You're welcome! :) The EL04 is among my top five budget folders because of its ergonomics and excellent slicing ability. I even took it for a hiking trip to the Julian Alps in Slovenia last summer. It brings back nice memories. :)

Hi. vortex!
Saw your picture in this thread yesterday and snaped a few this morning ...same theme, same beer :)
Have two of those knives. As you can see one is a bit modified. Grooved G-10 with grinder and hand sanded a bit.
It might not look like it but it is smoother than stock texturing on G-10.
With a few adjustments and good sharpening it's quite a knife for the price.

Next time you plan visiting Slovenia mail me.
I am sure I can help you with some great mountaineering(paddling, mountainbiking, skiing also) destinations.

Congratulations, you did a nice job on those G10 scales!
Did you wear a respirator during the process? (The dust is my main concern about modding G10 or micarta scales.)

Regarding the beer I've just discovered that grapefruit radler in a local supermarket so I'm ready for the hot days. ;)

We visit Slovenia year by year, so I really appreciate your offer about the mountaineering tips. Thanks!

can any of you guys recommend some of these knives other than the enlan el-02 (I already know and love the el-02) that has the axis lock?

The Ganzo G704 perhaps? Big solid knife with thick blade and axis lock. Mine had extremely solid lock-up and a perfectly centered blade. Too big for edc carry for my tastes, but excellent as a working knife. Check it out.

SRM 763. It's smaller than the EL02, so you'll probably put it to use differently, but the axis lock is way smoother.

I have 702 and 704. They both have some vertical play. Overall seem like solid knives but this was a bummer.

OS: That's the problem with Chinese knives in general though, the quality control. It's always a bit of a gamble, but then, that can be said of other brands as well. For instance, both blade centering and lock-up on my Ganzo 704 is noticeably better than on my Benchmade Mini Griptilian. That is not to say that Ganzo is better than Benchmade though, far from it, but when you're lucky and get a good knife from China it can be surprisingly good.

Cool thread by the way, I'll be sure to check out some of the other models mentioned here. Personally I'm a big Spyderco fan when it comes to folders, but the various Chinese knives make superb gifts for non-knife people.

i like making some of these knives gifts since the price point is great and the quality is fine.

that being said...i do like my chapparal in my pocket and my srm710 in my first aid kit.

Yeah, I know, but I have maybe 25 of the various SRM, Enlan, Navy, Bee, etc. These are the only two with lockup play in either direction, at least once pivot is tweaked. Also the only two Ganzos I have, or will.

What's version of the G704 do you have?
I used to have two of the older version and both of them had a very little vertical blade play.
I have one of the new version (thicker blade (4 mm), bigger thumb studs) too and its lock up is rock solid.

Don't know how to know which version.

Got this about 4 months ago maybe, seems to have 4mm widest on top of blade.

Got the 702 at same time, both from one of the prolific eBay fellers, so I assume they're probably both the current issue.

So, saw this, an Enlan "F710", obviously same as SRM 710, at least in shape. Little musical theme on handle.

No honor among thieves, even in China? :)

Or are all these companies actually just one somehow under PRC "state capitalism"?

I thought Enlan and SRM were produced by one and the same company? Much like kershaw and ZT also have the same owners in the USA? I might be wrong on this, I only remember reading this somewhere. It would make it possible for them to interchange designs, although it would be kinda weird. Also, I think it's strange that Enlan would stamp their logo so far up the blade. Maybe a third party is involved, making knockoffs of the 710 and wrongly stamping it with Enlan (on purpose?). Strange thing indeed.
Looking at the musical theme that's going on, I think the "F" might stand for "Funky":D

On the new improved version the "ganzo" logo is grey.

I guess it's "gray" on the 704, it isn't black.

On the 702, of course, it's white, since blade is black.

If I ever get boxes mixed up, will forget which is which anyway, model number not on knives.

Found some knives after several hours of searching with just the keyword of knife that some may be interested in.

I'm very interested in all these designs and their own rather than cheaper versions of the actual products, wish they weren't, look nice.

Funky 710

Possibly a third party. Sone did the fake SRM910 (larger 710) when people were looking for it.

Jacky from exduct might be able to clarify. Once he stated many other would copy & pirate SRM & Enlan brand for these two are getting well known.

For time being, I'd stick with models available via Exduct to be safe.

I've found Exduct's customer service to be terrible. There were some problems with my order. I wasn't asking him/them to exchange them and ship replacements, which would cost them money. I was asking to return for a refund. He called me a liar and said I didn't have a good reason (sent the wrong version of some Sanrenmu 710s). I'd recommend against buying from Exduct. Prices on eBay tend to be higher, but the sellers can be held accountable.
