Recently upgraded from Lansky to Edge Pro Apex. 15º secondary. So insanely sharp (as is) I passed on adding a micro. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.:D

Not positive you're referring to my knife, but just in case...I wanted to thank you for the kind words. :)
Lol... yes I was...
Phone troiblrs... tapatalk is too complicated for me to reply properly... Haha

Kizer Kyre: I experimented on this one. It's not the prettiest result I've gotten...but...I always wanted to try for a very acute angle/broad bevel...on one of my knives, mainly because I think it looks great on certain knives. The insane slicing ability achieved is a huge bonus, of course. The Kyre has a very thin, (very nice slicer) VG10, high flat ground blade, so I decided I'd shoot for a 13º secondary. I could never get that low an angle with my Lansky so this was an opportunity to try it on my new Edge Pro. This may be the sharpest I've been able to achieve yet, so I again decided not to mess with this edge by putting a micro on it. Really liking the Edge Pro...and I'm just beginning to get cosmetically acceptable results while still getting an insanely sharp apex. Definitely a learning curve with this system. Still got a long way to go. Maybe more stropping required.

That looks great Scrim! This pm2 is a gift for a friend... edge is set to 12 dps w/ a 15 dps microbevel (invisible to the eye).

Thanks, Josh...and.......Wow...more perfection on display in your work. And you do such a great job on the tips. I'm still having a little trouble with not rounding them, just the slightest bit...more like a slight distal taper at the last 1/8th to 1/16th inch of the tip. You seem to nail them perfectly every time. Even when I'm extremely careful at the tip, using some back pressure on the stone's opposing edge, there's still something I'm not getting right 100% of the time. It's these tiny details that highlight your talent & consistency. Damn nice job, again.

PS. Can I ask, what grit stone (or stones) do you usually use for your micros?

Went for it on this one too, 13º, no micro, sharpest one yet. 4.25 inch cutting edge, yikes! Silent thru phonebook paper from any angle, S curves, push cutting, the whole thing. But still experimenting with really low angles, just because I finally can...

Thanks Scrim, Nice job yourself man!!

All depends on what I'm going for :) in this case it was with the same grit I finished the main bevel on 😊

Gorgeous edge on that bud, imagine that's one insane slicing pm2... what was your progression after the 1k diamonds?

Just curious as I've been eyeballing the choseras and Shapton stones. But damn they're an investment.

Haven't been by this thread in a while. Beautiful work by all of you!

Josh,

I'm super curious about that 12dps edge bevel on that PM2. I recently got one of the BHQ CPM-M4 dealer exclusives and measured my freehand reprofiling of the edge bevels at ~8-9 degrees per side, but my edge bevels appear to be a similar width to your 12dps PM2. I wonder if they ended up running the CPM-M4 blades thinner behind the edge?

My edge bevels measure ~0.070" wide and the edge bevel is ~0.020" at the shoulder, so math says ~8 dps:

Not much of a mirror polish, but I don't really bother anymore since I got into coarse particulate abrasive stropping. I'm posting this purely to compare the edge bevel width to that 12 dps s30v PM2.
