Super polished edges

Just did this on an edge pro clone with edge pro stones. No worries, just ordered a real edge pro, the clone's wiggle and cracking parts were pissing me off [emoji12]

You're gonna love it if you got that good results with the clone!

Chinese clever, acid etched and polished to 16k with Shapton Glass stones.

Looks great Jason!! Love the contrast too!

Thank you gentleman,

I'm a big fan of etching carbon steel and with this blade it brought out a really cool pattern. I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's very mesmerizing.

This may interest some ;) I was working on a straight razor tonight. had some pretty bad edge damage so I had to grind the edge flat before beginning.

This pic below is at the 3um level, which is what all my mirrored edges are taken to then stropped a little (as in 30-50 passes). This is a mirrored edge at optical power 230x on my usb microscope

Then I increased the angle by about 1 dps and micro-beveled at 1um. This is still prior to any stropping as the stropping really brought out the mirror so much it was extremely difficult to capture.

Just got in those choseras and the edge pro I ordered. Definitely sharper than what I was getting before!

Thank you and nice one DeadboxHero!

A bit of background: one day I was checking my blade and saw that, shocked (did I get cut that deep without feeling it?) and then realized it's the reflection:o

Cut right off the tree. Hard use in So. Cal...

(worked on a freehand edge here, very sharp but visually just ok IMHO)

Just completely re-did this 808 after the orange slicing - fresh off the Lansky, took it down to 17º w/20º hairline micro - crazy sharp & even.
Now I'm happy with it.

Might be because I'm on tapatalk, but those pictures don't work for me. EDIT: Nevermind, they work now.

I'd like to thin this out even more, but since INFI isn't the most wear resistant steel I decided to give it a very slight convex instead.

Nice job!! What angle is that? You like infi with a high polish, does it perform well?

Wow! Talk about a perfectly even bevel width from heel to tip...you even nailed that area at the very very back with no problem! That's where I mess up sometimes..i think it's the 'plunge grind?'

very nice work

Yeah zt' s pretty much always plunge issues, it is how they grind in the primary bevel. When I regrind one I have to fix it. But the key on this one is to not take the edge back too far where it starts thickening up.

Josh, Your consistency is amazing. I still have a hard time with tips. Wondering if it's the somewhat narrow width of Lansky stones?

How wide are they? The wicked edge stones are about 3/4" wide. The key I've found is to keep more pressure on the side of the paddles opposite the tip 😊

Beautiful, amazing edges, by the both of you!:thumbup:

I've been following this thread for awhile; getting inspiration, to finally get my Edge Pro Apex 4 set up, & hopefully start using it.
