It does not take intestinal fortitude say others are lying, it just takes a bully pulpit.
I do agree with you that making money off of lies is despicable. That is why I would NEVER sell Cold Steel products for instance. I guess some would argue a degree of separation makes it ok though. To me though that kind of smells like excuse making.

this is where the internet stuff get started... I said ASK , you read " say it to the face ". So regardless of what is said , it will only be percieved how each wants to percieve it.

Any friend that asks whether in person or on the phone or in a private message or forum will no longer be considered a friend and would be written off as the enemy right away. Its that simple. Speaking of lies. I guess its ok to lie for you guys depending on the lie and the magnitude of it right? Thats what I understand anyway..
I once gave advice to a relative of mine for something he asked me about in private. After all was said and done he didn't take my advice of course and didn't even like hearing it at the time.
He came to me to tell me that he had been involved with a woman that was the sexiest woman he had ever had his two arms around, and that they were friends first and had known each other for some time at work and that it went to the next level just recently when they made love for the first time. They were supposed to be getting together again that night. He was so excited he couldn't stand still.
I asked him for the girls name. He told me and immediately I knew who she was and that she was married to a guy in the service. I said to him, "that girl is married you know that right?" He says to me, "oh yeah, but she is going to divorce him when he gets home from overseas."
I pointed out that it was not wise to get involved with her. I told him to look at it this way. First of all the relationship they are starting is based upon a lie. She is cheating on her husband and he is sleeping with a married woman. She is capable of cheating on her husband so marriage means very little to her and apparently committment doesn't mean much either.
So I asked him, "what makes you think she would be above cheating on you?' I mean its obvious she is not above cheating now and has in the past. At the same time what makes her able to trust you? You slept with a married woman so that says marriage doesn't mean a whole lot to either one of you. So how could she trust you to not sleep with someone else later behind her back the same way whether the woman be married or not? You see the trust is never going to be there in this kind of relationship. If she is capable of lies to her husband, and cheating on her husband and you are capable of sleeping with her behind her husband's back and everyone elses neither of you can be trusted by the other and never will be fully trusted by the other period.
Each time you leave home for work in the morning you will wonder is she alone today at home or if she works you will wonder then too what she is doing and who she is with. Each time you see her flirting with another man you will wonder if she is being honest with you about her relationship with him and she will do the same thing with you when she sees you with another woman. Before long you'll question every word out of her mouth and insecurity and jealousy will take over the entire relationship. You'll wonder each time someone hangs up the phone in your ear if its her secret boyfriend.
In a good relationship whether it be a friend or lover one can trust the other completely and if there is not very much trust its not a true friendship. Its just going through the motions of being superficial aquaintances otherwise and you are just fooling yourself.
Does it matter if you lie habitually in a relationship? It sure does to me and my wife of 25 years. Does it matter if your friend has been caught in a lie in the past as to how you take or swallow things he says in the future to you? You know it does. Don't kid yourselves.

I honestly didn't take John's post as anything more than a simple "ask them," and I doubt he meant anything other than that. My whole problem with the "go to a show and ask them" line of thinking is, what good would that do? Does anybody think that "asking" someone who's been accused of having a track record of lying and not stepping in (unless by Court Order) to set the record straight is a good way to get the truth. I don't.

It probably would be downright stupid. You are not likely to get a straight answer, and just might end up in a fight. I don't know why anyone thinks that Duane would be willing to talk this over with someone that walked up to him at a knife show. About the only thing that it would likely accomplish is to piss Duane off.
it is not my position to judge them....the lives given are the ones lost in defense of our great country from day one until tomorrow...my point is these threads are un productive...they dont hurt strider knives....strider knives sell as fast as they make them....and the people being attact here dont even dignify all this with a response....so in my humble opinion this is just a bashing.

So either his credentials aren't based on what we believe his record is or he has been able to snow an awful lot of people who have the means and werewithall to find out differently.
It is very possiable that he was vetted as a trainer based on his own experiences having nothing to do with military service, in which case all he is guilty of is not stopping others from spreading the hype printed about him. Is this wrong, yes but no where near the same as stolen valor.

I don't understand, you speak of fallen Soldiers, yet do not want people who falsely claim to have served in combat to be criticized? You also don't want to judge them, but seem to have quite openly judged the critics. And I don't see why you would bother, if these threads have no effect anyway.

I don't know Duane nor Mick, don't own their wares, and don't have any personal stake in this dispute. Hopefully Duane will recognize that I harbor no malice, and will be receptive to my questions.
If I expected to see him in person, I would respectfully ask him face to face. However, I don't expect to be seeing him in person any time soon, so, instead, I intend to try to call him, at the Strider Knives number on their website, in a few days (after the holidays).
I'll put together a relatively short list of questions, and, if he honors me with his willingness to listen to my questions and answer them, then I'll ask him these, and report his answers. Here are a few questions, so far:

I don't know, have you seen the article? If anyone was interviewed I am sure it would say so. Or was the article based on the writers culling of information from other sources. I may be mistaken but I bekieve there was a retraction printed at a later date for that article.

OK Its game over.. Strider knives is done.. You guys won! They will never sell another knife. Mick and Duane are both lying dirty scumbag, scoundrels, and cowards of the worst sort. We GOT IT!
Now what do you do with all this free time on yer hands? WHO is next? You guys are out to set all the wrong right in this industry who is next on the list? I mean you cant just bash on Strider knives forever, you have a next in line right? What will you do?
There are at least a couple other prominants I know of with illusion to shady past lives, and fictional names. CIA involvement, undercover work, with erased histories etc etc.
Surely you guys being so thorough are running investigations on all sorts of people in the biz.. I mean what will you do with all that time now?
Im actually suprised its only 31 pages long.. The fire must be burning out of yer bellies. I thought this would be up to at least 60 pages by now......snore.
