Nice to be back Boru, thanks for the warm welcome. Just to be safe are you sure I'm good to answer? I got a warning and points deducted for making a comment offering to buy a certain brand of knives if anyone is looking to get rid of them. I'm sure you can understand I don't want to run afoul of any rules posting company names etc... in the knife exchance.

I did some quick researching and I haven't found anything to indicate there is some new or improved process for making Kydex.

Someone should reach out to their supplier and ask, then post the answers.

Maybe. Probably to be honest. Why not call the supplier and confirm they're lying and post about it here. And YouTube. No one would trust me here to do it, one of you should. Why bother? Adds to the ambiance of the thread and will reinforce to new buyers that they're still up to their antics.

Right? Other businesses don't do it because they would never get away with it. Part of the reason survive's grifter con-artists scam works is because it is so small scale and because the victims are such disorganized man-children, buying tough guy luxury products on the internet. Survive as found the perfect niche population to grift off of. I doubt they are getting rich but no doubt they have found something they could "survive!" on nearly forever without much risk or doing nearly any real work. Grifters paradise!

Thanks. I'm glad I asked, I would have put links.

-Northwest Knives had a bunch of 5.1s and 4.5s in stock, believe the July and August time frame but they're gone now. All listed on their website as out of stock.
-Edgeworks had a bunch of the same in stock in the same timeframe as well. They had a couple left at the beginning of this month, the rest were out of stock.
-BSS had their specific GSO5s in stock for a while.
-There were one, maybe two other smaller companies that carried some but I can't remember them and I was banned on the facebook group I was on that had the links (ironically for recommending people cancel their orders or take the legal route).


If people are still waiting on pre-orders for 5.1s (and 4.5s) it begs the question why did these companies (minus BSS) get them in stock in large quantities? Did the companies order them years ago or recently?


This is interesting. Northwest knives appears to be a new company, formed in 2022 (I didn't look longer than 15 seconds). They're also located in Meridian Idaho, 2.3 miles from Survive!'s shop. (Also recall Survive! said they're working on other machine projects and orders between their own orders).

Edgeworks also looks new (at least an updated webpage from 2022) however they're a good 2300 miles from Survive!.

You're the believer - Why don't you reach out, to their sub contractor (Armory Plastics) to get the name of their kydex source?

Probably has it confused with Boltaron, except it's a thermoplastic same as kydex, and molds the same...I guess Guybag did not know that there wasn't a difference in forming the material into a sheath...

Next, it will be the grommets - "too much metal in the grommets made them hard to install," said Guy, "so we had to delay all shipments while we reworked the grommets to our exacting standards."

But BSSbag from youboob got all our last good grommets so those orders went out....

the only thing they're trying to do is convince people to close out their outstanding orders without having to make a knife.
