Nothing came in the mail today...:(

he didn't meet any of his multiple self-imposed deadlines...

Most importantly, Steve didn't meet the ONE & ONLY deadline I EVER required from him: 8/13/2017...

PayPal claim escalated...there's no way he's getting the knives to me on Sunday, so I'm taking the next step today...I've given him so much latitude and free rein I've left myself virtually no cushion to wait further before time runs out to demand a refund. I've already let the window close on my $60 I PayPal'd him last year for the CTek slabs.

Never dreamed I'd have to be THE ONE to complain about SKETCHEN SCALES. I've never had to initiate a PayPal claim against ANYONE---EVER!!!...another first. :(

Sad news indeed, but I totally agree with you at this point :(

This is a shame, a reputation ruined because he didn't care enough to keep in touch or keep his own self imposed deadlines. David, Pete, Ed and everyone else who's ever dealt with him, sorry he let you guys and everyone down. He was given ample opportunity to make this right but opted not to.

Steven, sorry to see you chose to embark on a path with no possible good outcome. These guys really put their faith in you and wanted to see you succeed but you were determined to prove them wrong, What a shame Steven, what a shame. It's most likely too late to change anyone's opinion of you but you can still make this right, I hope you do just out a moral obligation.

Pete have you tried calling him...I would but don't have his phone nr., I did write him a letter which I assume he received as I never had it posted back to me. Although this is my first go around with Steve I assumed he was a standup person by all the positives I read about him.. something made him drift out of character I am thinking.

Won't answer my calls or texts anymore...smh
Petemit looks like we are both out knives... hopefully paypal can at least get your money back.. like a dummy I sent a cashiers check so am outta luck for both knife and money... about the only recourse I have left is to visit his forum page now and again and warn folks if he starts up again.

There's been lots of threads in here where the lynch mob came out instantly, but with the reputation Steve had, nearly everyone here was willing to give him plenty of chances to make things right. It really is a shame to see someone that was highly regarded just ignore his customers because he fell on hard times, or whatever the case may be. Hopefully he can pick himself back up, but I don't think he'll ever fully regain people's trust back after the way he's been handling things. Gotta communicate with people and be realistic about what you tell them or your reputation will just spiral downwards.

After dealing with him for almost 3 years and countless projects I am literally speechless.
I would have sworn he'd never wind up in a thread like this.
I also sent a bunch of e mails......he never responded to one of them. I even offered help.
I guess I'm one of those guys that says.......but he was such a nice reputable guy. He really was.
I would love to know what the hell happened for a great guy like Steve to turn into.......whatever the hell he has turned into.
However bad it was, all he had to do was address everyone's concerns. I'll bet if he was straight shooting we would STILL support him.
Not any more. Makes me sick.
Joe

That's the way I feel about it as well Joe...as long as a man is honest about the situation, I could be understanding. If a person tries to bs me with excuses and missed deadlines, and especially ignoring me, I'd start losing respect for them. Hopefully everyone does get made whole in the end, but Steve definitely could've done a better job here to salvage his reputation.

Absolutely Corey. All he had to do was come here and lay it out for us.
The most damning thing he could've done was to go dark. Unforgivable.
When I e mailed him a month ago he responded in 15 mins. We spoke for a while.
He told me some shit hit the fan, but he was going to start up again in August. I was sending him 2 knives for scales.
When Pete started this thread I e mailed him right away......bout 5 times and got nothing back.
You just CANNOT go dark.
This sucks.
Joe

PS......Steve....at least send these guys their knives back. I'm sure you have their information. Just drop them in the mail.......then disappear.

You know what it's sad this happened I loved to see his work and thought of getting a few knives done. But after seeing the pouring support from truly great BF members going ignored I would never trust him with a knife even if he resurfaced. Steve a lot of great members spoke so highly of you and you shat in their face. The op had crazy patience with your antics and it's a shame your morals went down the drain. Now you have members money and knives and went dark really a shame. Along with other providers here that have screwed members I hope now after all the chances you've been givin you get a sticky dedicated to your terrible acts to the people here on BF

From what I can tell-- ***REMEMBER*** this is my first PayPal claim/dispute/escalation-- Steve has 11 days to reply to my claims that he hasn't delivered on his contracted services. So we're on the clock again. :(

As for getting my blades back, I've got a brother over at SpydercoForums who claims he knows Steve and plans on knocking on his door to take claim of my blades. He assures me it'll be a friendly visit. I told him I'd give him my proxy and notify Steve also via email & text to let him know. Last thing I communicated with my friend was DO NOT under any circumstance approach Steve about my blades if he felt there was even one iota of chance for conflict of any kind, even an argument.

My Spyder-friend has not gotten back with me...not sure if he's had time or if he's decided against the expedition-- either one is fine by me. :)

I want my property back, but knives are not worth the conflict when I've got others and it's not a matter of survival.

IMHO:
1. Not delivering on services is bad business.
2. Not communicating with clients is bad business & unwise.
3. Keeping property that's not rightfully yours is criminal.

Steve, you can explain away #'s 1 & 2-- and I've already forgiven you regardless if what you've told me & everyone else about your hardships is true or not <sounds like others here are ready to let it go, too>...but if you keep my knives, well...you've just taken it to a whole other level...

Can't you see? These aren't threats or attacks-- they're chances to redeem yourself...absolutely no ill will toward you, EVER.

Pete I wonder if you could give me Stev's phone nr.. I will provide my email so it doesn't become general knowledge. Maybe he will answer to an unfamiliar phone nr.. if you don't feel comfortable doing so I understand. My email is sparkdogelw@aol.com.

The only positive I can take from this experience is that I have been introduced to some fine people who have held out a hand to a struggling brother and have given him ample time to right himself.

Goes to show that anyone can slip and fall, no one is invulnerable. The problems that cause the fall aside, when one comes to explain the situation, it can be hard for anything one says to not sound like a flat out BS excuse. At any rate, that is why we try not to jump the gun when it comes to people that have a decent track record. Having information about what is happening is necessary though, dead silence is seen as contemptuous and disregard for the person being dealt with. That is what gets me, why ghost yourself and pretend like no one knows you are gone or missing?

Ernest, don't take this the wrong way, please.

I don't feel I have the right to give out his phone number to anyone. Just like I'm not gonna air his personal reasons <lies they may be, perhaps> that he's stonewalled me with on my blades without his permission.

Nothing personal to you, I'm just old school and respect the right to privacy above almost all else...even if he is being a jerk right now, he's entitled to give or retain his personal info. as only he sees fit, IMHO.
