Strider "warranty" process

Umm whats going on here lol
Its hilarious how this thread got out of hand so fast

Anyway still no updates.. And to answer some of you who asked who I'm emailing, like i mentioned before, I have no idea who it is.. The email address they provide on their website is service at striderknives dot com.. Whoever replies doesnt put down his name or anything

But buying a $400 knife that develops lock rock in a couple of months is already bad enough.. You'd expect better quality control from the oh-so-epic-hard-use-folder.. But whatever, no problem.. At least have better customer service! Show some respect to people who paid for your products.

Im not rich.. So the money I've spent on my striders is actually quite substantial for me.. Is it too much at least expect them to hold their end of the bargain With "life time warranty" claims?

Seems like the strategy is to make you wish you never sent it in in the first place

I realize I am a little irritated in my responses, I'll quit it. I personally know stolen valor type people and there shunned and an embarrassment to soldiers and military folks. Hearing people don't care about it is just unbelievable. I guess they don't understand. Thanks KELEMA for the diffusing comment, it is appreciated.. seriously.
+1 Having a civil discussion about Mick Strider, & Strider knives, without controversy, is next to impossible.

Shinyedges: thank you very much for your service. I can definitely empathize why this is such a sore subject with you...just hold your head high, & be proud, of who "YOU" are, & for the sacrifices that you made, patriotically serving our Country!

As for the OP here: I hope that you get your Strider knife back soon, & in the condition you expect a $400+ knife to be in.

Good luck, may this experience guide you on your future purchases. Its a bummer when you have 400.00 wrapped up in a knife and get treated like crap.

I really wish they would get it together. The customer service is what's stopping me from trying a strider again. It really sucks because I would try them again, they are not super human they make mistakes just like everyone else. But this isn't some fluke, it keeps happening. So how would I feel if I give them the benefit of the doubt and have the same problem. I'd look like a idiot. People would say why you crying, you knew this was a problem and you did it again, you deserve whatever you get right.

Just waiting for the day someone says we are fixing our end and we appreciate all your patients. Something, until then.

Check out the post I made a few posts back, it was probably buried under the bickering. You want to get in touch with Jeff@striderknives.com, he's in charge of their warranty service apparently and he responded to me quite quickly.

Thanks man,
I'll wait rest of the day to see if I hear back, if not I'll email Jeff directly

A lot of people DON'T understand. They key word here is: HONOR.
People who lack honor in their personal life, usually are lacking in this virtue in their professional lives. I don't know Mick Strider, personally; there are so many stories out there, & I honestly don't know what the truth is.

I have on the other hand, personally visited Strider's place of business, in San Marcos (before they moved their operations a few miles further East (to Escondido). During my visit, I was greeted by, Josh Lee & FWIW- I had a very enjoyable visit with Josh. He gave me a tour through the various phases (work stations) of their shop, & that in turn, gave me a much greater appreciation of how long & difficult the process of knife making really is.

Josh, used to be the person who handled most of Strider's customer relations/warranty, & was usually pretty good at communicating. I know that Strider used to be kept pretty busy with some of their large contracts for the Military (easy Shinyedges;). There are quite a few USMC here at Camp Pendleton, who are issued Strider knives before their deployments to the Middle East.

It's just a guess, Leon, but I'm assuming that you sent in your knife for warranty repair, at a time when possibly Strider may have had a large contract order deadline?

I no longer have Josh Lee's phone number, & I'm not an Instagram kind of guy, but this may work for you:

Best of luck!

Hi all..
I'm just trying to figure out if it's only me who's had an absolute sh!t of an experience dealing with the strider warranty process..

Ok here's the story.
<rant>
I live in Canada, so I email them in advance saying this is where I live, and I have a problem with my SNG, do I still put in $25 for return shipping or more or what..
I get a reply saying they can fix my problem and yes $25 is enough..so I go ahead and ship the knife, and according to the tracking , it gets there on the Nov 1st.
I email them and they confirm having received it and say that it will go out on Nov 10th.

So I email on Nov 15th and ask if the knife is shipped, and if so what's the tracking info..I get a reply on the 18th that it hasnt gone yet and that it will go that week..
So I'm like whatever and keep waiting until 23rd, when I email again asking for tracking info..Guess what? my email is completely ignored this time.
I email AGAIN 2 days later on the 25th, asking where is my knife, and how come im being ignored..I get a response a day later, saying it is out for shipping but they dont have the paperwork so cant tell me the tracking info

I wait another week, no signs of any knives in the mail...emailed on Dec 2nd, and yes, I'm ignored AGAIN!!

so seriously, am I the only one with this crappy experience?
I own several striders but this is the first time I have to deal with the "warranty" process..and quite frankly, it's ridiculous..I did not expect this kind of ..or this lack of customer service when I bought a $400 production knife...
seriously..this is a joke..

