Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

I can't belive people buy into his bs scam after almost 10 years
*hangs head in shame* There are YouTube and other videos out there singing the praises of S!K. I didn't see the bad side before placing my pre-order. I haven't had a bad knife buying experience before this. I should have done more research, but sadly I didn't. caveat emptor

I hope you get your money back. At one point I had well over a thousand dollars in preorders with them. Luckily they were all fulfilled. Lesson learned. Stick with well established makers if I'm doing a preorder.

I wouldn't beat yourself up too bad. I briefly got into Survive when they still had a sub here and a pretty active fanbase. I never bought their knives direct so I might have been a bit slow seeing the writing on the wall, so to speak. It was there though and once I realized it, I moved the handful of knives I had right along.

I remember a time when BF was the place that would come up first when researching knives and various brands but these days, I think more folks rely on YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms to get their info. Unlike BF, content creators on those other platforms can be monetized and as such, can absolutely be influenced. We have our opinionated folks here on BF but there is enough balance to be assured you will get more facts than otherwise when it comes to information.

The reality is, this forum is a pretty small sampling of the total of all knife owners and collectors. Guy and Ellie can basically control the narrative most everywhere else, just not here. Everywhere else they appear to be on the up and up. When you don’t stumble upon this place first and all you see is the positive feedback, most people would tend to believe they don’t need to look any deeper. Not your fault, that’s how they’ve been able to keep the scam going this long. But …. Karma’s a bitch.

I actually got a reply from Tyler at Survive! from a message I sent last week in which I asked about when they would be fulfilling my order and pointing out that the PreOrder page says orders are on schedule to be delivered in a few months, which I also pointed out is not true. Tyler said "We actually do ship out orders within the allotted timeline , it all depends on where we are in production." So even with people waiting 1, 2, even 4 years (from the comments here an elsewhere), they believe they are shipping in the allotted timeline. He also said they are prioritizing the GSO 5.1 orders now.
I hope Tyler's response didn't deter you approaching you credit card company. There is a post a few pages back where someone got a refund from their credit card company way after the time limit when they provided evidence on Survive's track record on delivery.
Sorry, I'd add it this post but that exceeds my old man smart phone capabilities!

Another YouTube video calling out Niagara, Crucible, Larrin, Peters.... is everyone else the problem or do all of these things have something in common? This is a terrible look for him. Maybe the end is near.

Tonight's revelation, a brand new grade of steel required development! I for one will not tolerate development and continuous improvement. Outrage!

My guess is that’s “Tyler” responding and his future with the company (think his perseverance) is time limited.

Guy's latest YouTube video is really pitiful. He talks about how his life is falling apart and that he and Ellie are getting a divorce.

S!K has been the cockroach that will die, but I sense that the end in getting near...
He says in the video that he’s not really into running the business anymore and that he’d gladly sell it. It seems like he may know deep down that he can’t do this but won’t accept failure. That’s the most charitable interpretation I can think of. Saying you’re not into it anymore isn’t a great way to sell a craft product. Maybe some self sabotage incoming.

So, nobody and no posse has confronted this criminal enterprise in person after all these years?

Also in that video, Guy talks about how he reads and approves every comment on YouTube (and maybe elsewhere), so that is why negative comments never show up. And if you look through the comments, he is replying to almost every post. How much time is going into reading, reviewing, and commenting on YouTube videos, much less the time to record, edit, and upload the videos just about every day? Hanging out in the comment section of any video you make is usually not good for your mental health. If I spent that kind of time on YouTube, I would be out of a job because my productivity would be zero.
He admitted it. He's not working. Good grief he's not even trying to hide it anymore.

My guess is that taking the loss is cheaper than legal bills for assault and battery but if any outfit deserves it it's this bunch.
Unfortunately the law takes a dim view of do it yourself justice.

A few comments from today's update 🤣
Oh man! I love the comment about the pristinely clean shop that is supposedly trying to crank out all these orders. So from what I can see, IMHO their time is spent this way:

50% Making videos and replying to comments
1% Replying to messages/emails
1% Ignoring order cancels/refund requests
35% Cleaning the shop
10% Taking breaks
3% Making knives... the factory seconds that are being sold, not the back orders.

🤣

Guy would make a great politician, it seems he has no morals. It's always someones else fault.

If any of you have worked with Niagara, you know they're experts in their field, huge supporters of the knife community, and some of the nicest people you'll work with. It is sad they've had to lawyer up because of Guy's constant barrage of negativity and defamation. Guy is still taking MagnaCut orders when he can't get the steel to make the knives... perhaps the PA Attorney General needs to hear about this.

Great point!

S!K is still taking orders for MagnaCut knives. I just put one in the cart on their site.
