When the supply is zero then for sure. That’s assuming that everyone that is a customer of SK! Is aware of this, let alone aware of Bladeforums, and this thread. You’d be surprised how many knife enthusiasts I’ve met in my day that have never even heard of Bladeforums. SK! Could do just fine ignoring this completely and pressing forward. Their demand always exceeds their supply.
I don’t have a clear answer here, but taking new orders and getting further behind certainly isn’t the answer. Worry about rebuilding your reputation after you’ve settled and cleared up the issue (a mountain of knives from years ago that people are waiting on)
That's not the positive talking point that you believe it to be. Their years-long delay in supplying product while continuing to take orders and money from new customers is hardly something to be proud of.So what? Why bother if most of the same people are still gonna hate you and have it out for you? Again, their demand always exceeds their supply… honor isn’t gonna make them any extra money.
They have no good reason to waste the effort if it isn’t hurting current demand which exceeds supply.
I don't think you'll ever make everyone happy. People are still mad at Ruger for the things that Bill Sr. said and he died two decades ago. The Ruger of today isn't the Ruger of old. So a lot of customers have forgiven them. What I'm asking is what would it take? Where all was forgiven and everyone was happy and SK! is in everyone's good graces again.
I think the short answer is that there isn't anything they could do. There would always be a 4, 5, 6, 8 year thread going by most of the same people that just wanna be pissed and rant about something on the internet. As I said... recreational outrage.
So just take the money and run, eh? Guy, is that you? They have no good reason to waste the effort if it isn’t hurting current demand which exceeds supply.

It’s ok if they’re running a scam, as long as they’re making money?? WTF kinda drugs are you doing, pal?Right. Once they fill whatever orders they do… they have zero knives left and still people standing in line for more. Assuming your margins are good and you’re meeting or exceeding all your functional expenses… that’s a good position to be in. I mean if it’s a scam as many here claim they gotta be making money right? It’s a bad scam otherwise.
So you’re advocating for them to continue creating larger gaps in their backlogs? This is exacerbating the situation and making it more likely for people to complain and be upset with the company.

Because I’m not getting into motivism. You’re just angling for an SK! shill label. I’m not playing your game.
Here's a reason: Fraud. That's illegal, but you seem to be able to gloss right over that little detail.I’m not advocating for anything. I’m just stating they have no good reason to try and make good with people that already hate them and won’t forgive them anyway if they did.

No game here. You clearly don't like the existence of this thread even though it serves a good purpose to consumers and I was just curious why.
I don't conflate "haters" with past customers who have been robbed of the product they payed for. They are distinct groups in my eyes and it's clear in my post who I was referring to.So what? Why bother if most of the same people are still gonna hate you and have it out for you? Again, their demand always exceeds their supply… honor isn’t gonna make them any extra money.
I’ve never said “I don’t like the existence of this thread”. I said I think it’s funny. You’re trying assign a motive. And I’m not playing your game.
Shouldn't they be making good to all the people still in the years long queue? That should be their top priority, not taking new pre-orders. That’s how they dig out of the hole and continue on in their knife making business without screwing new people over.
It’s only a bad fraud if they’re not making money. Did I get that right? Here's a reason: Fraud. That's illegal, but you seem to be able to gloss right over that little detail.
