. This gives them a nice cushion when flicking it open. The same O-rings fit the studs of the SRM 710 as well.

I can't find the O ring at common store here. Which section it usually is? Plumbing? Auto parts?

My EL02'also has small amount of vertical play, but not affecting lock up. No way to fix, as th play comes from the pivot.

The gritty feeling will go away eventually by oiling & washing repeatedly. However, if you want faster remedy, take it apart & polish them like vortex said. At the same time you can clean up the liners. My k631 liner has gunk & old rust invited by the gunk there that won't go away by merely oiling. Took it out with 1000 grit sandpaper, washed, dried & oiled before putting back together. Compared to the NIB ones, one would be surprised at how smooth all my EDC operates ..

The O rings I picked up were in the plumbing section.
