Stolen ZT Knives at Shot Show 2014

Did anyone happen to check under tables at the M/T booth after they went missing? lol. Hate to say it but it was the first thing to cross my mind.

As in the pawn shop or re-po bidnezz, there a two types of people in the firearms industry; those that are paranoid and those that get ripped off. Trust no one.

In this day and age of cameras everywhere, I am suprised that a surveilance video hasn't outed the thief.

With the amount of people there and the foot traffic at booth, I am sure it would be pretty diccult to see unless the booth was empty and the knives were in plain view.

I know what happened. The knives are on their way to China to be ripped off. The Chinese knockoff moguls have scouts at shot show for the purposes of knocking off products. This has been well established on the gun forums. I remember in 2011 a Schmidt and Bender 1-8x scope prototype scope was hijacked.

Personally, I think that the China connection is not very likely. These were production knives that could have been purchased from any number of retailers. The thing that makes them special is the laser etching, and the charity that they are going to support. There would be no reason to steal them to copy the design as it is readily available to them any way. Unless there are Chinese that are way cheaper than even I can imagine.

While I agree it would be a logistical nightmare its 2014 and this is LV, the security/surveillance capital of the world. If there is no video/no cameras its because the venue didn't spring for an upgrade, not because the technology doesn't exist to be able to pick out individuals in a large group and track them, even without human input. If it was at a casino instead of a convention center it wouldn't of happened.

Not trying to argue here but this is far from the truth. No possible way that you would be able to pick out an individual without human input. This kind of incidents happen at casinos all the time and a lot of times the person is not caught. I'm not sure what kind of technology you guys have in Ohio but here in Vegas, its far from that. Do you know there are casinos here that still use VCRs and VHS tapes?

I'll be honest, the first thing I thought was "Are you kidding? You steal from ZT at SHOT show and you don't go for the prototypes?"

Oh this is so messed up. I hate crap like this, reminds me of a party I went to where someone stole a deaf guys cellphone which was his only way of communicating with people who didn't know sign language. I think I'll be making a a donation to the charity next payday and checking craigslist, eBay etc, you never know.

I would put money on this involving the staff somehow. It doesn't seem like a crime of chance; too risky for too little payoff.

See thats the thing, the staff above all should know how hard it would be to move these knives considering they are all one offs. There really is no pay off that I can think of except for someone who either wanted them for themselves, or if some shady dude who knows collectors who dont care how their knives are acquired had the opportunity. The only other thing I can think of is it was an act of spite from a competitor.

Highly unlikely, no competitor would risk the fallout of stealing from a charity, plus this gives more attention to ZT