I'd seriously think hard before purchasing another strider again..they are good until u need any kind of support...apparently you wont get any..you pay good money and get shit treatment as a fan and customer...

sigh..</rant> lol

I realize that you are frustrated, Leon...& to be honest, if this were my Strider, I would be quite upset, also.

I hope this will cheer you up: :D

Wise words on honor, sparks thread on strider has a lot of facts. Specifically posts from mick here on bladeforums lying. That said I'm glad your experience with them was good. Josh sounds like an asset to the company they shouldn't let him go.

Update:

Finally got a 2 line response just a few mins ago that my knife has just been dropped off at the mail today.

Thats great news.. Finally getting it back.. :D
But this just proves when they kept saying its gone for shipping past several weeks, it really wasn't and it was still sitting there..

Anyway im glad to be getting my knife back.. And that's definitely it for me amd striders.. Dont wanna be dealing with this unnecessary crap again

Thank you all for your suggestions and for hearing me during these "tough times" #firstworldproblems lol:)

Just wanted to chime in here... I've dealt with Strider via email before and they are pretty slow to respond- but they've always taken care of me. It's slower than I'm used to from other companies, and I haven't had an issue like Leon's, but they've taken care of my two striders for two separate issues (one self inflicted).

I'm not here defending anyone regarding Leon's situation, but just saying that YMMV as I've had good experiences so far (knock on wood).

Good to hear that Leon. Could you post an update on how the knife came and if the issues were fixed? Thanks.

Im a fan of Strider knives and think the work their putting out now is the best they've ever produced. All the other crap I really don't care about. I'm a fan of sharp things and Strider makes a sweet knife. Now does that make me immoral and lacking integrity. According to most on this forum... I guess so. Im not one to call other people out and look over others sitting on my high horse. Especially over the internet. If ya really want to you can tell Mick how you feel about him. Just go to Blade or the USN gatherings. Maybe you can shoot the shit with him. Maybe you'll see hes not that bad of a guy.

I knew nothing of the story when I bought the knife.
Can't peeps make mistakes?

Yes, and I'll be the first to forgive when I see any sign of apology, conscience or atonement for the deeds done.

I'm waiting on mine to come back next week. Jeff said mine would go out next Monday, so, 4 weeks turn around. I played by their rules, shipped through UPS, etc. No one responded to me for like a week, then I tried a different email and Josh got back to me. I waited it out for 3 weeks, then emailed him again a few days ago, and Jeff got back to me within in hour saying it ships out Monday. Why did I ship it off? Lock rock of course, brand spanking new, with CLACKING lock rock. I emailed KnifeArt expressing my concerns, to let them know that I got mine like that. I said they should make sure they don't have more duds. Guess what? Every single person I've talked to, out of 8 folks now, with cerakote SnG's...they all came with lock rock. KnifeArt never got back to me either. I was a big fan of them before that.

Strider's fix for lock rock and tensionless lock bars is to put on a bigger stop pin. That takes 4 weeks to do, I guess. After years of being called out on this stupid, avoidable issue, they have a solution...and make you send it in with $ to have it fixed regardless of knowing the solution beforehand. They won't just sell all their knives with the right stop pins when they know there is a problem, and I can't imagine why.

I love my SnG but their CS is just silly. Yeah, the knife get's fixed and comes back home. For $50 ($25 shipped via UPS with $25 included for return) on top of $400+ for a brand new knife, it damn well better make it home fixed, and fast. Are you not supposed to expect that? Lol...So silly.

Hope you get yours back soon OP.

edit: Missed your last post. Glad you're getting it back soon. Enjoy the knife, it really is awesome, minus all the bullshit.

Nothing brings out the emotions like a good old fashioned Strider thread. :)

Yeah, maybe. Or maybe he'll invite you to lick his sack and come out back and settle it like a man. Like that proves anything. Phew! Best bet is to now sell that "perfect" Strider to someone who doesn't know that "forever warranty" means it will take forever to hear from them.

Now that's funny lol The "I don't care what he's done he's friendly and will talk to me!" People crack me up.
