Strider "warranty" process

The customer paying to fix a manufacturing defect sure is silly.
I'm waiting on mine to come back next week. Jeff said mine would go out next Monday, so, 4 weeks turn around. I played by their rules, shipped through UPS, etc. No one responded to me for like a week, then I tried a different email and Josh got back to me. I waited it out for 3 weeks, then emailed him again a few days ago, and Jeff got back to me within in hour saying it ships out Monday. Why did I ship it off? Lock rock of course, brand spanking new, with CLACKING lock rock. I emailed KnifeArt expressing my concerns, to let them know that I got mine like that. I said they should make sure they don't have more duds. Guess what? Every single person I've talked to, out of 8 folks now, with cerakote SnG's...they all came with lock rock. KnifeArt never got back to me either. I was a big fan of them before that.

Strider's fix for lock rock and tensionless lock bars is to put on a bigger stop pin. That takes 4 weeks to do, I guess. After years of being called out on this stupid, avoidable issue, they have a solution...and make you send it in with $ to have it fixed regardless of knowing the solution beforehand. They won't just sell all their knives with the right stop pins when they know there is a problem, and I can't imagine why.

I love my SnG but their CS is just silly. Yeah, the knife get's fixed and comes back home. For $50 ($25 shipped via UPS with $25 included for return) on top of $400+ for a brand new knife, it damn well better make it home fixed, and fast. Are you not supposed to expect that? Lol...So silly.

Hope you get yours back soon OP.

edit: Missed your last post. Glad you're getting it back soon. Enjoy the knife, it really is awesome, minus all the bullshit.

The last batch of orange cerakoted SnG's from GPKnives all had lock issues as well. Even on the frighteningly agreeable Strider forum on the USN some people were expressing their disappointment about it. I simply do not understand why having the proper amount of lockbar tension has been such an issue for them.

If it bothers you to deal with Mick then contact Josh who was a for real Marine Sniper. . . . . .what? . . . really?. . . . . .a Marine IT specialist? Never mind.

This is from the last Stider warranty thread that got locked. I think this quote from, "watanabe" sums it up best!

That about sums up my experience there as I related above. They have great skill at turning any shortcomings with the company, the product, the customer service, etc., into shortcomings with the customer- you had problems contacting us? We're busy and your an impatient pussy who didn't try hard enough. You're complaining that our knives don't have perfect fit and finish? Our knives are for bad asses that don't care about looks and you're a pussy for even mentioning it. You are complaining about the $25 fee to cover the handling and return of your knife? You are a cheap bastard who doesn't appreciate how busy we are with more important things. Oh, and you're a pussy for complaining so go buy some other guy's knife....

Hopefully every time one of these ridiculous threads comes up Strider will lose a few more prospective customers. I know I didn't know anything about Mick's lying or the fanboys and their dogpiling till an earlier iteration of this thread, and I'm glad I saw the facts before spending my money on one of Strider's products.

Agreed, sparks compilation of info should be a sticky somewhere every bladeforums member will see it in my opinion.

I've read of peoples memberships being terminated on USN forum for asking a question about strider.. not insulting, or bashing merely asking a question. It seems on other forums its comply or your banned type mentality. I'm glad spark is a vet who aired mick out, and allows people to form there own opinion. THANKS SPARK for this awesome place.

Thanks, I hope you get yours back soon too

and yes, good knife minus all the bullshit indeed...except the bullshit is apparently overwhelming lol

I wouldnt have minded the turnaround time of a month, if they were honest with it
not keep claiming that the knife has gone for shipping, or will go for shipping this week, or next week..and then it becoming obvious that they hadnt done shit until I sent several angry letters..and them admitting that they just dropped it off at the post office just then.

and all of this is if you put aside the fact that a $400 so-called overbuilt beast of a knife develops blade play couple of months into its life
ppl say they are worth the price "if you get a good one"..but from what I see they seem to have shitty yield if this many ppl have to send their back for blade play reasons...
or even worse, it's a shitty design that they are aware of, but they keep going with regardless

I'm personally done with them after this experience...poor quality control and terrible customer service make those knives not really worth the price..

i think it's unrealistic to expect to exchange emails back and forth through the whole process, received, fixed, shipped, etc. Send it in, when they're done they'll send it back. I would rather they have their people making SnGs instead of answering emails.

We expect instant gratification but some times you just need a little patience.

I've used Strider's repair service once. Sent my SnG in, got it back about 6 weeks later good as new. Works for me.

...what kind of blade play do you have? It's not just a loose pivot is it?

I kind of agree with you, but note that the only reason I emailed to inquire about my knife is because in their original email they promised (without me pushing for anything) it will be shipped the monday after...so after not having received it, I emailed to ask for tracking info..I wanted to know if its lost int he mail or what..then they said oh it actually wasnt sent, it will go the week after...then the week after comes and they ignore the email...and the week after they say oh its gone but we dont have tracking info...then another week after they finally admit it just got sent...
see my point?

anyway..

I had not noticed how a few people decided to take this thread and turn it int something it was not, driving it off topic with repetitive commentary and insults. This is not helpful to the OP and it is not helpful to anyone else with the same issue. Whatever your feelings on the knife maker isn't the topic, getting a knife repaired is. One time request, knock that crap off immediately. If you are unable to provide any help based on the original post, keep your hands away from the keyboard while reading the thread, simple. This goes for this section and the rest of the forums. Or don't, there will be prizes handed out for those that cannot concede to the request.

The Strider Way.

As a USNer myself, I wouldn't bring the topic up there unless worded HIGHLY professionally and in a forgiving tone. Actually, I did mention how I was very disappointed, in a polite way, and people responded very well. They were sympathetic to the fact that I dropped $475 of my hard earned money and got less than I paid for. While I don't appreciate having to censor myself in an otherwise uncensored environment, I also wouldn't go into someone else's home and spark up a cigarette knowing they dont smoke, if you catch my drift?

About the lockbar tension...I'm with you. I don't get it either. Framelocks have been around, what, 25 years? Not many other manufacturers in the class range of Strider Knives have the same issues. Actually, I'd venture to say that they are the only production framelocks that you can expect lock rock and weak lock bar tension on, brand new. It really is a shame too because I think the knives are super cool. Very strong, awesome steels, fits my hand well, and performance oriented.

These threads do have an effect. When the orange SnG's showed up on my Facebook feed I had a "omg I must have that!!" moment. Then I remembered all the negative things I have read about the company since I joined here and decided to pass. Looks like I made the correct choice.

$400 mediocre built knife with a crappy customer service? Thats why I stick with me Emersons and Spydies. We are better off with Hinderer and CRK's at that price point not to add a great and I mean great customer service. Pshh!

I had a SnG user back in the day that had a lot of play. I contacted Josh about it and he told me it wasn't a big issue and most people just deal with it... tried to get me to not send it in and made me feel like a whiner for something I didn't feel like a brand new knife that expensive should be doing. Turned me off of the brand pretty quick and that was before it all came out that the company was built on what's now being called "stolen valor". With all the issues over the years, I'm pretty sure they just assemble parts and don't do any kind of quality control other than, "eh, it works".

It's been said, but I'll say it again, don't even think of voicing anything that could come across anywhere near negative in the super secret forum.

Anyone who allows them selves to be silenced in a forum online about the truth for fear of rejection from other forumites needs mental help lol I guess they need to feel accepted.
Perhaps spark will sticky either his thread on Mr.burger or sticky this thread . I'll send spark an email.
