Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

"Legendary"* backlog .... mmmm, interesting word choice....it reminds me of a tale I once heard......... < cue the wavy flashback scene transition screen >

*Have you heard of the 13th "Lost" Labor of Hercules he was tasked with by King Eurystheus?

I'll bet you haven't. So settle in and get comfy, here's the Cliff Notes version:

The 13th labor for Hercules was the most daunting labor of all...it made capturing Cerberus look like a beer run...

Hercules' 13th labor was to clear Survive!'s backlog.

At first, it wasn't looking too good for ol' Herc as the untreated and "allegedly" poorly HT'd blanks started to pile up so high it challenged the cloudy peak of Mt. Olympus in dizzying height.

But, our hero, was owed a favor by the one and only, Vulcan, god of the fire and forge. It seems Herc had scored some Lotus for Vulcan for a frat party when back in their university days.

So anyways when Vulcan arrived in Meridian, Hercules switched over to manning the bellows and he handed over the hammer and tongs to Vulcan.

An eon later, Herc and Vulcan had filled all the backorders for the GS010's.

At that point, Hera looked down from Mt. Olympus and said, "F*%k it, that's good enough, I'm getting bored watching you guys! Zeus himself couldn't clear that clusterf*%k of a backlog-- your trials are finished."

True Legendary story. ;)

Open orders from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. What the literal fuck? I own two of Guy's knives and I've spoken to him personally. I just don't get it.

The following link has, I think, the most up to date schedule.

Their own site states that 5.1's are one of the models that are the oldest outstanding orders.

This person ordered it 3 years ago and just got it.

This person ordered an IN STOCK 5.1 and received it in about 2 weeks. (Summer 2022)

The company states that they considered refunds as completed orders.

I don't think they have any intention of getting knives in the hands of people that ordered in the 2010s and are simply giving refunds as they come and until the backlog is "complete".

It's honestly sort of impressive that no matter how low the bar gets Survive always finds a way to shimmy under it.

How does one go about getting a refund from Survive when I can’t seem to get ahold of them? Wish I saw this post 7+ months ago when I ordered something that was “90 days out,” that keeps getting delay after delay. I’m sure it’s been answered how to do the refund but I don’t have the time to read through this many pages at the moment. I’ve been calling and texting every couple days for the past few weeks to inquire on the order and now I see they’ve dropped their latest video explaining this additional delay, and it seems like I won’t be seeing this knife anytime soon.
File a complaint with the BBB and call the AG in ID.

A well established name in the knife community. Before that, Kydex. These guys are sluggin’ away at very reputable companies. Survive knives continues to be the butt end of their own joke.
I told them when they blamed the Kydex to send me the knife and I would get my own Kydex. They went quiet for 3 months then started expected by the Christmas then to 1 quarter and now 5 years later they still haven't finished them.

Almost forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder
They are good at making up new stories and that is what they are Stories. I would file their videos and updates in the Fiction section. It is easy to laugh but then we have people for some reason that keeps this scam going. I wonder what happened to Shane that helped him get the GSO 6 & 3.5 out. I cancelled my order in 2018 and they are still not completed with the knives from May 2016 that I was a part of. Anyone that comes here and say I enjoy waiting 7 years is just full of it. They stop posting updates and emails because people was using their words against them and could prove their lies.

Everybody has an opinion on Survive! Knives. In my experience, I have gone through the 3-year wait for a GSO 5.1. When I received it, the quality was outstanding. I knew that the wait would be long when I ordered. More recently I acquired a GSO 3.5 and a GSO 4.5 Bushcraft from the factory and a NIB GSO 8 from another member here. In all cases, the level of quality exceeded the price I paid. I have two more knives on order from them. Waiting times are nothing unique to Survive!. I have a Vehement Corsair on order which should be delivered sometime this year. I ordered it over a year ago. That's just the way these small shops run. For my part, I have not experienced any dishonesty, just ridiculous wait times.
Of Course you were lied to in the past 3 years.
1. We will be done by Christmas
2. We are our own manufacturing company and everything will be done in months not years.
3. We are not using the D3V steel anymore and going to normal 3V.
4. We only use the best companies to get our high quality knives out but then they blame all of them for their scams.
5. No small shops like them don't operate like this in 2015 right before they started the massive orders from people they would send you your knife in 8 months. This is how I got my GSO 5 & 3.5. So they have been stating all orders would be done in a few months not a few years. They keep posting this nonsense yet haven't done so, that too is a lie.
6. Peter's heat treat is just as good as the D3v but that is who has always done their heat treating even on normal 3V so why would they blame Peter's for their issue now and yet send the new knives to Peter's again for heat treatment if they are messing up. So the blaming of others for their issue is a lie to you. When they say if anything happens it is their fault since they do it all in house.

Praising them will not get your knife any sooner unless you were promised it by coming on here and spouting how we are all wrong and how happy you are with their service. Others have tried and after time they too began to despise Survive.

Sir, I am not "praising" Survive Knives, and I find your suggestion that they promised me anything in return for my comment to be in poor taste. I wouldn't go so far as to say "personally insulting" because I don't know you so what you say is of no real consequence to me. I was simply recounting my experience. BTW, I did not contact the manufacturer after I placed my order.

Every thief has their apologist.

It’s really quite something, the lengths some people go to to justify their defense of habitually dishonest people.

For those who still haven’t figured it out, Survive? Knives is nothing more than a long con being perpetuated by thieves and liars. Their supporters and sycophants are co-conspirators helping to further the thefts and the dishonesty.

3 years. Each of those days represented above had 24 hours in it. Holy shit, those GSO 5.1's must be some complicated items to produce. And the blades going back 8 years to 2015. Clearly made of pure Unobtanium.

Open orders from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. What the literal fuck? I own two of Guy's knives and I've spoken to him personally. I just don't get it.

Who’s ready for some math? Looks like Survive! Knives doesn’t have the draw they once did!
T = R(1-Pt)/(1-Pi), where…
T is the fraction is product sold for a given year compared to all product sold between 2015 and 2021.
R is the fraction of total incomplete orders per year with respect to all incomplete orders from 2015 to 2021. (Value from the pie chart).
Pt is the fraction of completed orders from all years, status-ed at either June 2021 or Jan 2022.
Pi is the fraction of completed orders for any given year.

Keep in mind there’s some slop from the lack of significant figures; June adds up to 99.3% and January adds up to 102.5%. I’m taking the averages here. I figure this is good to about +/- 1.6%.

2015: 30.6%
2016: 25.6%
2017: 8.0%
2018: 5.4%
2019: 10.3%
2020: 10.9%
2021: 10.3%

No wonder why they don’t post their absolute numbers. They’re spending shit tons of cash and selling less than they used to. Every preorder is a loan for a company withering on the vine.

I have always appreciated all the post quoting S!K own incredibly damning numbers. However, I would not assume that their data is at all accurate. These dimwits cannot reliably fulfill orders or provide accurate lead times. I would not imagine that they have a good handle on their backlog.
