I will give it one more page before Sharky375 calls the whole thing off. Here you have a man that is neutral and trying to get to the bottom of things, yet you guys still aren't happy. A man offers help but you still don't like it. There are people that just aren't going to be happy unless they get their own VERSION of the truth. It just shows the true nature of this whole thread.

Now people are crapping on a man that is trying to find the truth. Isn't that what all of you have been wanting??? Just let the man and socnet finish.

Not taking pot shots at all. You made a statement that seemed to imply that I was just gonna call up Dwayne Dwyer and accept whatever he decides to tell me. Did I misread that?

So, I tried to explain to you why his input is important. If you cant grasp my response there's nothing more I can do to help you understand. I dont take pot shots. If I was pissed off about it I would just ignore you.

No offense, but I don't know Sharky from a hole in the ground, nor does he know me. He's offered to help, and I respect that offer, but until results are posted that can be confirmed by actual records, he's just another guy on the web. Nobody here is crapping on him.

Some people have questions and want more information, but nobody is attacking him. More than a few, including myself, have extended their thanks and hope that he can provide assistance in bringing this entire disgusting affair to a close - one way or another.

So don't try to spin this in any way, or speculate as to what people are thinking / doing / saying. The whole "trust me" thing is worn out right now, and failed miserably; otherwise we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.

Mr Sharky says he's the admin at SOCNET, and I'm going to extend him every courtesy as such. He says he's enlisted the aid of 4 real deal S/S's who'll be checking on this, again, fine by me and more than welcome - I certainly don't have the knowledge, contacts, or resources for that. If he's willing to utilize them to put this to rest, great, because one way or another this needs to be resolved.

Past that, there isn't much more to discuss on this until new developments take place. Sharky's people need time and cooperation to work. Presumably if they've dealt with fakes before, they know the questions to ask to verify someone's status. A DD-214 is a piece of the puzzle. Unit commanders & NCO's can all be cross checked. Etc. Let them do their thing. Others are certainly already doing their's, and following up on their own leads. Until he actually has results, he can't be expected to post them. If he needs people to stop calling about this, that sounds reasonable to me.

Sorry if it came across that I was talking down to you or anyone else on here. I guess I am used to dealing with fellow SOF guys who generally have thicker skin. Your post insinuated that I would basically just take Dwyer at his word, which I found insulting. But, rather than open fire on you in a forum where I am a guest, I tried to explain my rationale to you instead in a straight forward manner.


And for the record, I wont be asking Dwyer anything. The Marines who volunteered to do it will handle that. I am going to stay out of their way. All I wanted was everyone else to stay out of their way as well. That's it. Nothing more.
 
I think you've made it more than clear at this point. Unfortunately, for those unfamiliar with this situation, there's been a legendary amount of (deliberate or otherwise) confusion, befuddlement, "trust me's" and obfuscation, so at this point people are asking for very specific details to eliminate wiggle room & nebulous answers.

Thank you again for your offer of assistance. I know this is probably the last thing you want to be involved with; I'm not a fan of having it crop up yet again either.

Thank you both. I cant promise anything in the way of results or answers. Much of that will depend on how much info Mr. Dwyer provides. I have no doubt that the Marines involved will do their best to settle this with finality. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

This is exactly what we need, and Dwyer needs. If he is legit, I will send him an email apologizing to him as I must admit my mind is pretty much made up though I have not vocalized those thoughts anywhere on the internet. Mr Dwyer's inbox better be filled with apologies if he is legit.

If he is a fraud then he also gets what he deserves.

But SOCNET is the vehicle to the answer, and I am happy to wait for a definative conclusion.
