Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

So, what's the deal with them having EDC 4 in stock? I've been adding them and removing them from cart for days now, without ever buying, just in case it bother's them to see them in carts without ever being purchased. It seems that they have more steel and scale options today than they did at the end of last week or beginning of this week.

I don't believe they have anything in stock ready to ship.
….he is counting on people making those purchases under the false belief they are available for delivery. It’s the only way he can generate an income stream now.

Doesn't that count as wire-fraud which is a federal crime?

Doesn’t it take up to 30 days for them to ship in stock ready to ship items? Everyone would agree that means they’re not in stock nor ready to ship.

Given the demand for magnacut I could believe a bad batch got out. In one of the DBK videos they had a Barkriver magancut blade break. To me it almost looked like there was a void in the steel too. But to say it's all the CPM steels...I have to believe other people would be talking about it.
So if it's not the steel, what could they be doing wrong that would cause voids in the middle of the steel??? It all seems like pretty standard stuff, water jet, grinder, cnc machines, Peters heat treat.
Unlike most of the people on here I wanted to see them get it together, and everyone get the knives they had ordered. Everyday it looks worse and worse now.

without seeing Guy’s entire process which he won’t share we have no way of knowing what steps were taken or not taken prior to heat treat. We don’t know if those defects in the bevel which do look strange were visible on the surface before grinding. I’ve seen decarb go pretty deep on improperly heat treated steels. Bark river isn’t exactly a standard for quality control they’ve had plenty of issues in the past. That knife on DBK broke on the jimping which was most likely the cause.

Without more makers coming forward to say hey I’ve seen this issue too or a way to replicate what Guy is doing there’s no way to know or validate his statements.

One also need to be cautious about his statements that he does not see issues with others steels, to me that statement would only be valid if it were the same steel quality. Now he is comparing steels with different chemical compositions and mechanical properties. It is like saying "the welds look excellent when I weld this carbon steel but this nickel based super alloy turns out bad with the exact same settings..."

Gentlemen, Survive! may do what they wish on their social media accounts, but I think it is bad form to be copying and pasting what were intended to be private communications by other parties here without their permission.

We are not the chat room for Survive! and if you want to respond to Survive! and their antics, do so on their site or the media sites they use.

In any case, have some respect for the privacy of others, whether Survive! does or not...as you would hope for if your own personal communications were being published online without your knowledge.

(Some material has been removed, and will be in the future as well if it crosses that line.)

It’s not private it’s posted on their public social media page anyone can go see it but some may choose not to which is why it’s here.

I think the problem is that Guy posted a private conversation to his public social media. That is bad form, and BF should not perpetuate that by reposting it. I think the public YouTube and other comments are ok, but correct me if I am wrong. I don't have IG, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so I like getting all the responses here so I can know all the things he is saying. I am trying to gather info for my CC dispute, so that helps.

This is sure one of the stranger things I've ever watched play out. I really wanted my knife 😞. I feel like it's been almost ready to ship for the last year and half.

Soooo...you're hoping the lyin' thievin' bastids succeed?

Ok then

His newest video is crazy. I don't use that term lightly. He is on an unhinged crusade against CPM and Niagara.

Remember, on one hand we have a company that has a steel that has been used by 100's of knife makers to make 100's of 1000's of knives. Other than Guy, you will be hard pressed to find any significant problems with their steel.

On the other hand we have Guy. S!K has outstanding orders from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and this year. They have had consistent issues since they started the business in 2013...

I have serious doubts on the validity of anything Guy claims.

I bought 4 knivers from them that were in stock, and got all of them within 15 days. I bought 2 preorders, never got them, got refund from paypal after few months of waiting.... I agree they are full of BS, but lets not make up stories.

There are A LOT of people that waited a lot longer than 30 days for "in stock" knives. I am glad that you got 4 knives in a timely manner, but your experience is not typical and S!K does not consistently fill orders in the promised timeline.

Does anyone here have testimony of placing a PreOrder and actually receiving it? What I see, is the only thing that gets shipped are the "in stock" items, and lately those are factory seconds. The GSO 5.1 seems to be the most preordered and never delivered, as far back as 2015. And recently Guy posted that the only thing stopping him shipping S90V orders from 2020 (that he claims the knives are totally finished) is the fact that he doesn't have money to get a sheath made. So how is he going to have money to pay shipping? Bizarro World.

I did pre-order a 7/7 and got my knife after 2 or 3 years and by that point I was done with Survive and sold it the day it arrived.

Sooo...you're proud to have knives by these scumbags?

Must be nice knives, huh?

To bad nobody that's not a scourge on the community makes a nice knife, eh?
